  1. a win and we're through to the next round. If I was Moyesy I'd do a Wenger and play all our young players in the next game against BATE - blood them out, and reduce the risk that any more of our key players will be injured. I'm glad we got a result though, I hope that will help the confidence and after playing well in the last two games, I'm a bit more confident with our December fixture list.
  2. Was thinking of giving it to Billy at half time, but he went a bit quiet in the second half. Baines played well, as did Heitinga and Felliani. Overall though, a great performance from the lads; just disappointed with the result as we were easily the better team today.
  3. FFS, that's pissed me right off!
  4. We look a much much better side today with two naturally footed wingers on each side, and everyone looking once more like they actually want to be there. To be fair we've been the much better side in the first half, unlucky that we've had two goals ruled out for offside - though the second one was a quality header from Jo, he put backspin on it with his head On the other side of the coin I'd say Liverpool do look dangerous, so we need to maintain concentration at the back, and squeeze down those long range shots in midfield, but I'm quietly confident that if we come out and play like that in the second half, maybe get Saha on for the last 20, we can get something out of this game. (well, here's hoping!)
  5. i've got a feeling 1-1 or 2-1 to the shite.
  6. I read an article not so long ago (I can't remember where exactly, if it was here or on some other site/forum), that set out how wee would go about rebuilding Goodison Park, stand-by-stand over about two years. The plan actually looked quite feasible and 'attractive', lets say. However, I was thinking about the Anfield options recently, and I'm sure that would be a much better solution. We wouldn't lose as much money in terms of gate receipts, and I presume the stadium could be rebuilt all in one go within a season (inc. two summers' off seasons). However, the powers that be at Everton have been hinting that it's all going to be about affordability. What worries me is, if we can hardly get the money together each year to but one decent player, how are we going to afford the (eg.) £400 million it's gonna take to build a new stadium. To be honest, it's all well and good arguing about rebuilding on Goodison, a ground share with LFC, or some other location, but I think the more pressing fact is how are we going to raise the funds to actually do it. My fear is that we'll need to find partners (like Tesco in the DK case) that will end up dictating the terms of any move, to the detriment of the club, its traditions, its history, and it future.
  7. Zayette!! he saved us a real embarrassment. Seriously, I'm using my right to abstain, as no one deserves such recognition.
  8. Sickening display. Much better in the second half, but after the way we played in the first, I don't think we deserved anything.
  9. BBC Radio 5 Live. There's audio commentary on the beeb.
  10. Some comments from R5Live: Everton have been pretty, pretty awful. Everton players are completely unprofessional. I can't believe Everton are so bad. Everton are awful.
  11. Felli looks like he's crying in that first pic!
  12. Gave it to Distin for the simple reason that he blocked a fair few shots that would have surely found the back of the net, and made for a much more embarrassing result. Can't really say that anyone had a great game. All of our players were sloppy in their passing, thought the Yak did reasonably well once he came on, Saha was 'alright' but didn't have any kind of support (I suppose tactics could be blamed for that, in part). Thought Cahill showed a lot more of his 'captain's spirit' than in previous matches, Felli was decent, as said above, until carded. Overall though, bitterly disapppointed, we were outclassed and outplayed by a much better side.
  13. Can't see us getting anything out of this game the way it's going. Looks like we're playing 4 defenders and 6 midfielders, with Saha playing off the Invisible Man we've got up front. Admittedly, their goal was a cracking goal, I don't think we could have done much to stop it (the shot at least) but to be honest we had it coming. You only need to compare how United move the ball around in our half to see how far we are behind them. I'm hoping for a few more attacking options in the second half, and, as things stand, would be very happy if we take point out of this game.
  14. That speech has got to be one of the greatest ever written (and delivered).
  15. I really hope Nev's back for this one. I think whether we get he's playing or not will have a deciding influence on the end result. I'd be happy if we kept a clean sheet and snatched a goal somewhere. Though in all honesty I think a draw is a likely and acceptable result, with Neville, a loss (perhaps even a heavy one) without.
  16. I predict a draw. We'll concede late in the first half and then grab one back half way through the second. We'll be grateful for the draw, but be disappointed, not because we didn't go on to win but because we didn't play well enough to win, meaning we'll be cacking it come Thursday.
  17. I can see this weekend being the 'turnaround' match that's gonna kick-start our stuttering season, again! Unless Phil Neville comes on and does another crunch tackle that gets us going once more. Maybe if he's watching from the sidelines he could slide in on Martin O'Niel and that would work. FFS, its gotta be worth a try!
  18. I'm not going to vote for MOTM this time around. For one, the R5Live commentary sounding like there were only Spurs players on the pitch and secondly, well, I'm just disappointed in the team and don't think anyone should be given the accolade. After seeing the goals it looks as if we've really got problems at the moment.
  19. Btw...Just found this..highlights Check out Distin's "juggling act". Also, looking at the pen goal - ridiculous really.
  20. The thing that's annoying me is that, ok, we have players injured, but if you look at the team we've put out in the last two games, if you exclude Gosling and Rodwell, the rest of the team are experienced players who should for sure be vying for first team selection. But, they just don't seem to be showing up at the moment. It's not like the team that goes out is full of youngsters. Rodders is a quality player, well beyond his years, and has admittedly played well; Gosling, not that great, but still young, so could be forgiven, however, he does look as if he's been thrown in at the deep end without his armbands sometimes though. All the other players, Howard, Distin, Hibbert, Neill, Heitinga, Cahill, Fellaini, Jak, Saha, Jo, these are all seasoned first teamers (either with us, with other teams, or internationally). I feel that those players are good enough to put up a better display than conceding 10 and scoring 2 in the last three games, not to mention draws against Stoke and Wolves. The fact of the matter is that we are not showing the grit we displayed last year, we're not getting at teams like we did last season, we're giving the ball away far, far too easily in midfield, and we're making stupid, silly mistakes in defence. Maybe it's tiredness, maybe it's laziness because they know their place is all but guaranteed at the moment, maybe it's lack of confidence, maybe it's a million other things. The fact of the matter though is that we are playing absolutely awful at the moment, and something seriously needs to change. With Villa and Benfica coming up over the next week or so, I'm frankly not optimistic that that change is going to come about any time soon.
  21. I'm trying to I just can't remember where I left the pill bottle!!
