  1. Every one of them was absent in the first leg (keeper excepted).
  2. Saw this on TV at the week-end. Dreadful tackle on Andy King, note the lack of complaint from the players....amazing. What would be the response to that today? Also an old fashioned "interfering with play" offside call for people who think the rule today is barking. How can it be disallowed? 4ZqvYpG4KBM
  3. That would also screw Berwick, though the chances of them qualifying are a little slim .
  4. Fair point. I very often vote on the basis of highlights and match reports, but it's obviously not the same as seeing the game live so I can see why people would choose not to.
  5. What's going on people? Only 15 votes in the MOTM so far, over fifty for the last two games! Get voting...link's in my sig....
  6. According to the weather forecast this morning you locals are going to get a bit of what we've just had down here. Eighty mph gusts on Wednesday evening . Could be a farce....or even postponed.
  7. Strange discrepancy and a shame for them (Cardiff)....what would be the position if Berwick Rangers ever qualified for Europe? And Monaco have no problem taking their place when they've earned it. Reminds me of a bit of useless trivia...how were there three English League teams in the quarter finals of the 1971 European Cup Winners Cup? Answer is fairly obvious given the thread, Man City Cup holders, Chelsea FA Cup winners and Cardiff Welsh Cup winners from the days before the LOW existed. Incidentally (unbelievably), for the younger majority who don't know their Cardiff history ... QtmFiTCLObo ...sadly for them lost the away leg 2-0.
  8. Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has terminated talks with Dubai International Capital (DIC) over acquiring a 49% stake in the club. DIC had earlier announced it was in advanced talks to buy a stake in the Anfield side. But in a statement on the Liverpool website, Hicks said: "I have decided to exercise my right to veto any sale of any portion of Kop and the club to DIC. "We will explore other options as regard to the ownership of the club." Wonder what that last bit means? Dragging on for them though....shame .
  9. The team that is highest in the fair play league and not qualified by any other criteria gets the place. Position in the league is irrelevant. Could be Derby, currently it's us (assuming Liverpool qualify elsewhere, and if they don't we won't need the fair play place anyway ).

    Fulham (away)

Nice piece again Bill. Fulham certainly have some fight left in them and Bullard's dangerous, but we seem to be able to cope with all these type of games this season so we'll hopefully take another three points. I said I'd settle for a scrappy 1-0 at Sunderland and the same again would do nicely .
  11. ....and the only dangerous tackle in the game came from Rooney. Pathetic, infantile response from ManU, exactly what we've come to expect.
  12. If Tim hadn't saved that free kick in injury time we'd be ripping into Vic this morning. Bloody stupid thing to do .
  13. Has there ever been a more spineless, pathetic performance by a top flight team anywhere ever in the history of football? Given the opportunity that they had after Saturday's results I was just dumbstruck by their complete inneptitude. They made us at Fiorentina look like the 1970 Brazilians in comparison. Funny though . Southgate surely has to go.
  14. Knew I could rely on you JD. This... ....is conclusive proof that (as far as the other fifteen teams are concerned) Everton are every bit as big a challenge as the "big" clubs. If we can just get in amongst the others on a regular basis, and we've proved on occasion that we can do it, we can be right up there.
  15. Don't think anyone would put finishing above Liverpool ahead of winning a trophy, what they're saying is that qualifying for the Champions league would potentially be more long term beneficial to the club than winning the UEFA Cup. Valid point imo and the fact that it's Liverpool we'd have to finish above is just a happy coincidence.
  16. Could have retired to the Seychelles for the price of a £10 bet on those four at the start of the season. Damn shame my latest time-travel machine failed .
  17. Gavin & Stacy....didn't see it when it was first on but the first series was repeated one after another the other day because the second series is starting next week. Very funny imo.
  18. What I find amazing is that we're only ten points off the top of the league. Last year we finished 31points behind United. In 04/05 we finished fourth 34points behind Chelsea. Stunning progress surely? Our record against all but the "four" must be the best in the league....
  19. This had me worried for a moment (from the Beeb online commentary) . 89:37 Cross by Dean Whitehead (Sunderland), save (caught) by Tony Hibbert (Everton). . Three points in the bag. Job done, nice to see Rodwell on the pitch.
  20. Nice one....couple of inexplicable metaphors though, Yossarian constantly faked illness to avoid combat in Catch22....how can he compare Dunc to that? I was never his greatest fan but I don't think he ever pretended to be injured . Also I think he got his medical terms mixed up, when he said placebo I think he meant panacea. Doesn't make sense as it is.
  21. Not the case. Deffo one UEFA place from the league. Fifth is a guarantee.
  22. 24 Howard 02 Hibbert 16 Jagielka 04 Yobo 05 Lescott 06 Arteta 18 Neville 17 Cahill 20 Pienaar 08 Johnson 22 Yakubu Substitutes 12 Turner, 03 Baines, 10 Gravesen, 28 Anichebe, 37 Rodwell

    Ello!

Can't argue with that! Welcome .
  24. I'm glad to be free of the burden of supporting ManU and Chelsea tbh, specially with results today our place in Europe, even if it's only Intertoto, is looking pretty secure unless we completely self destruct. Bristol Rovers would be classic, my wife grew up in Bristol and always supported them and my dad adopted them when he moved to the West Country, he's not around to see it but he'd be delighted with how they're doing. Barnsley deserve to be in the final for sure but Pompey have to be favourites....as long as 'Boro don't reach the final...yawn.
