That does look a tasty line-up.

And we are only two players away from that sort of line up.

The bench wouldn't look to shabby either.

It does but if we put the two players in that would play if we didnt sign Appiah and Taylor the midfield looks poor. were two midfielder away from having a very very good side.

Appiah is the perfect style of player we are looking for very much in the mould of players like Petit, Keane & Barton ideal for what we need. If we could tie this up and bring in a left sided midfielder or maybe try and convert Taylor from pompey we would have a serious fuckin team!!

Howard

Jags - Yobo - Lescott - Baines

Arteta - Cahill - Appiah - Taylor

AJ - Yak

That would scare most teams in the league!!

Looks very tasty :)

But...(yep there is a but) Neville as Captain will always play unless he is injured. Not sure where he would fit in though...

Even without Taylor it's a quality side

Howard

Baines Yobo Lescott Neville

Arteta Cahill Appiah Jags

Yak AJ

Let's not forget that Neville has played plenty games for Utd and England at right back - he's no mug and he's the club captain! Jags played plenty at right mid for Sheff U and is better there imo..

Decent enough buy cos we need something creative in the middle of the park, all we seem to be linked with is either defensive mids when we have about 8 of em already or 1 season wonders who cant get into boltons team.

Appiah wud be ideal if we'r looking to play the diamond

jags

Appiah Mikel

timmy

has everything ya need. Flair, creativity, cutting edge and solid defensive cover.

Nevilles always gonna play with being captain so i think any prospective team of ours that has him on the bench is wishful thinking, no matter how many aimless chipped balls he smacks down the line.

Neville isnt good enough for our team anymore, why doesnt Moyes realise it ffs! I think we look best with a 4 1 3 2, we played a hardworking watford team and hammered them with it.

---------------Howard-----------------

Jags----Yobo---------Lescott----Baines

---------------Carlsey-------------------

-----Arteta----Appiah----Cahill---------

-----------Johnson--Yakubu-------------

Carsley would be very effective in that formation because the Attacking midfielders and strikers could all go forward and if any teams brake Carsley is a good player to brake them up, but we would have less wasted balls that Neville would do.

thatd be a great lineup cept seeing as neville IS the skipper he'd probably go where cars is. that way pip and jags could be interchanged

Carsley's a couple of years past his best now, he needs replacing. The man can't keep up with play anymore, and seems to think he's an attacking midfielder most of the time and leaves the defence exposed time and time again.

Agree.

Not sure where the fascination of Jags playing right back is coming from. When he came on Neville went to right back, it looks as though Moyes is ear marking Jags for a midfield role.

Still think Hibbert will be in at right back.

Id rather have him there than Neville, they both hit long balls up but Hibberts good at defending Neville aint. Moyes plays Hibbo there because he knows he's a good defender, we dont see the best of him with swapping wingers because he's always marking more than one player.

I noticed he wasn't playing tonnight, think he is definately on his way out of Turkey, but I am sure a player of his quality will be wanted all over Europe.

West Ham look to be Prem rivals for his signiture. Hope he has the good sence to sign for us against them if Prem is his prefered choice.

At least it will be less than 50 hours before we know. If this move comes of then - Missing Manny may turn out to be a blessing.

Thats a bit of a drop in class after Fernandes and Appiah isnt it, maybe its a smokescreen and we are getting Appiah and Nolan.

I'd be totally fucked off by that. The whole point of getting Fernandes was for creativity, so that doesnt come off and we buy another defensive midfielder. Theres something seriously wrong in Moyes' head if he does that.

I dont belive the times, Vogel wont become and Everton player, if we still wanted him he would be in now, either Everton don't want to pay for him or he's not good enough.

Diop would just be another battling midfielder, we dont need one of them we have long ball Nev and Carlsey for that.

If Appiah didnt play expect him to be in talks with us and Westham.

I have seen the Times article - did make my heart sink a little.

I have been having a good look around on the net for anything interesting on Appiah - Reading the stuff that has been wrote about him all I can say is that HE does sound like a £12M midfeilder.

