I've thought the same thing....it's it virtually all the reports as a reason for them being "jaded". OK they had travelling time involved but it's hardly arduous getting transfered in a luxury coach and having a two hour first class flight home. They'd have been home in bed probably only about five hours after our lads. Not to mention the fact that they were playing against a team of pensioners anyway .
  2. Sixty-one was enough in 2005 . Won't be this year though The important games are City, Villa and Spurs....all away. If we could take six or seven points from those anything's possible. These are what have cost us . Burnley (A) lost. Stoke (H) drew. Wolves (H) drew. Bolton (A) lost. Hull (A) lost. Birmingham (H) drew. Three points out of eighteen in those; plus the two Liverpool games where we deserved more than we got.
  3. Officially it's just fifth that gets Europa. The other two places go to the cup winners unless they're qualified through the league. So really we need teams that are going to finish above us to win them starting with United beating Villa. Not sure what the rule is this year regarding the FA Cup....used to be that the runners-up got the place if the winners didn't need it but I think I heard that that's no longer the case. Could be wrong.
  4. What a complete load of pretentious shite....players look as thick as f'ck going along with it (and pretending they understand). Would Dixie have scored sixty-one if he'd had three different types of material regulating his localised body temperature? Bollocks.
  5. Welcome Gypo. '68 final was a big one for me also, my dad got two tickets for it and took my brother while I watched it on TV . Sickener.

Heitinga goes up for a free header and Rooney barges into his back with his hands on his shoulders. Wes Brown (was indeed him and not Fletcher) watches the ball onto his arm and makes no attempt to get it out of the way....if he doesn't handle it it goes through to Saha with an open goal. Both could easily have been given.
  7. Don't see any problem with that....we've picked up Belgians with Fellaini and any number of new Yank fans with Donovan. The way you find the true calling is less important than the fact that you do .

Beat me to it Kohen . You missed out... "...it was like Manchester United were in Blue..." (Hansen) Also we should have had two penalties. Stonewall for me...Rooney's blatant push on Heitinga and Fletcher's handball before the Donovan chance. Could have been four or five.
  9. Maybe should have explained up front . Because of the problems with the site crashing due to high usage (still not completely resolved but should be very soon) we decided to put it into what's called "performance mode" for the duration of the game and for a while after. How it works... "If you receive a sudden influx of traffic, you can use this feature to address the spike in activity quickly. ..disable many of the slightly more resource intensive features of the site that are not fully critical to the site's operation. Examples include private conversations and searching." Seems to have worked because we made it through the day in one piece . Be back to normal in a bit.
  10. Loved that bit....wife thought we'd scored again because I shouted something like, "...'king brilliant Ossie!!" at the screen .
  11. Nineteen points from a possible twenty-four in the last eight games, playing Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United, Chelsea and Man City in the process. That's League winning form....if only we'd had a half decent start....ten weeks ago we were three points and two places of the relegation spots We've got twelve games left....almost all against "lesser" teams than those although City, Villa and Spurs away will be tricky. No reason at all why we can't average two points a game from those if we continue to play the way we have been. Seven wins, three draws and two defeats would do it. We've got Hull, Bolton, West Ham, Fulham and Pompey (maybe) to come to Goodison....expect to win all of those but say we have a bad day and draw one. Then Spurs, Birmingham, Wolves, Villa, City, Blackburn & Stoke away. Need to win three and draw two of those. Sixty-two points. Europa without a doubt .

Nice to see Mike Phelan admitting we deserved to win, as Ray Wilkins did last week. Bit of class that (sadly) we can never expect from our nearest neighbours.

BBC text... "Osman has bossed the midfield for the majority of this game - from a United fan." Nice one .

Encouraging half....important we got straight back into it after their goal. We could even win this but I'd still be tempted to take a point if it was offered now....memories of the 2007 game still fresh .

  20. Extended her lead after the the third run...another track record. Would be our first individual Gold since that obnoxious twat Robin Cousins in 1980. (and such a nice arse ) Agree with that.
  21. Anyone watching (in about 20 mins) the women's skeleton bob? Good chance of a medal (hopefully gold) for Amy Williams. Even if she doesn't win it's worth watching because I love the way their lycra clad bottoms wobble at speed....is that wrong of me ?
  22. Believe he's talking Michael Johnson . How quickly we forget .
