Churinga2
http://www.setanta.com/UK/Articles/Football/... It appears that Matuidi is not the only Ligue 1 star that David Moyes is determined to lure to Goodison Park, as it is being claimed Rennes are bracing themselves for a bid for their powerhouse Mbia. If we would by both then it would get a little crowdy on the centre midfield: Cahill, Arteta, Fellaini, Rodwell, M'bia, Matuidi and Neville would make 7 starting 11 quality players, for 3 maybe 4 spots. We need WINGERS
scouse
Move Neville to RB, Cahill to Centre forward and Rodwell to CB and then it aint so strong. Agree tho priority should be a speady winger who can beat a man.

RuffRob
Appear Arsenal are very interested in this player. I personnally don't know much about the player - but from the article written below he sound like a very useful addition http://bleacherreport.com/articles/76088-w...ring-to-arsenal Since Patrick Vieira left Arsenal in 2005 Arsenal are yet to win a trophy, and now they need to find someone who can do what he did, play like he played, and lead like he led. Arsene Wenger is moulding the likes of his terrific youngsters Abou Diaby, Alexandre Song, and Denilson into Vieira, and all look like very talented players, but I think the best option would be AS Saint Etienne's deep lying midfielder Blaise Matuidi. Arsene Wenger is suppose to be extremely interested in the Frenchman, and why not? At 21, he has already played over 100 games in the Ligue 1. Matuidi would bring a great footballing brain, stunning awareness, solid midfielding defensive, a superb partner in the center midfield for Cesc Fabregas and his best aspect is his perceptive passing. Arsenal really need all those traits that Matuidi has, and he would be sure to fill the role of Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva. Arsene Wenger is prepared to pay up to £10 million for the midfield maestro, and Matuidi said he would be open to an Arsenal move. Matuidi already has tons of experience and his strength and passing would brighten up Arsenal defence and attack which is vital if Arsenal want to have a serious chance in the Premiership and Europe. Arsenal really need a player like Matuidi so this is a must buy for Wenger, and I feel if Arsenal fail to sign Matuidi this is a huge waste of player who would be sensational at Arsenal. Matuidi would be the perfect fit for the Arsenal midfielder and though players like Denilson and Diaby—who are making big steps—would see less game time I still think Matuidi is a must buy. Felli'slovechild
Realise that there are a number of areas we need to strengthen this year, but do think that we should try and secure the likes of Matuidi or M'Bia as a direct replacement for Captain Fantastic when he decided at the end of next season that his little legs wont work like they used to!! Nailed on success in the PL either of the two mentioned and very different to what we currently have on offer!! Either greatly received.... hope u listening DM!!! In Moyes we trust... Moe Joe
But if we get Naughton flaring past him, it wont be so bad. But if we have Hibbert on right with Arteta then yes, fear for the sake of football. Edited July 5, 2009 by `Moe Joe.
EFC-Paul
I really cant see Moyes playing Arteta on the right we all saw how much of a difference it made putting him back into the middle.

Bains Osman Cahill Arteta DEFMID Pienaar Yak No i really wouldn't think so we have Mo who will be included in the starting XI and as we have seen Osman is a weak link if we are to progress, Also Lescott has not gone yet so i would not disclude him yet

Moe Joe
If we don't get a winger, we need a pacy right back. If Arteta is reverting to the right, we need someone who can flare past him. Hibbert and Arteta/Osman is just yuck and is horrible in contrast to the left side. I don't feel safe in putting Pienaar on the right either, replacing the left with a natural left footer. I think Pienaar has that extra bit of creativity which allows him and Baines to link up uniquely. Pienaar may be right footed, but he plays the through balls to Baines with his right foot, and I think Baines on his day has the most deadly cross as they come. Hard, quick, straight onto a head. For example, I don't think putting someone like Joe Ledley on the left would equal the Pienaar/Baines combo. Pienaar likes creative first touch football while Ledley is more of a traditional "run and cross" kind of dude. I'd like (sorry about the uneven formatting lol) -----------------Howard --Naughton--Yobo-----Lescott--Baines-- --Arteta---Neville--Fellaini--Pienaar-- -----------------Cahill ----------------------------Jo The right side wouldn't be bogged anymore, and Arteta could play deep balls with Naughton or 'insert pacy right back here' going forward. Furthermore I feel safer with Arteta dropping back rather than Osman, and Neville would play the defensive role out of himself and Fellaini anyway. So if Naughton got an inch out of position I still think we'd be safe. And I put Jo before Yakubu because he may not be fit. Edited July 7, 2009 by `Moe Joe. scouse
Not a bad team, i would like to see Mikel in the centre and Neville at RB and a natural right winger come in. I would have the Yak upfront if fully fit also.

Lowensda
Would be worth a punt if as expected the Banega deal farce falls through but wouldnt go for both I think we can safely say, Benega doesnt look likely anymore. Matuidi would suit the english game a tad better but Banega gives you other options.
