  1. Just read it and had the same thoughts about someone getting paid to write that!
  2. Off to La Liga to reunite with Moyes? This South African article refers to a Daily Express story that isn't available online yet, but suggests that he could be on his way to Spain: http://www.soccerladuma.co.za/news/articles/categories/players-abroad/steven-pienaar-rumored-to-be-a-target-of-david-moyes-at-real-sociedad/196439?
  3. I thought this name rang a bell. Looks like he's on his way to Southampton: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/548601/Southampton-Eljero-Elia-transfer-news
  4. Martinez said to the press this morning that Kone will start against Krasnodar next week.
  5. Was great to see him back on the pitch today. He slotted in nicely in the Pienaar role and what a story it would have been if De Gea hadn't brilliantly saved his long-range strike. With our injuries piling up I wish he wasn't jetting off on international duty after just one appearance back with us, but hopefully he'll come back unscathed.
  6. Thanks, I hadn't seen that news. We really miss him and other teams fear him.
  7. Any idea what's up with Coleman? I thought it was a bump on the head ten days ago?
  8. Level-headed interview with Mr Baines: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2771168/Leighton-Baines-When-I-retire-I-ll-walk-away-game-Everton-star-learning-play-guitar-England-plans-football.html
  9. ^^ It would be a loan until January if it's approved, so would get him some games and hopefully mean we can agree a suitable fee in the next window. I get the strong impression that Man Utd are still very pissed off with us over the Fellaini fee...
  10. Some reports floating about say that Cleverley to Villa on loan is still a possibility after Villa came back for him very late in the window, after we pulled out. Apparently he was at Carrington at 2am getting terms sorted and the loan depends on the paperwork being accepted by the PL/FA
  11. Martinez on Cleverley: “He can play in many different positions. We started him out wide and let him come inside. But his best position is central. “Sometimes you have to start in a false position in your career to get into the team and that was the case with him. He has got the ability to play out wide, he did that for the England Under-21s. But the more mature he gets, the central area is for him. “Tom Cleverley is Tom Cleverley. He is a unique type of player. He has an incredible knowledge of the game. Tactically he is well ahead of his years. He can fill roles that the team will need." It seems pretty obvious he sees him as a Pienaar-esque player who can play further forward and link with attacking players, but can also play deeper. I hope we get him. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-fc-boss-roberto-martinez-7020667 (this summer) http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-tom-cleverleys-rise-1322569 (2012)
  12. SSN just now reporting that Aston Villa have put in a bid for him.
  13. Leeds United are supposed to be interested in taking him on loan: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2739540/Matt-Pennington-set-loan-Leeds-Everton-defender-looks-game-time.html
  14. Says he's ready to take up a more senior and influential role this season: http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2014/08/29/mirallas-eyes-greater-role
  15. With £2,5m incoming from the Adam Forshaw sell-on and £1.5m just announced by Greg O'Keefe for Shane Duffy to Blackburn Rovers, Roberto is boosting his transfer funds for the final days of this window and I do think Cleverley is top of his shortlist.
  16. Should be a good move for him. Regular football is what he needs at this stage of his career. Looks like Roberto is thinning down the fringes of the squad a bit.
  17. That doesn't surprise me one bit. He's played his best football under Roberto and he's the manager who spoke up for him when he was getting stick last season.
  18. Good news - it shows the faith the staff have in him. Hopefully he can get a loan spell at a good level to help him develop this season.
  19. And fluent Spanish too after spending so many years there, so that'll help with Martinez and Oviedo. I reckon he'll already have a smattering of English anyway - he seemed to understand a few of the questions before the interpreter spoke.
  20. I remember Vincent Kompany speaking highly of him and saying we were getting a top player when it looked as though we were getting him. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on.
  21. I'd definitely like him on a loan to buy arrangement, and with a bit of faith from a manager who instills confidence in his players I think he'd flourish here.
