  1. Interesting, I didnt' know Howard was affected by Tourette's, I did notice he has a bit of a twitch, so that explains it. I can't see him going tho, even tho, it's prob an opportunity of a lifetime. Good on him at least for getting the invite.
  2. I think we have definetely made progress without a doubt, year on year. The season before last, even the beginning of this season, there were plenty of fixtures that you thought, ok, we need a bit of luck here or we need so-and-so to have a good game there, and I'd be be worried we wouldn't pick up points, (i'm talking about the likes of Newcastle, Spurs, Fulham, Wigan, Blackburn, City, Villa - all teams round and about us, not the top4). However, from the second half of this season, I've stopped looking at this games with an inch of fear, but with full on confidence that we can get maximum points out of these games. And, I'd even go as far as to say, that I'm sure we can give any of the top4 teams a run for their money. The only thing we are lacking is that extra bit of quality that you need to win those big games. But to get that you need $$, and the only thing we can do there, is hold on to our best players, and year on year continue to progress in the way we have done, bringing in quality young players (including the younguns like Rodwell). Even if we bought 1 top quality player each year, as long as its not "one-in, one-out" that's still progress. I think, not having the money that other teams have means we can't just buy in a bunch of players aiming for instant success, it's something that we've got to be a little patient with and aim for over the coming years. We have to remember, it's not just progress on the pitch that we have made, but also behind the scenes as well. A think we're building a house on the rocks, which has got to be a good thing, and I really do believe that we are only a season or two away from winning something.
  3. Sounds about right. He seems to be to be interested in what a club can do for him than what the can do for a club.
  4. nice vid, looks like the lad has got good feet, can take people on, score a goal, looks like he can play on the right and through the middle, maybe just what we're looking for. I doubt there's any truth in this rumour though..
  5. I think I'm pretty happy with that... Arsenal on the first day is obviously gonna be a tough one, but then we don't really meet any top quality opposition until mid-November / mid-December. Hopefully that'll help us also in the Europa league. I'd say Jan-Feb could be our toughest months - you've got the FA cup, Arsenal, Citey, and a good couple of our African players probably heading for the ACN. Quite happy with the run in and I agree with Taxi that, if we're up there in March, we'll be in a good position for finishing well. Fingers crossed for an injury free season.
  6. I second that. I really hope this is not true. If anyone should be going to Burnley, it's Hibbo. Please, please, I don't want Hibbert as our right back.
  7. His son will grow up in Spain - just not for another couple of years.
  8. And the main pic of him with his head in his hands - obviously just missing a gift of a goal - not the best advert. But I'm not sure if that brochure is the real one or just something mocked up by NOTW!!. :smile_anim:
  9. I do belive that he still is an evertonian... at the end of the day, i dont really blame him for trying to progress his career and become the best he could be (remember, we weren't in the position we are now, when we sold him). Whether he'll come back to us.... i don't know.... if he does,,, i just hope it isn't when he's 29-30 and living out his last days, (when he's that ages, he's gonna be fat and slow... sorry but biology, not grievance) but to get him before then, i dont think we'll be able to afford him.. especially as i think that next season we'll see rooney play a more prominent role in manure since ronnie has gone. nevertheless, of course, i'd take him back, a good player is a good player, and rooney is one of the best in the prem, no matter which way you look at it. however, it ain't gonna happen. sorry!
  10. this is an interesting point if you look at the figures for the top 4, all of them are well in debt.... ok that debt might be 'manageable' in the main... but still...... it goes to show unless you can spend a good couple of HUNDRED THOU you aint got a chance of getting in that 'league'. i dont think they spend 80 mil, not at all. i think they'll tie tevez down and we'll see a side built around rooney/ berb/tevez next year... what i found interesting today was someone saying on the radio that Ronnie, whenever he scored, always seemed to be celebrating for himself and not the team and in retrospect, that is actually a pretty good statement... it makes me feel so good that when i look at our team, the celebrations are always about the team...
  11. That just goes to show how disproportionate the whole thing is.
  12. Do you think it's too much? Are you gonna miss him? What are your thoughts guys. He is a bit of a kn*b but personally I think the Prem will miss him. I'm just thinking what we could do with 80 million quid. FFS....
  13. Well, I'm Welsh (and I'm sure that there are a few of us on here). I'd rather any team on the planet win the World Cup than England. If you're asking club v my country.... that'd be a hard one.... just getting to the finals would be an achievement in itself... to win it.... well that is the stuff of dreams.
  14. I feel Owen is a one trick pony and he lost the one when he lost his pace. Personally don't think he's worth the money.
  15. COYB.... getting a bit excited now... not sure if I can predict which way it's gonna go, but I'm hoping those lucky enough to have tickets are gonna do us proud again and bring the house down.
  16. I'm not too sure about him to be honest, but there's paper talk that he may go out on loan. If we were going to take him, I think that's how it would be.
  17. It's on the OS now that Jo and Jags are ready to sign new deals.
  18. I'd love both of them players here, but I think we'd need about 25-30million to get them both. Not sure we could afford it.
  19. As it has been said, options on the right wing and a little more creativity in midfield. I think with that, if Pienaar keeps playing like he does (esp. with Bainesy) and Arteta and the Jak get back into action, we'd have made good progress, and have a midfield that could feed goals to the likes of Jak and Saha, as well as grab a few for themselves. One thing I've been thinking about lately is the Joe Ledley rumours, a left footed winger, would it be worth bringing in a left footed winger and breaking up the working partnership of Peinaar and Baines? Would Peinaar be able to get a similar partnership working on the right with Jacobsen (who for sure we should sign up for another year at least)? Another thing which is a cause for concern, I heard mentioned somewhere that the winner of the Europa League would have to play an extra 17 games to get to the final. I don't think we have at the moment a squad big enough to go the distance, so we would really need to add some squad players too, perhaps bring some of the youngsters up as well. I wouldn't mind at all if we sold Anichebe, but to be honest I can't see it happening, at least not this summer. I think right back is covered, as long as we get Jacobsen on a longer deal, and as for strikers, it would be nice to see another one come in (not Owen or Crouch), but that's not our top, top priority. edit: slight digression..... Kenwright is in talks with three players over contract extensions (Link), Jags is one of them, anyone know the other two. My guess is Jacobsen and ..... dunno!! any ideas?
  20. ok, almost got it. shareholders young player - RODDERS, young player, FELLI goal of the seaon - GOOSE players of the year & players player - yes, we all knew - JAGS Fan of the year... yes still ME!!!!!
  21. ....and the young player of the year goes to..... Rodders.... who said that again..... oh yeah... me.
  22. Usual BS that I've come to expect for journo's these days. No matter how true it is, it's something that we're gonna have to put up with. Something to take heart from though; he did mention that he's a loyal person, and that he really wants (and hopes) to win something with Everton.
  23. What an ugly website..... doesn't say much about their design skills. mind you neither dot he pics at the top
