i've just heard (again) cheeky rumours that we've signed keane (roy) i work at the express and we get lots of rumours, but they're usually true - annoyingly, however, we've had this rumour 3 times in the past week

he's rubbish. seriously, he was good a couple of years back, but he is now terrible. couldn't believe it when i saw him score a hat trick at the weekend!!

mate just told be tommy g is coming back to england in jan. his company used to insure him while he was at Everton and apparently his agent has been on the blower to get a new place in the north west insured, looks likely he'll be back at either us or united....oooh...rumour mill....

with rumours that roy keane's coming to us and that paddypower have stopped taking bets on him being our next manager, could this mean Moyes will go to Rangers? bloody hope not....

what a brilliant result AND performance (haven't been able to say that in a while) just a few quick mentions for: - Martyn - oustanding as usual - called into action on one or two occasions and was always prepared and ready for anything newcastle could throw at him Yobo - oustanding all game, especially for the goal - really starting to look like an amazing defender Arteta - absolutely brilliant in my eyes. suddenly looked like he had bags of pace to go alongside his skill - man of the match contender with yobocop for me Beattie - will be criticised for "that" miss, but worked his socks off AND that goalline clearance was quality McFadden - offered us so much creativity and a bit more depth in attack than usual - pity his finishing was awful!! Cahill - finally looked somewhere back to his old self. was chasing lost causes and looked to enjoy the game all in all, for me it was the best performance we've had in ages and hopefully goes someway to proving the doubters wrong. nice one mr moyes and the lads!!

Everton may have nothing to shout about on the field of play, but today the club will have plenty to say to shareholders at their annual general meeting as they unveil the best financial results in the club's 127-year history. The turnover is £60 million, which puts the club in the Deloitte top 20 list of world clubs. The operating loss of £17 million in the 2003-04 season is now a profit of £100,000. That becomes £23.5 million when one factors in money from the sale of Wayne Rooney (£23.5 million) and Thomas Gravesen (£2.5 million) and a number of outgoings, whereas in the 2003-04 season there was a loss of £15.4 million. The club's debts have come down from £47 million to £28 million. As promised by Bill Kenwright, the chairman, the Rooney money has gone on buying players. In the last year Everton have been on their biggest spending spree, buying eight players for £23.3 million. Only Chelsea and Tottenham have spent more. A year ago the situation could not have been more different. Then Everton desperately needed money and Christopher Samuelson, representing Fortress Fund, came to address shareholders at the AGM and told them he was about to invest in the club. But it was six months before the money turned up. By then, Everton's finances had so improved that the money was felt to be unnecessary. Everton still have important decisions to make, like finding a new ground. They are looking at two or three sites, but their decision depends on what happens at Liverpool, who are scouring the world for an investor to fund their own new ground. The latest word is that Anfield may have a Middle East investor who is keen on having a casino at the new ground.

rowlo, to be honest i just think it's gonna be one of those seasons. it's interesting to note that when we finished 8th (having been in the top 4 all season), next year we finished 16th (or 17th?), then next season we finish 4th, maybe this season we're destined not to do well again!? to be honest, the reasons behind our failure to put a decent run together so far this season has been down to 3 factors in my opinion: - 1) Cahill isn't scoring. He's being played in the centre of midfield, and not being given as much scope to get in the box and finish as last season, due to us playing 2 strikers. 2) We've had injuries. Last year we didn't have any pretty much. And the new players we've brought in haven't had the chance to get fully fit, and people like VDM are being thrown in at the deep end somewhat in order to regain their match fitness 3) And perhaps most importantly........Moyes is tinkering. I think that he felt he HAD to change the formation from last year. People were going on about how we'll be found out (and that we were found out in the last third of last season) and for that reason he felt we couldn't play the same game as last year. I say, we move back to 4-5-1, play Martyn, Hibbert, Yobo, Kroldrup (!), Neville, VDM, Cahill, Arteta, Carsley, Davies, Beattie that will win us the 3 points against Newcastle on Sunday

he's definitely worth getting in a one year contract with a view to becoming a youth team coach in the future, but at 90k a week i feel we may as well bring in a few youngsters!

i agree with you hafnia on those assessments of the players. only thing i can add to everyone's comments here is that for me, Moyes has to shoulder a portion of the blame - and i VERY RARELY would blame Moyes for anything - the man's a legend. BUT....the way Van Der Meyde is being switched from left to right (ok, he's versatile, but just let him settle in one position!) and the way Davies was so restricted by sticking him, for the most part, in the middle of the park - meant we lacked creativity and were reliant on something special from Arteta (who sadly IS too lightweight).... Bent isn't good enough, sorry - he works hard, but he's not good enough, sell him in January VDM has to be played either as a left (please, and get rid of Kilbane in the process) or right winger - but Moyes has to make a decision and stop moving him about - at least until he's 100% fit Carsley must be brought back in - he might be able to shepherd the midfield play a bit better - the way we thought Neville would do - but now he's been moved to left-back, we've decided we don't need anyone in his position!! and finally - we had pretty much NO real chances, mainly because we don't base our play around our wingers. realistically if VDM's on the left, Davies is on the right - we have two cracking wingers. so USE THEM! why do we always hoof it to beattie and bent, who with all the goodwill in the world, just aren't good enough.... must do better. i fear Moyes jumping ship if we don't see better performances against the Toon and Blackburn...
