Not bad going forward, but at the back....in fact, wait!! do we have anyone in defence??
  2. Reporter on SSN, said that the 'informal transfer request' rumours have been denied from Finch Farm. Make of that what you will.
  3. Apparently, they've been in talks for a couple of weeks (SSN) but as yet the deal is not complete.
  4. If there is any truth in these transfer request rumours, I think Moyes, needs to give Sir Alex a ring on some tips on how to get his best players to stay and perform well. I'm reminded of the Ronaldo-Real Madrid saga that was played out over the last few years.
  5. The facts are we need cover for this position. I don't see why Senderos doesn't fit that bill, ok he may not be the best, but if the price that's been quoted is true, then that's not a bad deal. If he's coming in to replace Lescott that's another question into which I'm not prepared to go. But the fact is, if Lescott does end up leaving, then we'll need more than just Senderos; whether that be Senderos plus one, or any other two CB's. I'm hoping that this Lescott saga is just BS... and the fact that we've being doing the usual Everton dally-dance in the transfer market, I'd honestly take anyone at this moment in time.
  6. All this speculation is getting a bit out of hand. I'm frankly a bit tired of it now.
  7. Not sure about Defour coming to us, but looks like Alonso is going to Spain. According Sky Sports News they just need to agree the fee, which the Waiter is haggling over. Looks like it's going to go through though.

I have to say, that Hibbert has looked a lot better in these pre-season games. I know many people have slagged him off in the past, and I'd admit that I've been one of his sternest critics, but he's looking much better these days, seems to not get rattled as easily, and his final ball when he gets forward is much improved. The first half today in fact, we've looked a lot better going down the right, I'm just hoping that me saying this is not going to be the kiss of death.
  9. I may be wrong, but if I remember rightly there was talk about him taking an international post not to long ago, (he may have been mentioned for the England job for Capello got it). I think he said something about being too young and inexperienced at the present moment for that kind of job. However, think he would for sure love to get that job, but not for a fair few years yet.
  10. What an oxymoron... dream girls like that just don't exist. Mind you, I do know a few guys who could easy fit into that category

Tim Howard is the man!! man of the match by far.. (not just cos of the pens). Team played absolutely awful at times. exciting finish tho.

    Pre-season

well we started off well but we ended that half in diabolical shape. I'm sure Moyes is going ape in the dressing room right now. I think Rodwell's been a bit exposed in the middle of the park there against Ljungberg. Hopefully, we'll see some changes in the second half, not least Freddie coming off (fingers crossed, but I doubt it).
  13. To be fair, is he goes, we're gonna be f*cked. We'll only have 1 fit CB in Yobo, plus we're gonna have to use that money to get in not just a replacement but also the cover we need at the moment. If he does go, then I can see us having a shocking start to the season again. For sure Moyes doesn't want him to go, and unless it's a ridiculous amount and J-lo himself says he wants the move, then it won't happen. However, saying that, I've got a sneaky suspicion that it just might. Anyway, until we get more definite news about this and not just paper talk, then as far as I'm concerned that's just what it is. (On another note: Maybe we can do a deal where we sell him to city for about 20mil then immediately get him back on loan for the season;)
  14. Well he's finally come out now and said he's staying. Would be nice for a similar statement from Joleon.
  15. I think what has added to the frustration that many fans have been feeling, is not only the rumours (true or untrue) that are being published left, right and centre, but the fact that even though Moyes said he wants to get transfers in early this season and not wait until the final days like last year, it looks like it could be heading that way. Personally, I would have liked to have seen players in and ready for the start of pre-season, so that they have the maximum possible time to gel and learn the Everton way. Who's fault that is, I don't know, maybe Florentino Perez or Mark Hughes&Co, but I'm sure it's not Moyes', and I'm pretty confident, that BK & Elstone, are doing their best as well. Why do I say that, I say it because I do believe that as Moyes expects 110% from the players, I'm sure if BK & Elstone were slacking, he'd be letting them know in no uncertain terms. I must say, I am as frustrated as the most on here, and am getting worried about next season. I really don't think that we will be able to match last year's 'success' without adding more players to the squad, in fact at this moment in time, I think a top 8 finish would be more realistic. Who knows who will be coming in and when, but I'm hoping that there will be some candle of hope shone before us before too long, because I'm getting tired of reading about all these players we're getting linked with and nothing coming from it. Saying that I don't think anything like that is likely until Moyes and the Boys get back to the UK, and then we still may have to wait a bit longer...
  16. You know I keep checking the threads for updates on news, for this and other transfers, but in the back of my mind, I'm just waiting for the 'hijacked' link/story. God Damn stupid transfer window!!
  17. To be honest, I'd be really pleased if we pulled this one off, but going from previous experience, I'm not getting my hopes up until he's holding up the famous Royal-Blue shirt on the OS. However, I don agree with some of the other posts that the centre of the park is not where we really need to strengthen. Watched a bit of the game yesterday and we still need attacking options on the right - unless Pienaar goes over but then we need someone on the left. I'm just gonna wait and see what happens and keep me fingers crossed that we are avble to bring in a few quality players, hopefully, this week, but if not at least before the start of the season.
  18. A bit like phil neville last season (I'm sure we all remember!) I'd take some more of that.

    Pre-season

Hey, does anyone know of a link/stream for Friday's game against Bury.
  20. True, true, but it's not everyday the globetrotters come knocking on your door. (it's just something to tell the grandkids init!!)
  21. I think you seem to forget that a few seasons ago we got 5/6 even 4th spot - a lot to do with luck as much as anything else, the season we finished 4th, we had pretty much no injuries for the whole season, now imagine of that had been the case this season. We are in a position now where, 5 or 6 is seen as normal and not just as a 'good result', we shouldn't forget that. We have consistently (over the past couple of seasons at least) proved ourselves as "best of the rest" outside the top four, and anyone who thinks we can just walk into that elite group is dreaming. Everyone knows, that that elite is miles ahead of the rest of the league, and realistically, we shouldn't even be touching them, but the fact is we are!!, and we're doing it better than anyone else in the league. That is something to be proud of and no matter what all the deriders say, we have consistently made progress. We're not gonna be Prem or CL winners for a while yet, but we are, undoubtedly, heading in the right direction. Moyes has been the key to that, and certainly will continue to be, as long as he is here. OK, he's not brought any silverware home yet, but I believe, in fact know, that it won't be long before he does. And the progress we've made is that we are able to say those words with confidence and honest belief - and that's a long, long way from where we were even one season ago.
