Quite a cagey performance from us today. We look like we are making a great effort to keep it tight at the back. We haven't don't much wrong. Definitely not as gungho as usual. Howard looks solid. Hibbert is using his experience well. Stones is playing well. Besic looks like a very promising player. Baines being as marauding as ever. Naismith is finding space and setting up attacks. Lukaku has shown several nice touches and turns but his final ball is weak. For the 2nd half...McGeady needs to step up. I'd like to see Lukaku come more central or us find him more. Keep it pretty much the same but turn the intensity up a notch.

Game day! Phwoar. Knock in a few hours at work then it's time for the roller coaster ride. Gonna be a long few hours. Good luck all...may you come out the other side still healthy!!!

I kind of 2nd this. Not as strongly. But I understand the jist. It's the pettiness creeping in that is unfortunate. Comments scrutinised or taken out of context. Some of the comments at the moment are far fetched. Honestly cannot wait for us to start playing properly again. I'll save myself for then.

I'd love us to win the league cup because we've never won the thing! Or anything for 20 years! When I seen that line up though, it was clear we weren't going for it. Not enough match fitness in that line up. Rightly or wrongly, it's clearly been put down the pecking order. This season anyway.

We've got the best squad for a long time. With depth. We've tied down key players to longer contracts. We're still in the hunt for new stadium. We do loads in the community. We gave our floodlights to Barrow AFC. We're going through a blip bit we have the players and manager to get us through it. off the top of my head!

They've not started too well and a few of their players have had to go through a tough 120 minutes tonight. From the team we started tonight, we should have a fresh 10 out there. We've got a chance. Them not having Suarez is massive for them. Huge. If Sturridge is back, they'll be better but will he be 100%? They can be done at the back. And as shown in the last couple of league games, put pressure on Gerrard and he is no where near effective now. It'll be close I think.

My knee jerk reaction is that we are going to do fine. We will get all this daft shit out of our season early on and then go on an almighty run. Clean sheets galore. Goals galore. We are going to be a unit. Dunno what's happening just now, but a team doesn't turn to shit just like that. It does however go through rough patches. Every team, every season.

....I'll give you the Russian trip though. That was always going to be a pain in the arse.

This one meant nothing. Martinez has used it to have a look at a few players and give some match practice to others. That's not to say I don't criticise the team for other performances this season. Oh come on. Is anybody really surprised? Swansea at near full strength are not at all a bad team. And play some tasty football. If we were anywhere near full strength I'd be a bit more pissed. But look at our starting line up...Alcaraz, Hibbert, Gibson, Oviedo...4 players who have had no real football in 6-12 months. Then you have Garbett, Atsu, Besic and Eto'o newbies of differing qualities, experience etc. Only 3 regular players started tonight...Howard, Distin & McGeady. This isn't a team put out to win. It's a team put out to get some competitive game time. Gain some match fitness. Rest regular players ahead of the Derby on Saturday afternoon...you know it's the Derby this Saturday right? I know most of the anger is a combination of the season so far. But really? Some of the comments. Yes...I'll get flamed. But hey.

And that's the nightmare for Martinez. Experienced players with plenty of mileage making the mistakes. Maybe it's too much mileage now!
