  1. Spurs v Bolton preview. "I was playing Scrabble the other day and had enough letters to make the word Tottenham. Even though it was on a triple word score, I still only got two points. I was in north London the other day on the train. Around Tottenham there was a points failure. I could go on. If Tottenham don't win this game and have another eight players sent off, it could not only be the end for Ramos but there may a fantastic fight on the pitch between Spurs players who have now started slagging each other off. Excellent." Are Spurs "too good to go down" like Leeds were, or could it happen? Personally I think they'll get out of it but it's quite funny while it lasts (or until they overtake us ).
  2. Slip of the finger by sheedy....he meant 1986. Heath, Power and Steven x 2 .

    Man Utd (home)

Would have been better with Bet 365. Rodwell 1st (66-1) and 1-4 (22-1) gives you better than 1500-1 . Realistic odds though.....ain't gonna happen. I'm gonna go for a 4-1 home win with a Tony Hibbert hat-trick (320,400-1) .
  4. You cant possibly say that, just because it's what you'd have done you're assuming that everyone else operates on the same motivation as you (and Rooney) do. Matt le Tissier (for example) could have made hugely more money than he did and played in Europe but he chose to stay loyal to Southampton.
  5. Not surprised at that story Jamie, there's a definite connection between generations and the brain has hugely more power than any of us ever use. I was driving over Exmoor when Josh was a baby and (I swear to God) I heard him cry....should mention he wasn't in the car with me, I was working and he was at home. It was so intense I pulled straight over and phoned the wife....she said, "Can I call you back, Josh has just fallen out of his high-chair and banged his head....." He was screaming in the background. Coincidence? I don't think so. It's pretty much accepted that twins often have some sort of connection over and above the norm, definitely something in it.
  6. Been blasting myself with the classic Bachman Turner Overdrive album, Not Fragile. Love it!
  7. Given that it'll be his first visit back to Goodison since he (or his publishers) had to pay Moyes compensation maybe his attitude will be a little different. His feelings about the club may have been coloured by swallowing the shit that Stretford fed him around the time of the transfer, but now he knows the truth is it too much to ask for a little humility and respect for the side that he supposedly loved and who played a huge part in making him what he is today? It's an opportunity for him to repair some of the damage and he'd go up greatly in my estimation if he took it....but sadly I can't see it happening.
  8. August 1981 I was on holiday in South Devon and visited Burgh Island several times (great pub called The Pilchard on it). Short time after I got home my mother phoned me to say she'd been contacted out of the blue by my Godfather, who I'd not seen since we moved house (in Uxbridge, Middx) when I was two years old.....she'd asked where he was living now and he'd said "Burgh Island!" "That's a coincidence" said my mum, "Mike's just been down there on holiday." "I know," said the Godfather, "that's what made me contact you." "How did you recognise him?" asked mum, "You've not seen him since he was a baby." "I didn't, my mother told me." "How did she recognise him?" asked my confused parent. "She didn't, she doesn't live here, but she phoned and told me my Godson was on the island.....she's psychic." That's the truth.....I went down again a while later and met up with him....top bloke. Can't explain it, neither could he.
  9. Are you sure you've understood correctly Louis? It says "review," not "renew" which could possibly put a completely different slant on their purpose....meaning RBS should make sure the facility stays in place.
  10. Sorry Adam no idea....being a cheapskate I've got my lad reduced stuff from the current catalogue. Advantage of being in Devon is that no-one knows it's "last years," and Evertonians are as rare as successful Icelandic bankers down here anyway .
  11. Spot the Brain Cell. A new puzzle. Have a go; 30,000 points for the correct answer. (The eagle eyed among you may spot an apparrent mistake, the lack of any grid numbers/letters. This is, of course, because there is no correct answer)
  12. Andy van der Meyde makes his return from injury tonight. The Dutchman has been out since pulling his hamstring against Nottingham Forest in pre-season but he will play for the reserves against Bolton at the Halton Stadium (Kick off 7pm). Van der Meyde is joined in the starting XI by James Vaughan, the striker who scored twice for the second string in last week's 3-2 victory over Liverpool. Goalkeeper Iain Turner also gets a much-needed run-out as he takes over from Carlo Nash. Andy Holden's side are still unbeaten this season, and currently sit atop the Barclays Premier Reserve League North. Also included in the side are last week's freekick hero Lee Molyneux and midfielders Dan Gosling and James Wallace, who were both unused substitutes for the first-team clash with Arsenal at the weekend. Seventeen-year-old Hope Akpan has also earned a start following his impressive cameo in the mini-derby while James McCarten marks the signing of his first professional contract with a starting berth. ....and we're 3-0 down at half time . Turner Irving Molyneux Barnett McCarten Wallace Gosling Akpan Vaughan Van der Meyde Kissock
  13. Just made a bit of cash off ebay so I thought I'd get myself one today. JJB Exeter is full OS price....£44.99 <_< . Out on its own again by far, Liverpool shirt for example £33.00....less than a small boys Everton @ £34.99. I didn't bother, not willing to be ripped off to that extent by anyone .
  14. I can't remember that far back Bill .
  15. Wouldn't be so sure personally, Mansell (up against Linford Christie, Sally Gunnell, Chris Boardman, Redgrave/Pinsent & the Searle brothers) was massively popular with the general public (stark contrast to Hamilton who tends to polarise opinion). Damon Hill wasn't quite such a big star but we only got one gold in Atlanta that year (Redgrave/Pinsent again) and also he had the advantage of a huge amount of people still being young enough to remember his father, who was a bona fide national hero . No assurance he's going to win the title anyway, if Ferrari can get ahead of him at the start (quite likely in Brazil) then all they have to do is back him up until Alonso catches up and he'll run him off the road ! Hamilton's favourite for sure, but Rebecca Adlington will run him very close, Chris Hoy is a bit too much of a dour Scot to win I think but he'll get third. If I voted it'd be for Ben Ainslie but he's not got a chance, he'd need to win London 2012 and (wherever) 2016 and match Redgrave's five to take it. My tip. Get your money on Andy Murray for 2009.
  16. That's my problem...it needs to be an Everton design, and it needs to be unique. Current designs, trends and fashions are irrelevant to me as is who makes it (though I'd draw the line at Primark ). Got a few nice bits off the OS for the lad for Christmas yesterday, reduced prices also (£22.95 for the three including delivery).
  17. Well that was worth getting up for :sleeping_03anim: .
  18. Did the trick last season if I remember rightly.

    Arsenal (away)

How in the hell did Lescott manage to miss that header....he had the whole goal completely open and managed to direct it straight to Clichy on the far post, the near post wasn't covered and Almunia had gone walkabout. Could have made a big difference to go in 2-0 at half time.

67:10 Shot by Ayegbeni Yakubu (Everton) mishit left-footed from left side of penalty area (12 yards), defending throw-in by Gael Clichy (Arsenal). Oops .
