  1. Brilliant.....was looking forward to this coming on line. A random dip into the minutes from a board meeting in 1891/2..bonuses. That's £1 and 50p for those unfamiliar with LSD .
  2. Zeitgeist is literally "spirit of the time" therefore Rhino for me is a far better example than Duncan. He's decribed as a legend more than far more worthy players like Sharpy an Latch (on here at least) because he played in the age of the internet and the vast majority of people on here are of that age.
  3. I'm saying no more for now. Sure it'll come up again but we've been there recently and this is not the thread for it anyway .
  4. Iconic goals against United for sure and his strike rate (six in fifteen) is reasonable but four goals in sixteen games against Liverpool is nothing to shout about; specially as his first one was the only one scored in a game that we won . Not for me, sad indictment of where the club was that people feel that way . Unsworth maybe, but never Ferguson. Anyway, best to leave this alone for now....we've been here too recently....I'm saying no more.
  5. Not wishing to open up old arguments  . But... ...but all he had to provide ammo for him was Kanchelskis and Limpar on the wings and Hinchcliffe's rubbish corners......hence he only managed seven goals in twenty games. Heroic of him given the circumstances, especially the ones against the might of Stockport and Port Vale in the cup . What a legend .

Loved Yak going straight to Baz when he scored . Nice touch.
  7. Twenty years ago it was September 1989, so what does the team of the eighties have to do with it ?
  8. Last night's game highlights are all on the BBC website so presumably today's games will be on in time; looks like about 2/3 minutes each game which will probably be more than they show on TV tonight . UK only though I'm afraid .

Made up for him. Academy lad to captain (even if it's only once). Brilliant.
  10. Tough one to call given the lack of coverage but feel free to vote based on commentary/reports/highlights/personal prejudice etc .

Early night for me then . Ossie the next permanent captain ?
  13. The thing is though Captain, it won't be lost on people because it's a well thought out intelligent post. Have a look at Hafnia's other posts, he broadly agrees with you but he gets intelligent replies even from people (such as myself apart from the intelligent bit ) who have a different point of view. You make wild (unsubstantiated) claims as truth (and ignore anyone who invites you to back them up) and belittle anyone who disagrees with you. You are your own worst enemy.....your points are lost on people because of the way you make them, not because we're all stupid. P.S. You're plainly capable of sensible discussion evidenced by your contribution in the Diouf racism thread, so why not give it a go in other areas ?
  14. Racism is rife everywhere; wherever groups of people are gathered there will a racist element and it'll come out if the opportunity presents itself. The Everton crowd is no different from any other (although we were historically one of the worst) and I don't think it'll ever be completely eradicated sadly. Things are a lot better than they were but how to get rid of the hardline morons (or educate them) who are a small but still significant minority I really don't know. All anyone can do as an individual is to not keep quiet and ignore it, make it known that you find it unacceptable.

Sadly, in terms of media interest, our game is probably the least attractive of the six being played tonight. We'll be lucky to get 30seconds of highlights on the beeb I fear .

I know....it's a drag but we don't get in from the fields 'til after eleven so kindly they put it on later (after the days farming highlights). Long day because we're all up at 4.00am to milk the combine harvester .

Thanks for that Iggy...I've been scouring the ITV channels looking for the highlights . Was ITV last year (and for a long time) wasn't it? Anyway, it's 11.20 here so there looks to be regional variation .
  18. Steady on Milky that was very nearly a sensible post ! You'll get yourself a reputation if you carry on like that!
  19. Perfectly valid point of view well put across (unlike many), no problem at all with you expressing it. My only issue was the fact that you used a post that was clearly (chooses word carefully) er....naïve in the extreme to post it. To be fair, the excitement on here over the Heitinga signing was the greatest I've ever seen, much more than when The Yak signed . I was excited by Bily also (even more so after the AEK game).
  20. He's an inmate....was at Arsenal and West Ham himself before going off the rails.
  21. Don't believe you are using such a plainly ridiculous post to indulge in yet another (yawn) BK bashing rant. Never an opportunity missed eh ?
  22. Irrelevant...it's the net spend that counts. Liverpool brought in £35m, ManU are plainly well in profit if you include the ladyboy sale and Chelsea (for them) spent petty cash.
  23. Anyone watching Ian Wright's Football Behind Bars on Sky? Moses' brother Joe is on it.
