  1. No deals from Italy announced yet either, or Barkley... More players will come and go, exciting transfer window for Everton. Enjoy it.
  2. The Spain U21 side will teach us a little more of what's to come hopefully. Gerry captain, with some unbelievable talent around him, highlights of game 1, ?? Spain V Macedonia ?? http://m.footytube.com/video/all-goals-highlights-spain-u-21-5-0-macedonia-u-21-17-06-2017-498693
  3. Lookman looks sharp, just needs to develop his finishing.
  4. Quality striker, fingers crossed we hold onto him for minimum 1 more season. We need Rom to push to win the title next year. Yes I said title, why would you start with any less ambition before you've even kicked a ball?
  5. Midfield to change... Barry out, Holgate in. 3 - 5 - 3

    Spurs

Organisation at the back is looking good. Solid wall with the 3 CB's. Like what I'm seeing in the first 20mins

    Spurs

2-1 Barkley and Mori to score. Deulofeu to assist both.
  8. Win the league. Don't know why you would be wanting anything less before a ball has been kicked. Get behind them COYB
  9. Holgate or Lennon as backup at RB/RWB depending on the opposition and what's required. I see a lot more clean sheets than last year, especially if we add Kone' for competition for spots and depth. We have enough goals in the team to be a top 6 side, clean sheets was what cost us last year. How different would our year of been if by the end of January, we hadn't thrown away so many 1-0 and 2-0 leads... Motivation would have been there, pushing toward top 4. Get on Everton in fantasy prem for clean sheets!
  10. Based on the 'links' so far I'm hoping for the below by the end of the window (all if's buts maybes and wishful thinking). But aside from a RB it would leave us with a great squad. In: Draxler (75M) Mata (35M) Bony Williams (15M) Out: Stones 35M The dregs (we know who they are)
  11. Rate him highly, but he got worked out last season twice and didn't add another string to his bow, to predictable. Whenever he has the ball on the right in the final 1/3, he goes to his right. After this got found out, when defenders stood off, he played an early cross if it was on. This worked, but relies on Rom getting into a position to get onto the cross, and the defender not beating him, its a low percentage ball (though he is extremely accurate), this rarely creates a chance. Again, central defenders clued onto this, and re-worked to defend against him. I believe this is where he is currently stuck. At least under the old system. I'm interested to see what new tricks he has learnt, and what the new system brings out in him. I scream every time I see him near the box with the ball to go left. Hope we see it this season to add to his unpredictability. Massive potential, but still developing.
  12. The shock loss to teams of lesser quality happen, this is the Prem, this is why it's the best league in the world, it's competitive, it's unpredictable. If we had closed out a couple more games late on, how different would our season look with and extra 4 or 6 points.... Top 6-7 and in distance of a top 4 place. We have missed the experienced players this year, against City, with 85 mins on the clock, Baines made the most of some contact, ate a couple of minutes off the clock. Osman was standing over free kicks, in the refs ear, slowing things down, stopping momentum building for a city comeback. With things calm, the team responded with 5 minutes of excellent possession play. We have missed some key experienced players this year, in a inexperienced team. This isn't a glaring problem, it's a direction the club is going in, and it's only the start of that journey, it needs time, not a new manager. Off field Martinez has being epic, majority of signings have being excellent, he gives youth a chance rather than playing senior players out of position. A gripe from the Moyes era. Everton's youth structure is going from good to excellent, with consistent new signings, direction and opportunity. While I'd love Everton to win the league this year, and won't be happy until we do, I am very happy with the direction this club is heading in. I back Martinez. The club however, needs to do a much better job on there international footprint. The premier league is a global business now, Everton does the local community very well from what I see from Australia, but it's engagement and marketing to a global audience is a long way from where it needs to be for growth and investment that's needed to compete consistantly for titles. This is not a sack the chairman statement, its find a new Chief Marketing Officer, with pedigree and success in a multinational company.
  13. Has to, and will be our best 11, this is not game for an experimental (second string) line up like the first round of the league cup. Injuries and knocks will dictate who will start after Leicester game. (Injuries may be an issue post game with the artificial pitch) Here's my predicted lineup, with Barry suspended in the league, he is a walk up start. McArthy's slow return to fitness will dictate wether he starts here or if they are still monitoring his minutes. Obvious replacement been Besic if he's fit after been subbed at half time against Chelsea. I expect us to sit a little deeper as we have been the last few games, let them have the ball at times and use the counter attack with Mirallas and Lukaku. Predicting an Everton win, 0-2 Howard Coleman Stones Jagielka Baines McArthy Barry Naismith Barkley Mirallas Lukaku
  14. Hoping Everton has some interest in Matt Ryan next season, might be far stretched but he did come from the Mariners before moving to Belgium.
  15. Smart play by Mirallas, new TV rights means he can ask for a big bump in pay to sign a contract extension. You see this tactic in other codes with players who back there ability, and have the backing of a smart player manager. Hope we hold onto him and his glass hamstrings.
  16. Clean sheet No mistakes that turned into goals against 0 shots on target from West Brom Stones looking like his got his swagger back Wins will come on the back of a solid defence, that we haven't had all season. We are still in Europa league and have a great draw for the round of 32 You English are a miserable lot!!!
  17. Rumours about of Borussia Dortmund interested in him as well.... Stories to sell papers like most rumours, I can;t see him going anywhere until the end of the season. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/evertons-kevin-mirallas-transfer-radar-4995866
  18. How you can want to get rid of Cahill is beyond me. Great squad player, agreed, last year wasn't his best, but he looked very good as the team lifted in the last 1/3 of the season. Against Japan he was immense, brought players in by competing for balls he had no right to win, with his experience and timing. Everton don't have alot of depth, last season, at one point we had a bench that was full of teenagers who hadn't played a single Premier League game, so to want to sell a player, who can play up front on his own, behind a striker, or midfield is complete madness. To many people always thinking the grass is greener on the other side, every week wanting to get rid of players like Hibbert, Neville and Cahill. Yes they all have there weakness', but 1 on 1, I would back them to win against any player in the premier league, and that is there quality. How many times did Hibbert negate a threat down the rights last season, Neville put in block or come in as a second defender, Cahill battle through midfield to force a turnover and break up the opposition play. These people are the glue of the squad, they bring the squad together behind the scenes and set the tone to get the players working as a team. They are Everton. Without them, last year could have seen us staying in that relegation scrap. And then there's the teenagers we all lay our hope in year in year out, waiting for another Rooney. Who do you think the teenagers look to but the experienced squad members about work ethic, desire to win, overcoming injuries, and having the right mindset to be at the top of a volatile industry where your every move is under the magnifying glass, and you can go from the hero to forgotten in a very short time. We need our experienced players, stop hoping to flog them off if you want Everton to continue to be successful.
