Got to be pleased with a 4-1 win tonight. Never thought that would be so. In fairness, the scoreline is a bit flattering. Wolfsburg had far too many chances for my liking. What's also pleasing is that we have Barkley, Pienaar, Oviedo, Distin missing...superb. We weren't at our best today. The best is still to come. We are still learning our way. So I said I wasn't impressed with Lukaku in the first half. And got a bit of light backlash. Well, sorry, but I was right, as it continued into the 2nd half. The difference can be seen when Eto'o came on...the difference in control, turning, passing, movement. Lukaku will learn loads from this guy. I've got mixed feelings tonight. A very good result against a good team. Yet still too many 'imperfections' in our game.

Great ball from Eto'o and finish from Mirallas. 4-0. God...very flattering.

Honestly, a lot of our play in the final 3rd has been poor.

That's how you control the ball with a defender up your arse! Lukaku will learn loads from Eto'o. Brilliant.

I think we are watching the same game, yeah. Different words, but the only thing we disagree on is Lukaku.

Really? Just shows how he splits opinions. I'm no where near a Lukaku basher but I don't rate him tonight. Didn't think he was working hard enough and some awful touches/pass attempts...but then so has Mirallas, McGeady and Naismith.

Apart from the 2 well worked goals, I'm more frustrated than happy...in a way! Wolfsburg are finding space easily. They are closing us down much better. And our passing in the final 3rd has been crap a lot of the time...All 4 attacking players are guilty too. Some real slack passing. Lukaku doesn't seem to be at it. That Naldo just does him for pace each time. It feels like we are trying to control the pace more, rather than being all gungho then knackered for the last 10. Just need to sharpen up a bit more. And McGeady and Mirallas need to run at them more.
  21. Definitely. I just read up a bit of history on England. Jeez...between us all (English, Welsh, Scottish, French, Romans, Celts, Scandinavians) there was a constant flow of battles and invasions. From all nations/cultures. Really interesting read. What stands out though is that only the strongest survived. Maybe that's why the Celtic culture dwindled. Anyway, 7 am. We'll find out.

Hang on in there! Not long now!!!
  23. Again Steve, with the EU name analogy, you're going back thousands of years. Comparing 2 totally different era's. That wouldn't happen now. Where I do agree is on EU decision making. We don't like it. So I can emphasise with the Scots on that. But that's a today argument, not one from so many years ago. Put it all together and what it shows is that politics needs to change. Each nation should have a heavy say in its own nation. No doubt. How it will change, I don't know. But the system is certainly dated. And let's not forget, the Scots do enjoy privileges that us English don't.
  24. Thanks for the bit of education! Nice. I appreciate your 'love' of your tradition. But things move on. They evolve. Something we can both relate to is when Everton finally move from GP, there will be a load of people who want us to stay based on tradition. Tradition can halt progress. Historical reasons from thousands of years ago are not a reason to vote 'YES'. As I said, too many uncertainties.
