ooberman
In Saturday's edition of The Sun the British public were treated to a list of all the under-21 players that Arsene Wenger has bought for Arsenal. These players were then given either a 'Hit' or 'Miss' rating, based on how well they did after joining the club. One of the players described as a 'Miss' was Niccolo Galli, who was also mentioned in the introductory text above the table. The general point seems to be that Galli never made it at Arsenal, no-one has ever heard of him and he was therefore a duff signing. The reason Galli never made the first team at Arsenal is because he was tragically killed in a car accident in his native Italy in 2001, at the age of just 17. At the time, the young defender was a lynchpin of both Arsenal's under-17 and under-19 teams. Brimming with potential, it was evident from his displays that he would have gone on to some success. So no, Galli never made the first team. But there is a damn good reason why - and to slate him as a bad signing is a slur on the memory of a fine young player

MikeO
The problem is that it's far and away the biggest selling paper in the country...what does that say about the great British public? They cater to the masses, shape their opinions, massage their prejudices and consequently carry great weight with Government. Completely tragic but unarguable I'm afraid. This is getting off footie, sorry....I hadn't realised that about Galli, very sad for anyone to die at such an age.

rowlo-efc
the Sun - Its a waste of good world resources in the trees that are felled to make that shit! Does anybody else remember the remarks it made about Hillsborough? Okay - it was aimed at RS fans - but this great city is built on its football traditions and great, but friendly rivalry between the two teams - and nearly all Everton fans were effected by the happenings on that fateful day. the Sun is scum and that is that. If you can't read the times or the Independent (broadsheets) - then buy the Mirror or the express/Mail the daily sport is much , much better than the Scum (er...i mean the sun) and has better pics
