Matt
I wouldnt mind Everton working like that to be honest, though it could be argued that it is 'owned' by all those that put money in from season tickets, merchandise etc.... Lowensda
We'd never be able to sustain our financial safety if we did. We just don't have the fan base. 25% of Spains entire population support Barca. That's 25% of Spains entire football fan expenditure at one club! That's why they can survive

SimonButtle
And they're still massively in debt. you would be surprised at how little money they actually have anyway, they struggled to buy Sanchez and Fabregas in the summer, which you would never think that, but they did

Louis
I think it would be no different to being run under Bill Kenwright. It shouldn't be up to the owner(s) to put money, the 'company' should be able to look after itself and be self-sustaining.

But it's being run the way Kenwright is running the club that Pris doesn't like. So if we were to be fan run instead of blaming Kenwright Pris would have to call himself a useless prick. Louis
It was more of a response to TenaciousJ saying we couldn't "sustain our financial safety" under a membership scheme.
Lowensda
But we couldn't, Barca is the best example. with that many 'members' (25% of spanish population) even still they're in horrendous amounts of debt. The 'members' of Everton FC if it would ever happen, would be responsible for clearing the already accumilated debt. They couldn't afford it. It would never work for us. United? maybe. not Everton. Is it really 25percent of Spain? Of just of the Basque region? Either way it is massive!
Louis
The Basque support Bilbao. You're thinking of the Catalan Barca are popular in Canary Islands too.

MikeO
Ah yeah Catalan! Had a holiday in the Pyrénées-Orientales region of France a while back, also known as Northern Catalonia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Catalonia and there's a huge amount Barcelona support there also....the local coat of arms is red and yellow. This doesn't add much to the thread, I'm just showing off .
