Matt
the title reads like you sacked him Romey, if you look at the new threads list (recently added threads)!!! Edited October 21, 2009 by galacticaracnid
jamiemaher85
Odd one this. They have been in a bad patch but won last night, still sit 4th in the league, he's forced to sell all his best players and is only given very very little to re-invest. Poor sod, don't seem right at this current time. Someone like Strachan will probably come in.

GoodisonRoad
Quite shocked at this, they were only 1 point off the top weren't they? Southgate has done really well this season after selling alot of there better players. Dont think he has spent very well though to be honest (Alves, Emnes, Digard). Still dont think he deserved the sack though.

MikeO
Inevitable and long overdue. The only thing that surprised me was him getting the job in the first place....was never going to be (and never will be) a successful manager imo. It's a shame really as he seems a nice enough bloke and always comes accross well in interviews, an honest manager. Unfortunatly he seems to have little tactical awareness and I can't see him gaining it, still though he is ten times the manager that Roy Keane is. Would have put money on Keane going before Southgate!
jamiemaher85
Me too actually. Boro- 4th in League after being stripped off assets and investing little. Strong promotion candidates. 1 point from top of league. Ipswich- Relegation candidates, no win this year, invested heavily. Bottom of league. Yes but!.....Put yourself in the shoes of the chairman doing the sacking!...In the privacy of your own office, with only one door in or out, two stories up and no one else around at the time.Would you rather sack mild mannered softly spoken Southgate....or an unshaven, wide eyed, Roy 'nutter' Keane.......When Keane get's sacked it will be in a room full of people, and loads of exits. Southgate will be back in a job within a couple of months.

evertontim
the way strachan handled celtic last season boro have NO CHANCE!
jamiemaher85
It's true. Chapmionship is alot harder division than SPL. I think Strachan could do well with Boro but it will be a real test for him, especially considering how we has done in England previously. I.e- relegation with both Cov and Southampton