Africans In The Transfer Market - Stephen Appiah

Since the opening of this summer’s transfer market, as always, there have been numerous speculations on which stars will move and those that will stay at their current clubs. Some of the moves so far have been intriguing. And, some of Africa’s top players are also involved in the tug-of-war among clubs. In this feature, we look at Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah. He has grown so popular in the Turkish League and is a midfield genius. No wonder why he has become a fans favourite as he continues to excel in his career.

His performances have also captured the eyes of some of Europe’s best clubs and it is evident that the player is ready to start a new milestone in his illustrious career. Stephen Appiah is undoubtedly one of Ghana most renowned and combative midfielders. The 26-year-old is strong and is well known as the Black Tornado for his dominance in the midfield.

He was born in Accra on December 24, 1980, and moved to Europe in 1997.

He joined Italian club Udinese where he spent three seasons before moving to Parma in 2003.

He made significant progress over the years and was loaned to Brescia during the 2002/03 season.

In 2003, he joined Serie A side Juventus where he played for two seasons. During his first season with Juve, he featured in the Copa Italia final and also made his UEFA Champions League début. During his second season, he played only 18 games but won the domestic title with the club before moving to Turkey where he joined Fenerbahce for €8 million.

Since joining Fenerbahce, Appiah has made a big impact in the club. He recently won the Turkish League championship with them in May, a triumph that also serves as part of celebrations for their centenary year.

At the end of the 2006/07 season, Appiah who is one of Africa’s best midfielders expressed his desire to leave Turkey with the English Premier League being a possible target. Arsenal and West Ham United have all being reportedly interested in Appiah and the player, who seems desperate to leave Fenerbahce, had urged his club to look into these offers. Other clubs that have been in the race for the Ghana captain are Scottish club Celtic and German side Schalke 04.

APPIAH THE £5M MAN FOR MOYES

EVERTON boss David Moyes is making a dramatic late £5million bid for Ghana captain Stephen Appiah after Manuel Fernandes snubbed the Merseysiders.

Moyes contacted the 26-year-old midfielder's agents yesterday and will try to thrash out a price with Fenerbahce for him.

Appiah wants to go to the Premiership to follow in the footsteps of his mates Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari - and Everton could get their man if they pay the fee and his wages.

Moyes has been left in turmoil by Fernandes' shock U-turn and decision to sign for Valencia. But Appiah, nicknamed the Black Tornado because of his all-action style, is the type of physical and aggressive player Moyes needs.

With over 50 caps Appiah would have no problem with a work permit but Everton must do the deal in the next 48 hours or risk another last-minute transfer letdown.

I personally don't think we'll sign anyone now!!! If we were serious about signing whoever we would've bid by 2day, there's no chance of agreeing a fee, getting the player here (passed fit) & negotiations sorted in such a short time, unless something already been sorted which lets be Honest it hasn't knowing us!!!

Think this is our team for the 1st half of the season now...... any bets??

i cant see us signing anyone else till january

Agree with Worshipper, think there will be one more signing, but just depends who.

Would love Appiah here. Real box to box player, great engine, more creative than the other defensive guys we have at the moment, a good age and would be a wonderful buy.

Bouba Diop would be good, if he could stay fit. Added size and power in the middle. And would be cheap, but as loads of others have said, is another defensive midfielder.

But maybe we have the creative side sewn up with Pienaar. Could be the answer, and Diop the added grunt in the middle. Midfield of:

Arteta Diop Cahill Pienaar

And then we have Cars, Jags etc as cover.

The squad is looking so much better, COYB!

yea i'd be wondering that too. if he doesn't have clearance, does anyone know if he automatically qualifies for a permit?

i'd say he doesnt needa work permit

he played in italy for 5 ears with parma and juve

plus with fenerbahce and the turkish superlifa being a recognised uefa league means that hes had about 6 years in euro leagues

surely must have done enough to earn one, what you think?
