  1. I really don't understand this at all.... why have they gone and had a work permit for this guys approved, when it looks like they haven't even come to an agreement with Valencia or Banega about him coming here. Something's not right here.
  2. I think we'll go with a similar team to what we had at the weekend, except maybe Jo starting instead of Saha as American Evertonian said above. I think our main goal should be to just come away from there with a clean sheet, if we get a goal or two so much the better. Our defensive performances have been poor recently, and I just hope we can start showing a higher level in this area. I reckon we'll win though, and I'm gonna go for 2-0.
  3. Come on Yak!! Great news, I reckon we might see him back in the first team for the game on the 13th Sept.
  4. At the end of last season, most of us were saying we need left-back cover and a winger, as priority. Agreed, now we have the winger, and we may also get Banega too, our attention should be focused on getting in defensive cover, especially now Joleen has gone. Not sure who we'll get, but I think we'll definitely get someone(or two) in, even if that might be a year long loan, or an ageing/experienced defender just to cover until Jan/next summer. But to be honest, I'm just glad we've got more attacking options, as that is what we've seriously lacked in recent seasons.
  5. From what I've read this guy is left footed, tall (6'1"), and pacy, and can score goals... isn't that just what we've been looking for? Hope this guy works out for us.
  6. If Arsenal wanted 6mil before, I think they'll want 8 or 9 now.
  7. Another disappointing display... I don't agree with the doom sayers though, I just think we lack the real confidence to have gone on and won that game. That period up until the penalty was where I thought we should have scored. If we'd have scored in that period, then I think our confidence would have gone up and we may well have gone on to get a second. However, I believe that this week will bring in some new faces and a new more confident Everton, especially when we get through to the next round in the EL (touch-wood!). In fact I think there has to be some new faces this week, simply for the fact that they can't leave it until Monday next, can they!!??
  8. Here's the link to the story.. telegraph link quote is from a few days ago though...
  9. Just heard that on the BBC as well - him saying that the clubs are talking.
  10. I hope we have a bit of luck at the hearding today, I haven't seen this guy play, but I'd be happy for anyone to sign at the moment.
  11. Really enjoyed that match, we were looking great, especially towards the end, I think we may have our confidence back. The first 20 minutes or so were a bit jittery, I think we were a little nervous to start. (could have been a different story if they'd have scored first!). We were lucky with the penalty claims, but all in all I'm feeling a bit more optimistic now (yet I'm still freaking out every time one of our players go down).
  12. This latest saga, has made me laugh... It sound's as if Lescott has had a big tantrum, and Moyes has told the little boy to go to his room to think about his actions, and to not come out again until he's sorry.. ha ha!!
  13. On SSN now that he's not in the squad for tomorrow's game against Sigma!
  14. A bit of essential pessimism here.... if he needs a work permit, and looks as if he doesn't 'fit the criteria' then that means we have no chance of bringing him to Everton. If it was one of the 'top four', well.... Silly, I know, but I'm not optimistic.
  15. I'm finally trying to string a proper sentence together after that absolutely awful day. Whether Mark Hughes has succeeded in getting his man or not, I bet he's still laughing his little boots off after seeing the disruptive effect this has all had on the club. But that can't be an excuse for us, we simply were not good enough, not professional enough. However, I don't think it's cause for concern, even though the scoreline would suggest otherwise, because I know we can play better than that. Whether Moyes will finally let J-lo go, after seeing the effect this saga has had, I don't know but I think what we all need is a bit of a morale bust - that means signings Moyesy, if you're reading!! After all, it's only the first day of the season, and there's still a long way to go. I'm not as gutted as I will be if we go out of Europe at the first hurdle - but I'm sure we'll be a different team by then and some way back to our old selves.
  16. Got a feeling this one is dead in the water.
  17. I'd like to see if City put in another official bid. If they do, I still think it'll be more than their last two bids. (Reasoning: even though Lescott's handed in a request, it's been rejected). Still unless it's closer to the £30mill mark(ie, ridiculous money), I think it'll still be rejected.
  18. It's crazy that he's left this so late, and I agree with those on here who claim that is is cowardice that he hands in a formal request, one - at this late stage, and two - while he's away on international duty. Whether he'll be here come September, I wouldn't like to hazard a guess, but I tend to think that Moyes is likely to stand his ground on this one. We all know though, that we could really use the money that city are offering, and if we could "exchange" Lescott for any of these (Moutinho, Sessegnon, Defour), I think that would be good business, however, the problem is that we'd have no-one to play at CB, and we already need to get defensive cover in at the moment, so an 'exchange' like that would never materialise. Good on Moyes, for standing his ground on this one though, it's gonna be interesting what kind of reception J-lo receives on Saturday - can't wait for that one.

    Malaga

I was thinking about this... but I presume it's because we've got Jo-Yobo, and Jo-Lescott. As for the game, we're much improved on recent performances. Good to see us playing nice football again. Just goes to show how we miss our players when they're out. Thought Pienaar, Felli and Saha were all excellent, as was Ossie, Baines too - got forward well. Rodwell looks a different player when he plays in midfield.
  20. that photoshop is hysterical, looks like Rodwell on a midget's body.. ha ha ha...
  21. I'm a bit worried about this one. if they managed to knock in 8 goals, they must be pretty decent in attack... and the way our defence has been playin lately.....!?
  22. I don't agree with some people on here who say that they want us to go out early, I really missed the extra European games last year. Also, we need to be getting good runs in Europe if we have any chance of attracting 'name' players. What's the point of struggling to qualify and then going out at the first opportunity? No thanks, I don't subscribe to that. I know we don't have a big squad, but still. I'd think I'd like to say Hearts, simply because they'd be less of an unknown quantity. I'm sure we know more about Hearts, what they do, and who their key players are than any of the 'foreign' teams. However, as long as we go through then I'll be happy.
  23. :blush02: I'm embarrassed, my spelling's usually quite good. I have to admit that it was a case of laziness on my part there. Thanks for the heads up though.
  24. Check out the OS for a short vid of some Maori dancers doing "If You Know Your History". Quite entertaining, we should see if we can hire them to perform before every home match
