Ian
Over the years ive always thought what a nice gesture it is when the goalkeeper comes down to the gwladys end (park end end as well i imagine...not posh enough for that end ) and the crowd clap. I know they do it at Analfield, but is it common at every ground? (The blonde hair lad at bolton is an ignorant tw*t when he comes out.. cant spell his name)
Romey 1878
Jaaskelainen? I think that's how you spell it anyway I think it's nice that we do it but I don't know about at other grounds.
EFCfanatic
It is good. But you do get a few knobheads. Jaaskelainen and Lehmann come to mind. Dont think a lot of grounds do. MikeO
The Kharkiv keeper didn't acknowledge it which was a shame. Maybe not common practise in the Ukraine.
barryj
Its a great tradition and one I hope we keep up.
Everton_Worshiper
Petr Cech didn't acknowledge us when we clapped him during the semi-final second half....

StevO
I think its common practise in most british league games
jamiemaher85
I don't think its that common. My experience of lower league football is to boo and abuse the keeper as much as possible
jacko 1990
i would second that Jamie, Last sesason when i had a ST for S'port, Keepers got abused so much. The only time we clapped them was when they fell over when taking a Goal kick Edited February 8, 2008 by jacko1990
paul
According to Billy Smith's Account of the 1888/89 season, we were doing it then so we've been doing it for at least 120 years! How good's that. Even Liverpool's goalie gets clapped, I think he does anyway?
