  1. Agree. Sandro whips in a mean free kick. Much rather see he and Rooney take those then blow 40 mil on a fairly one-dimensional player.

Yup. I don't see a need for a dead ball specialist in our side. I don't think he's shit. I just don't think he's worth more than £20m, even in today's market. He's worth far more than that to Swansea by being a serviceable creative force and their free kick specialist.

  2. No I'm a socialist so independent here since they aren't relevant. Voted Green Party last election. I would take the hug because I'm a hugger and enjoy them. Not feeling David brooks currently because they are failing and he's floundering.

Socialist and proud member of the "Dirtbag Left," myself. I voted Clinton in November, only because I knew PA would be close and didn't want Trump. At least with a Dem, the left can press them into adopting more equitable policies. Trump... shit's hopeless.

Did you see David Brooks' article last week about going out to lunch with his "working class friend"? Apparently, working class people are terrified of paninis but love Mexican food. Who knew?

  3.

my brother lives there (and has for 15 years), i was just there this last weekend. That is such a funny phrase because it's only used in the Pittsburgh area (that i know of, maybe WV too?). I love how the midwest/atlantic region everyone thinks they don't have an accent (my hometown of cleveland taking the prize there). This article is what i used to prove to my parents when i moved back that they had an accent (after living in the south for a while i have a little twang/use y'all, they swore cleveland has no accent, i win).

Yup. I've always called it the "Great Lakes accent." The most characteristic sound is really hard "A"s. My (soon to be -ex) wife is from Syracuse. There's no difference in pronunciation when she says the name "Al" and the word "ale." Both sound like "ale."

The weirdest thing is how my hometown, Erie, PA, lacks both this accent (found to the east and west in Cleveland and Buffalo) and the Pittsburgh accent (directly to the south). Historical settlement patterns weren't that much different, other than a surprisingly large percentage of settlers coming from Connecticut. Wherever I go in the states, people inevitably make a comment about how I don't have an accent or have a "Hollywood accent." It's strange.

  4. Yea he was immense. If only we could sign Pulisic. He would pay off his fee in jersey sales to American fans within the week. I think Everton would do well to consider a preseason U.S. tour in the future. It's telling when some of the biggest teams in the world make this a priority via the International Champion's Cup. Coincidentally, I'm going to be at the Roma Vs. PSG game this Wednesday in Detroit.

First of all, I would cream in my jeans if we signed Pulisic.

Second of all, Everton have done US preseason tours in the past. I went in 2011 to see Philadelphia Union v Everton. I don't think Everton have been in the US since the 2013 "international champions cup" or whatever in LA, though. I'd really appreciate another US trip. But, it seems that the club is looking to expand its brand on other continents for now.

  5. Leicester supposedly only want £30mill for Mahrez. There's a good player in there.

Can't see how Sigurdsson comes out at £20mill more.

I'm not a huge fan of Mahrez, but I'd take him over Sigurdsson (especially at that price), because IMO we have a greater need for a player in his position and he offers more in open play.

  6. But Kyle Walker, a 29 year old defender coming back from injury, has gone to Man City for £50m and nobody bats an eyelid.

People just don't understand capitalism. A player, a house, a car, a meal; they're all worth whatever a person is willing to pay for it

TBH, that's a pretty shallow, narrow, microeconomic understanding of how value is produced or even decided upon.

Also, holy shit, is Kyle Walker seriously 29???? I thought he was like 25-26... Yikes.
