  1. ....probably because we couldn't pay for the blokes
  2. No, honestly, I get you. I get the point . And it's valid. BUT...its all hindsight. At the moment. In my opinion, Beto isn't as bad as some think. We, as Evertonians, tend to be very quick to write players off. Beto, like any player...and we've plenty of evidence of this...needs proper consistent game time. So, again, we could have not bothered buying any striker because our price range means whoever we get would be a gamble. That's the realistic market we're in. Which means, we still would rely on DCL either way. It's the sort of catch 22 we'll find ourselves in again and again. End note...I'm not sure Chamatti was a good idea. I wasn't sure about that one at the time. Didn't seem to make sense.
  3. Yeah. And then they want to do us for the exact same offence for the exact same reasons. Because they haven't thought it through. Mad ain't it? So I'd the 10 points stick, realistically they can only take another 10 points off for the 'new' offence. It's fuckin crazy.
  4. Yeah. You're right. But that's not the original point we're chatting about. That's a different convo in my opinion. We couldn't clob the money together from both of those players to buy one because we didn't have the money. Anybody who wants to sell a proven goalscorer, would want the money there and then. So we either go without and leave an area of the team we know we needed to improve with absolutely no back up at all...which we all would have been fuming about back in August. Now you can say they've done nothing blah blah blah...thats the beauty of being able to look back from the now. But 100% at the time, we all thought it was shrewd business and clapped it. I don't believe that we go out to buy players to contribute nothing. I believe we buy players to improve the team. And with us being skint, we have to do so with care. Again, now the opinion MIGHT be we shouldn't have bothered. At the time, there would have been a kick off. Guarantee it.
  5. You've got to remember the deals constructed for those 2 mean we haven't yet paid a penny. We wouldn't have been able to combine their fees for a better option on a 'buy now pay later' deal, because no club in their right mind would let a proven scorer go on such a deal. We're still absolutely skint remember.
  6. I give up guessing why managers do what they do a long time ago. The points you are making are right. As are mine, so
  7. Proper poor tonight. I think we all knew we'd hit a poor run at some point, this one is going on a bit longer than we feel comfortable with! I think we have to remember there's a unique pressure around the place. The 10 points off puts us in a pressured position that we wouldn't otherwise be in. Its hard, but we have to remember where we should be. And that we have been good enough to be there. Was never going to be an easy ride.
  8. So fuckin hard when you can't score! Really need DCL to find it...like, 7 games ago really!!!
  9. Must admit I thought McNeil was a lot faster than he's looked tonight. We've no pace on those wings at all.
  10. Need more going forward. McNeil and Young aren't giving us what we need.
  11. I think the fact the January transfer window was so shit shows its too low. Too many clubs needing to play it safe. I think it was said on here already, but the PL could quite possibly stiffle its own business with PSR. Although, of course, it's much more complicated than that.
  12. ...by the way, which would also make me feel that they know more clubs are going to break PSR and couldn't possibly dock 'everyone' points.
  13. Be fucking fuming...like everyone...if we get these points kept off, then more off in April... Then they change the rules next year. They surely aren't that fuckin incompetent?!!
  14. ...although I do kinda get where you're coming from. Those clubs would have been more 'defensive' and smart I guess. Whereas we tried to be the nice club willing to get out belly tickled in hope.
  15. Hopefully he steps away. 76 year old. Getting shit spat at you from gobshite fans. Better things to be doing in your final years. Fuck that.
  16. An agenda against us? No. I've never believed that as I can't see why it would be us specifically. So, yeah, for me badly run. They've brought out a bunch of rules without actually having any rules in place. Headless chickens. Not sure how Masters is still in a job.
  17. At this point I'm seeing the PL being run worse than us. That's how bad of an impression they're giving.
  18. I'm struggling to see how we can get points back via appeal, which basically means we 'won', to then be taken points off again for almost the same period we've appealed against? When, from what I've read, the latest accounts in the latest period show us to be doing much better? Either way, the PL know they've fucked this up massively. Everytime they speak, they dig the hole deeper.
  19. He does love a good dry bumming by the Arsenal, doesn't he?!
  20. Put your tampon back in Palf
  21. As always with this team, its very fine margins. There's no way we'd be on this run if DCL wasn't so off form and/or Doucs was missing. But mainly the DCL thing. It's typical. We bemoaned for ages not having a striker. Dyche takes his time getting DCL back (must be his longest run of games in years???) and in turn DCL has probably gone his longest run without a goal! It's the joys of having a really limited squad. I read something y'day that made me think. It was a dig at how badly we'd been run, in line with the 'sporting' points deduction, that we had on the pitch yesterday a 60k 35 year old. A 36 year old freebie. A 34 year old who cost 2mill. A 31 year old freebie. One on loan. Madness.
  22. Nice finish. Shame he ran off the line too early.
  23. Bollocks. Difference in quality. They only need that one shot.
