Where Will We Finish?

  • 2 weeks later...

Premier league has got a fair play Europa place....Fulham will take it.

Though if they and Blackpool, West Ham, Villa and West Brom all get into a riot next week and have six players sent off then we could still get in :P .

(Saw the news that UEFA had awarded us an extra place and thought it was the liver bird by-law kicking in. Luckily not :) )

Then again...

Edit This is saying Liverpool will get it  .

"Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are guaranteed to be playing football in Europe next season, after UEFA granted England an extra Europa League place.

England have been awarded the bonus Europa League place courtesy of the UEFA Respect Fair Play rankings, which takes into account the conduct of clubs in UEFA competitions across the season.

Norway topped the Fair Play rankings, with England finishing in second place.

The news will bring relief to Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool side, who looked to have lost their grip on a Europa League place after Sunday's 2-0 home defeat against Spurs."

Personally I hope this is the case, Europa league is not worth the hassle when you consider the disruption to the premier league schedule. For me it's champions league or nothing.

Liverpool although potentially having the funds to strengthen squad will not perfrom to their league potential if they7 are playing Thursday/Sunday. You seen how much they valued it with their squad selections in their previous jaunt. The only real benefit would be if they were going to play all their young prospects with fringe players and see how that got them.

The article's been changed now....saying Fulham have it.

But like you say Hafnia, dubious about whether it's worth getting into, certainly by this route which presumably means you go in at the start of the qualifiers so virtually no time off over the summer. First games were on July 1st last year.

I think that giving the Europa finalists a Champions League spot each would provide much larger incentive for teams to compete in the tournament.

At the moment it's just not taken seriously...

I was thinking that too. Europa is regarded in the same light as the Carling Cup.
