  1. This will rumble on I guess. Traore's record stands up to Jelavic's in terms of goals per games. You can pick and choose parts of their club record (mainly question the ability of the opponent). I guess the international record might, might, tell a story...Jelavic 5 in 31, Traore 4 in 7. Also, you cant take away the fact that Jelavic went so many games without scoring. Maybe he will do ok for Hull, certainly playing alongside Long....but for us up top on his own, he couldnt do it. But I wish he bloody could have!!!
  2. Technically I didnt add up wrong....I just didnt realise the very top of the page was league goals only. Therefore, no apology has been exchanged!!!
  3. Ah, I see whats happened. At the top, if you add up the goals it comes to 87...but further down in career stats, it includes cup and euro games.
  4. Yep. I used the same source. One of us is adding up wrong???
  5. Yes but he's got 3 goals for Hull now Trev...we'd be 4th with that now.... ; ))))
  6. We defo do have a chance. An outside chance, but its not impossible. Liverpool have been immense recently, but its just shit hot form that wont last. And they certainly are shakey at the back. Its far from over, the league table for us isnt great just now (in terms of 4th), but we aint dead yet.
  7. £65k a week isnt it? Im sure we could go up to this for a scorer...especially with that sort of fee.
  8. No it shouldnt read that at all...because I wasnt talking about his whole career. If I was, then it would have said that (to be honest, averaging a club every 2 years is still pretty poor). As it is, in the last 7 years, he has played for 6 different teams. I have no problem with him. He did well for us for 6 months. But then next to nothing for over 12 months. Why would that indicate to any of you that he could make a difference? If he had carried on like he did those first 6 month, or even at 50% of that, then we would have kept him. But he offered nothing anymore...and thats unfortunate. And where do you get 116 goals from? He's got 87 club goals?!!! Plus 5 in 31 for Croatia. Hardly breathtaking. I just dont see the point in pining for something that wasnt all that anyway. Good luck to him though!
  9. He looked the business when he first joined us too. What was his record after his initial burst? At the end of the day, he's on of these that makes an initial impact then moves on. 6 clubs in 7 years says that.
  10. Pretty much bang on Haf. I find we share similar thoughts (mostly!!). So I dont post as much, because you've usually beat me to it!!! Anyway, we were 2 or 3 years needing a new era. When you get it, you expect a period of stumbling, as players and the club adjust. To see what has happened on the pitch...the style, the mentality etc is really pleasing. The only ones left dissapointed are those who expect too much or just see a league table placing as a bragging right with their mates. Thats not to say there may have been an error of judgement along the way, time will tell on these 'hot topics'. Im not bothered where we sit now, its where we sit after game 38 that counts.
  11. Well, said it before (I think), still have the same thoughts. 7th is a realistic place for us 'on paper'...those teams currently above us are the correct ones 'on paper'...just in a slightly different order to what I expected. We've done well. Very well. It aint over yet, not by a long way. We have 3 home games against utd, city and arsenal...we have a big say in what goes on above us. Our other games should, 'on paper', see us pick up a load of points. Lukaku will be back soon, hopefully his little break will have reinvigorated him and he'll finish the season how he started. If he does, I wouldnt place too much coin on us finishing 7th!!!
  12. Yeah, we've just had a run of 3 tough away games which normally we probably wouldnt expect too much from. We are playing well, receiving plenty of plaudits and positive attention. That doesnt get us points, but it helps ease the pain as a fan! Theres no need to panic...the tough games are done now. Yes we have to play Arsenal, Utd & City...but all at home. We can win those. The other games are mostly against bottom half teams. Hopefully, we can get a good load of points against them. And my final wish....in summer, spunk every single available penny on a first class 25 goal per season striker...and see the difference in how that changes our results.
  13. He's shit Haf....lacks creativity, doesnt get forward enough, doesnt score enough.....haha!!!
  14. Im originally from the Wirral, Tranmere to be exact....just by Birkenhead library to be more precise...13 Wilmer Road is bang on!!! Moved on when I was 11 to peaceful cumbria. Anyway, back to Kennedy.....
  15. Oh you's wont believe this. Some bastard has just put a friggin cat in me pigeon shed. Grrrr.
  16. McCarthy. He was in beast mode today. Brilliant.
  17. What a bastard that was! Ive felt this way a few times this season, that is gutted by the result but pleased with the performance of the team as a whole. We pushed them hard today, outplayed and out fought them for many parts of the game...you see them celebrating at the end? Thats a compliment to us. But that doesnt get us points. Although hopefully the players will get more confidence and belief to carry into the next run of games...that will get us points. Two players dissapointed me today: Miralles and Barkley. Bare with me. Miralles was missing for large parts of the game. I dont think he offered much at all, very below par. And the way we played in the first 45, if he was on fire, or even luke warm, it would have made a huge difference. Barkley still looks short of match sharpness. For me, he needs to take a step back, forget all the hype, and get back to basics. Ease the pressure on himself a bit. The difference between 2 out of sorts players? Miralles got subbed and looked sulky about it, bad attitude...you aint no world beating superstar mate...while barkley looked distraught with himself after one of those terrible passes. Barkley will self educate and get better, Miralles needs a bollocking and a rocket up his arse. Thought, for the most part, McCarthy and Barry looked immense. Especially McCarthy. Naismith did himself proud again. And the rest were fine. We still need to act quicker around the opposition penalty area. We slow ourselves down too much, and allow the others to get in shape. If we can sort this out, maybe with a fit lukaku and/or traoure, we will be once again a formidable team. Looking forward to the forthcoming fixtures...a few teams are gonna be taught a lesson.
  18. C'mooooooooonaaaaaaaah!!! Should be a good game. Be close. Hazard the main man for them just now. They dont have masses of goal scoring threat either. We've gone for a bit of experience here with pienaar and osman. Should be able to get a draw. C'mooooooooonaaaaaaaah! !!
  19. You write it off weeks ago!!!
  20. I dont care who we get....bring them right on. You gotta play tough games if you want cup glory. Although, if you had a gun to my balls...arsenal would edge it based on current form. But that can change by the time the next round is played!
  21. Now now mike. Stay on topic please.
  22. ....then maybe he needs better medical staff?
  23. Not goin to judge him on one game. He did look a bit lost. And not so sharpe. But did anyone expect anything else? Honestly? Just come back from being injured, has been transferred to Monaco...then whacked straight out to sunny england...what a rollercoaster this young man has had! People, for some reason, forget that footy players are humans too, not robots. If he plays like that after several games, then I'll be happy to see him back to monaco. But lets see. How many of you gifted people performed brilliantly in your new job?!!!
