Alan Irvine

Hearing a lot of rumblings on our end that he's set to succeed Paul Simpson. Makes sense really, not much hope of him succeeding Moyesey since he won't be going anywhere for a while. Plus Moyes might have been telling him what a great club PNE is to start your management career.

Anyone on your side heard anything?

And does anyone have an opinion on whether he'd make a decent manager? Personally I hadn't heard of him until these rumours started.

You wont know how good he'll be until he starts picking teams and applying tactics!

If he sits in as Evertons number two he could be in a good job for years with no hassle, if he moves on and struggles, well he's out of the comfort zone!

Depends on the man! Never a great player, but then again nor was Alex Ferguson.

If he were to leave what kind of replacement would you look for? Tried and tested british, someone on the continent, south american, african or asian? ;)

Someone with an attacking background rather than the defensive minds of Moyes and Irvine. Just something different, I don't mind where they're from or even their experience as a number 2

Must say I am a little surprised that there isn't a little more interest in us keeping Irvine. We have continued to improve/evolve under Moyes and it is only fair that Irvine gets some of the credit for this as they are a management team.

If he gets the chance and fancies it, then he goes with good wishes. But why would we be keen to rock the boat?

Evolution not revolution is the only way it can be for us in this age of the game.

Would rather him stay as he has been part of the steady progress that we have made with him and DM but then don't blame him for wanting to try out being a boss instead of a number 2.

Look at Utd with AF number 2 went to Madrid didn't work out and came back so you never know.

But heres hoping if he gone then he has a good time there and a good long run

not overly concerned by Irvine leaving, as long as morale isn't affected too much. I can't really remember too many players we've bought/ brought through who have become much better players in their time here and we've only been successful playing one formation, can't seem to defend a corner this season etc. He's done a decent job but like others have said, I'd like to see some new ideas brought in and a bit more attacking flair and better defensive organisation while we're at it!
