  1. no. you can't use facts to prove anything. you can misuse statistics, but in a case like this there would be no point. no-one has anything to gain. the statto index has a 92% accuracy record over the last ten seasons. that doesnt make it perfect but it does make it pretty good and worth noting.
  2. no i dont agree. we never looked like losing and they never looked like winning. apart from a couple of periods they werent much of a threat. our midfield and defence had them pretty well under control. and upfront aj ran them ragged. they werent that close to scoring. only one of sg's shots looked any good, and as for the penalty shout he would probably have missed it like he did for england against portugal, the useless tosspot!
  3. its pretty much one way traffic at the moment. apart from the late and unlamented rooney we seem to be doing well out of united. howard and phil neville have turned out to be good acquisitions. ferguson is a very smart manager and i believe that he is on good terms with moyes, who was once offered the job as his assistant. he could be a mentor for davey and thats no bad thing. he should also be greatful that he got rooney out of us. as far as i can see the relationships good for Everton.
  4. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/et/managers/rating?id=9&cc=4716 so far so good. but popularity can plummet overnite in the premier league. glenn roeder is on 48%! stuart pearce is on 52%, as is neale warnock, and arsene wenger is only on 55%. jose mourinho is only on 61% while old man ferguson is on 88% i didnt go thru them all but moysey on 89% may be on the top of the manager approval ratings!
  5. lets hope he's not too inspired! how often do returning players score against their old club?
  6. agreed. and theyve probably done the best transfer deals. sol campbell for nothing! you can't do better than that.

    A Nuns Tale.

Three Nuns were sitting on a park bench when a naked man flashed himself before them. Two of them had a stroke.... but the third couldnt reach!
  8. if we come out of the blocks against wigan like we did against liverpoo they wont know whats hit them. the way we started that match was incredible. we looked as if we'd been on the field for half an hour in the first two minutes.
  9. yes, i think we are definitely in with a chance. arsenal and newcastle arent looking too good. weve already stuffed spurs and liverpoo. i thnk that us and west ham could be this years surprises.
  10. "MY point wasn't to suggest that you WILL falter, only that 4 games in is WAY too soon to be boasting about your performance overall." not so sure about that. things are so tight in the premiership these days that you can't afford to drop too many points. you certainly can't afford to fall too far behind the leaders. they say the league can't be won in september, but it can be lost! for example arsenal are already ten points behind manu! even for a team with all their talent, thats a serious deficit. manu arent n the habit of throwing away ten point leads to anyone, anytime. this season could be a turning point. it seems to me that clubs are no longer intimidated by chelsea or manu or any of the usual suspects. we could be witnessing the start of a changing of the guard.
  11. its great news. he's had a rough start to his career. lets hope he has a bit more luck from here on.
  12. http://www.statto.com/ratings/stattoindex.php?id=1 "The Science Behind Statto Index The Index has been developted and tested over many years, using around 25 years worth of results and approximately 10 years of bookmakers odds to test the accuracy and profitability of the system. Naturally, no system is perfect but we believe we have as close as we can get. For the mathematically minded, the correlation between our forecasts and actual results is approximately 0.92, which means that approximately 92% of the final outcome is explained by the prior forecast." hard to see watford going down, they look to good to me, but it will be interesting to see how they all finish at the end of the season and compare the reality with the predictions.
  13. thats true, but its also true that some players simply didnt want to sign for Everton. even when we finished 4th they considered it a fluke. we had been relegation fodder for so long that we were not an attractive option to many players. moysey has now turned things around and we are a much more serious outfit. i think there is only one regular first team player left over from walter smiths days is naysmith. its now a david moyes Everton. and altho there is still room for improvement, its looking very good.
  14. looks like he has a nightmare game. hope things get better for him. he should be ok, its only scottish football.
  15. A good article on the BBC website by Alan Hansen. He makes a few good points! "The Premiership title cannot be won in August or September - but it can certainly be lost. We are only a handful of games into the new season but Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham need to start winning. Liverpool have got to turn it around quickly Arsenal, for example, have played three times and, despite dominating possession in all of those games, have yet to win. The Gunners face Manchester United on Sunday - lose that and they will already be 13 points behind Sir Alex Ferguson's team. Even for a club with so many quality players like Arsenal, trying to make up a 13-point deficit is a massive ask. Everton's 3-0 win over Liverpool at Goodison Park was a huge victory over their near neighbours. Every time a team steps on to the pitch at Goodison these days they know they are in for one hell of a game - a very different situation to four or five years ago. ... Portsmouth.... Their defensive unit includes David James, Glen Johnson and Sol Campbell - all three had critics last season but you cannot get away from the fact they were all in England squads. James has gone walkabout many times but is a very competent keeper, Johnson will mature into a very good player as he gains experience and Campbell has seen and done it all. The three players have cost Pompey less than £2m and I think that 90% of the Premiership would have been keen on that sort of business. " Story from BBC SPORT: http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/pr/fr/-/sport1/hi...all/5334182.stm
  16. liverpoo were a shambles. but they havent looked good all season. sheffield were unlucky to drop a point to them and west ham were also unlucky to lose to them. rafa has got problems even after spending a small fortune since his arrival. in fact, apart from his one success in europe he hasnt really acheived anything that the last guy didnt.
  17. to make matters worse the ref did him for handballs afterwards.
  18. based on their form so far, altho its early days, i dont see liverpoo winning anything this season. they are up against psv eindhoven tonite and i think they will get stuffed again! we'll see tomorrow!
  19. clinical! the last goal was like something out of the 3 stooges!
  20. all games in the premiership are very hard. but i sense that the squad are very, very hungry. they are up for anything and they are determined to prove themselves. i feel sorry for wigan theyve lost a couple of their best, and after the fantastic first season i think they are gong to come down to earth with a bang this time. i believe that come next year they could be in survival mode. but come saturday, given the mood at Everton fc, they could be sacrificial lambs.

  22. we dont allow owners to have shares in more than one club. what if the same agency were to own players in two different clubs, liverpoo and Everton for example?
  23. they're as thick as a dockers sandwich. and theyve obviously got emotional and character issues.
