  1. I'll be here, as always, hoping a good stream is available
  2. Reading the posts above, I was reminded of something. I think it was FairWooney who mentioned about Billy's lack of natural ability to take people on, and I do agree with this. He sometimes seems to just run towards people, I mean straight towards and into them, rather than doing a bit of trickery to get round. (I seem to remember Jo had a similar problem, don't know whether that's something to do with the Russian League). This is definitely a part of his game that he needs to work on, particularly if he's going to be playing as a winger. If can learn to get passed defenders a bit more, his delivery is not that bad, so he should be getting himself a good few assists, or at least putting opposition defences and goalkeepers under pressure.
  3. I was thinking the same thing. Can't see this Huntelaar signing being pulled off. Seems to have gone quiet on this topic, and I think he's just a little too far out of reach for us. Unfortunately. (Just as I was writing this on SkySports News, his agent has apparently said AC Milan are only willing to let him out on loan till the end of the season, so he can get games before the WC. Dont' know what to make of that, but still, don't think he'll be coming here)
  4. A lot of people on here seem to think this lad is kak. I truely believe that he's going to be a very good player for us. From what I've seen, he's not a bad player, he's shown some nice flashes of skill. However, before the haters start hammering, that is still only flashes. In his defence, he's come from the Russian league, a bridge too far for many people (we had a striker not so long ago who proved this pointed, erm, what was his name?? ), additionally, he's had no real pre-season with us (including the break that comes before it), I think now, he's really starting to look tired and finding it difficult to keep up with the higher pace of the game on top of that. People also seem to forget he's joint 3rd top-scorer this season. I think he just needs a bit of time, I'm going to wait until next season to make my final judgement. Look at Felliani, many people were slagging him off, now everyone wants to lick boots. As for where he should play, he's left footed, so logic seems to suggest he should play on the left wing. However, we know Pienaar can do a job there. Personally, I'd like to see us playing some Total Football, with players who can play all over the park. Even with a midfield with that ability we'd be awesome.
  5. :laughingsmiley: laughed my arse of when I read that
  6. I hope, if this is true, that the "JM" (you know who I'm talking about) thread, doesn't reappear with thoughts that Manny will be his replacement, so he can leave. God, please, please don't drag that thread up again!
  7. I was thinking maybe the money they get from selling Gerrard when Rafa takes him to Juventus.
  8. I suppose it's not too early to start giving line-ups. Let's see.. Howard Neville-Heitinga-Senderos-Baines Dovonan-Ossie-Fellaini-Pienaar Cahill Vaughan Subs: Coleman, Distin, Arteta, Billy, Saha. I'd give Vaughan a start, get it into Saha's head that there is some competition about. Start Ossie ahead of Billy, and put Pienaar out on the left, hopefully get some of that Baines-Pienaar stuff that we enjoyed last year going on. I've thrown Senderos straight in at the deep end, simply because Distin has looked poor in the last few games, though I'm sure Moyes will disagree with me (on this and the Saha point, I'm sure). I'd like to see Arteta get a few more minutes towards the end to ease him back in, and I'd love to see Coleman get a decent run out in the second half aswell (maybe on for Donners and push Neville into midfield with Ossie on the right). I just hope we don't concede early on, and more to the point get at them from the start. COYB, BlackCats? More like dirty off-white kittens.
  9. Slightly off topic but just seen a picture of the Shite's new stadium......... groundshare anyone??
  10. I wouldn't be surprised if we did see him on Merseyside in the not too distant future. Unfortunately, not on the better half of it.
  11. I think this one seems to be fading into nothing. DailyMail now reporting that Arsenal are looking to swoop for him. I know I read somewhere that Wenger had already denied any interest in him earlier this month. But still, for me, I don't think this one has any legs for us, or at least, any legs it does have are getting shorter and shorter. Link btw.. it states in the article that his wages are 65 Grand/week - well over our budget.
  12. That's from the OS "What The Papers Say" section. Apparently printed in the Daily Mail.
  13. Please don't say things like this.. you might get people excited!!
  14. Depends which team will play. If it's the team, that closes down early, has nice neat passing, and is up for it from the start. I agree 3-0. If it's the team that started against Birmingham, we'll be in trouble, and concede at least two goals, and score one less than them.
  15. I think we've seen enough in the last few weeks to warrant thinking that we are a much better side than a lot of the teams that are currently above is in the league. At times we've been playing some really nice football, and except for, what I call, the "mental absenteeism" that was evident in the first half against Brum and earlier this season, we have reason to be confident that all is not lost. Ok, we're out of both domestic cups, and we were all looking forward to a decent run in the FA Cup again, but we've still got at least two more games in Europe to look forward to, and if we can stop this 'mental absenteeism', then I think we should have enough to at least give Sporting Lisbon a game. I'm sorry to say it but I can't see us winning the it (the whole shebang, that is) but to go through to the last 16 or even quarter finals, would be a good achievement I think, as their are some really good teams still left in it. As for the season, I think this next month (till the end of Feb) will be a difficult month, and we'll need to be putting in good performances to get results. Next month, we've got the Shite(away), then Manu and Chelsea at home, before a trip to Spurs at the end of the month, before January's out we've got Sunderland at home and Wigan away. I think we should be aiming to get at least 12 points out of those games. That's basically, wins against Spurs, Wigan & Sunderland (all with the exception of Spurs, games that you would think we should be winning), and then draws against the three 'top four' teams (ie. Liverpool, United & Chelsea). If we can get 12 points, with good displays, from those games. I think it'll stand us in good stead for the run in. Additionally, I think we should be trying to bring in some extra fire power, both Jak and Saha, have been hit and miss lately, for one reason or another. Also, if we can start having a bit more luck with injuries and get the likes of Arteta and Jags back to full fitness, with the run in we've got, with many of the 'better' teams in the league already played, I think we should be able to press on. 12 points before the end of Feb will give us 38 Points with 11 games remaining. If we can get an average of 2 points per game over those eleven that would mean we end the season with exactly 60 points, which going by previous seasons is enough for a top6/top7 finish. Personally, I think 7th is the highest we can aim for, and my estimations are probably a little bit optimistic. However, the nature of the beast dictates that the situation doesn't always go as expected. Unless of course, you are expecting the unexpected.
  16. Pienaar I suppose, ran about a lot and probably did better than anyone else.
  17. Gutted! A return to our sloppy ways in the first half and we've paid the price. At least there's one thing to smile about - Mikey's back!
  18. come one boys, we can claw this back.
  19. Mikey's on, OMG, if he scores I'll cream
  20. vaughan should have left that for donovan
  21. lovely goal, baines just made up for all his first half mistakes
  22. I was wondering whether you'd be saying this at half time that was shocking, it looks like we were well anxious about something, if I didn't know better I'd say we were playing away. I wasn't expecting it, but it may be likely that we see Arteta coming out for the second half.
