  1. There are twelve singles matches, one point for a win, half a point for a draw. We need to get seven points because, as holders, we keep the trophy if it's a draw. It's currently 10-8 because we've won one match each so far. Of the other ten we're currently behind in five, up in four and one's all square, so at the moment it doesn't look great but it can change quickly...I hope .
  2. By listening to the commentary, watching the highlights, listening to opinions of many people who did watch the game, reading ten or twelve press reports and then taking a wild stab in the dark. It's not rocket science and it's not really very important...supposed to be fun .
  3. OK. Two wins from the first four matches....two from the second four and three from the final four, Harrington holing an eight footer for the decisive win on eighteen. Finishes 14-14 and we retain the cup. No problem .
  4. And another thing....at least we're not Spurs....or Newcastle.
  5. Likewise, but I'll have to rely on MOTD and press reports along with impressions from the radio and online commentary.
  6. Agree 100%, no argument with that. It's disappointing to only get a point, even though we should be grateful we got one in the end.
  7. Ridiculous and disrespectful thing to say. Hull have earned their place in the Prem and have beaten Newcastle and Fulham, plus got a draw at Blackburn. Check at the end of the season and see how many sides take more than seven points from away games at the promoted teams, it won't be many. And look on the bright side, we're still well ahead of ManU .
  8. Current Player of the Year standings.... 9. 24 Howard 18 Neville 06 Jagielka 04 Yobo 03 Baines 21 Osman 25 Fellaini 10 Arteta 08 Castillo 17 Cahill 22 Yakubu Substitutes 01 Nash 05 Lescott 09 Saha 14 Vaughan 19 Nuno Valente 26 Rodwell 37 Baxter
  10. Seven points needed to retain the cup and Faldo's put his "big guns" at the end. Poulter, Westwood and Harrington at 10,11 and 12. Different tactic, hope it's still live by the time they count.
  11. Having read this this morning... ...I did a bit of reseach and came up with a photo of Harris with his preferred buyer. Dead secret this so don't tell anyone. ...down a bit....
  12. Wonderful post Jimmy, and a load of bollocks. Whether another manager could have achieved it or not is immaterial (I supect few could), because if they had their market value would have increased to the same level as Davey's. I presume you're just playing Devil's advocate to get a bit of debate going. There's no blackmail, no unreasonable demands, no bad management (a few mistakes maybe) and he'll be the most important signing for years when he puts his cross on the dotted line. Will it make us the only club where the manager is the highest earner?
  13. Found this on another Everton forum, so some may have seen it. Cracked me up big time...
  14. Letter of the law it was offside by a couple of inches but how the ref could be sure of that fck knows (and he said it was his decision, not the assistant's). How Rafa can say it was a "massive mistake" though I'm not quite sure . His argument must be, "It was offside but the ref couldn't have seen it so it should be allowed....do you know who we are!!" Nice that we scored three past a team they couldn't break down though, following on from scoring two in midweek against a side they finally got past after 200+ minutes . You just get a horrid feeling about Gerrard coming to Goodison on 99....plus Keane desperate to get off the mark . Gonna be a nervy time for our....er....rock solid defence .
  15. It is, bit of a recovery this morning but we're only ahead in one game, behind in two and a/s in one coming to the end of today. Need to turn in a couple of wins at least to stand a chance tomorrow.....won't win if we go into the singles three points down.
  16. Good grief....51/2 to 21/2 down. That's gonna be tough to get back.
  17. Price of petrol's screwed me (along with disposable income falling all the time due to inflation/bills rising etc), it's a 500+ mile round trip. I was there last year for Kharkiv and try to make two/three trips to Goodison a season but I'll struggle to make it once this year . Maybe need to try Westcountry Blues but travelling on a coach always makes me ill <_< .
  18. Looks like some bloke making it up as he goes along Louis. Can't find any mention of the criteria used. http://www.worldclubrankings.com/2008/09/w...new-number.html And he obviously has no faith at all in his system if, "Everton is here more by default than any other reason..." Are they not there because they came 25th by his reckoning? He might just as well say, "Chelsea are top by default..." Meaningless.
  19. This is pretty much my only source of knowledge for current music Mark. Turnaround since I spent seventeen years of my life working in the music biz telling everyone who'd listen about great new bands coming through . My greatest triumph was in 1978 when my boss played me a demo of a new band we were working on for A&M which he thought was brilliant....I hated it and told him I didn't think they'd ever get anywhere. It was The Police .
  20. Like that Mark. Am listening to Remote Control....classic Tubes album .
  21. Mickelson/Kim v Harrington/Karlsson (All square after 16 holes) Leonard/Mahan v Stenson/Casey (USA 3 up after 15 holes) Cink/Campbell v Rose/Poulter (All square after 13 holes) Perry/Furyk v Westwood/Garcia (USA 2 up after 12 holes) Looking a bit dire at the mo .
  22. Tim Howard and Victor Anichebe are fitness doubts for Everton ahead of the trip to Hull. Anichebe was stretchered off during the 2-2 draw with Standard Liege on Thursday. Although his injury isn't as bad as first thought, he didn't train on Friday and will be assessed on Saturday ahead of the game on Sunday afternoon. Everton boss David Moyes also revealed that goalkeeper Howard played against the Belgian side with a virus. That affliction is still affecting the American - and he too will be monitored over the weekend. Long term injury absentees Steven Pienaar (broken toe), Tony Hibbert (knee) and Lars Jacobsen (shoulder) are still sidelined, while Louis Saha isn't yet at full fitness. But Marouane Fellaini comes back into the reckoning after he was cup-tied in for the Uefa Cup clash. Moyes told evertonfc.com: "It's not as bad as first thought. Victor is walking about now. He's not trained today but we will hopefully know a bit more tomorrow. "There are one or two knocks and bruises. Tim is still suffering from a virus so we will have to see how he is." The boss also admitted he may alter his side based on the exertions of the midweek tie. "We might make changes," he declared, "Partly because we have had a game in midweek. I will look at it and see who is ready to come in." Everton: Howard, Turner, Nash, Neville, Yobo, Jagielka, Lescott, Baines, Valente, Castillo, Fellaini, Osman, Cahill, Arteta, Vaughan, Anichebe, Yakubu, Rodwell, Baxter, Agard, Wallace, Gosling.
  23. If DM switches it and it works then it stays switched for me. Would destroy any hope Baines has for his career at Everton to drop him if he did a good job.
  24. Thanks for that Paul....I'm feeling much better about this now....not going to let it go for sure!
