  1. some deals can be done without a lot of cash. loan deals obviously, and swaps, or a combination of exchange and cash. weve probably got something in the kitty and we may have a line of credit available as well. but we certainly arent flush with cash. personally i think that if BT can't pay his way this season he maybe the biggest source of cash for another player.
  2. well it was a hard fought 1-1 draw. we did well to keep our nerve and defend the way we did. it shows a lot of character. there wont be many sides getting a point from the emirates this season.
  3. right now they are the best side in the premiership and they will be hard to beat, but i think we can do it. their controlled passing game has to be disrupted and their rythm has to be upset. ( we could do with big dunc for this one, he was good at upsetting people). if we can do that we have a chance beating them.
  4. nugent isnt good enough. faddy or vic are better. we need someone like robbie keane. a good supporting forward who can beat a player and score a few as well. now spurs are back were they belong he may be reconsidering his future. i reckon he'd be good upfront with aj.
  5. davies had a great game. had a big hand in one goal and put aj thru, only for him to hit the post! ive always said that this guys got talent and i hope he gets a regular slot so he can prove it.
  6. yep. i think vdm's history. its just a matter of finding someone to unload him on.
  7. BT AND WRIGHT (as long as were keeping TH). also stubbs, pistone and vdm. not Davies he's too good. he had a great game on saturday. involved in one goal and put AJ thru when he hit the post. it can be a limited market in january and some manager get desperate to get new players so maybe we can get a good price for some of them. stubbs and pistone maybe freebies. to bring in i'd take a look at Robbie Keane. now spurs arent doing so well he may be having second thoughts and he shouldnt cost anymore than we can get for bt.
  8. we certainly werent running rings around them! in the second half they looked much more likely to score than we did. a two goal difference flattered us in the end. we were lucky to get the penalty, felt sorry for they guy sent off. the best you can say for us is that even tho we played badly but still won in the end.
  9. i think the second half performance was more based around just letting the game run out and keeping everyone as fresh as possible for the next 2 games in 5days. risky considering that they were running rings around us. id wait till the summer for a striker, if either boro, charlton or west ham go down then yakubu darren bent or dean ashton could be up for sale??? it would be nice to qualify for europe this season. do we want to wait? altho we may have to if no quality strikers are available. even so i would be happy to see BT go in january anyway. when anichebe came on he was much more effective and so far this season BT's only scored twice from penalties. tim howard looked more likely to score against sheffu.
  10. the sheffield game was an unconvincing 2 - 0 victory. i believe that we may now have to accept that bt isnt working out as expected. in the second half sheffield gave us a hard time. and thats partly because we only have one really dangerous striker. thats aj. and thats no good. if he gets injured or goes thru a bad patch we will be in big trouble. anichebe may turn into a good striker in a season or two but he still has a way to go. faddie has good intentions but he doesnt deliver at premiership level and he may well never do so. osman and cahill are inconsistent, despite their occassional moments of glory. plus they are attacking midfielders rather than out and out strikers. i say we should make it a priority to find a replacement for bt, if poss in the january window. we should unload him. bt may fetch about 4 mill. and if he does we should add some more to it and do some business.
  11. nah!!! rooneys a good player but he hasnt quite lived up to his billing. given a worldwide choice i'd take ronaldhino. not just a good striker but a good creator, in fact everything that rooney was supposed to be.
  12. http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/ne...icle1916398.ece Paul Gregg, Everton's second largest shareholder, has sold his 23 per cent stake in the club to BCR Sports for around £7m. Everton will not reveal the names of the people behind BCR Sports but reports last night suggested Robert Earl, the casino and leisure entrepreneur, who founded the Planet Hollywood chain of restaurants, is behind the transaction. The deal has been brokered by Bill Kenwright, the club's chairman and majority shareholder and should Earl be involved he would be expected to help provide funds for the club. Kenwright and Gregg bought out former owner Peter Johnson in 2000 only for the pair to fall out once the proposed stadium move to the King's Dock collapsed. Since then Gregg has been keen to recoup the money he invested into Everton. The deal will be welcomed by Kenwright, who has found Gregg an obstacle to his plans for the club, who are looking at building a new stadium out of Liverpool in Kirkby. gregg sold about a quarter of the club for £7 mill. that values Everton at about £30 mill, give or take. robert earl, the rumoured buyer, a brit who lives in the usa he founded planet hollywood and the hardrock cafe and has an estimated worth of $200 mill. he is in the process of opening his first planet hollywood resort in america so he is keeping busy, dont know how much time, interest or money, he has for Everton. time will tell!
  13. weve dropped points to some fairly ordinary teams, its time to get stuck in and take it out on sheffield u. they havent even scored away this season so it should be one of the easier matches. 3 - 1. AJ, TWO AND CAHILL ONE!
  14. duncs flawed personality ensured that he never reached the heights that he was capable of. he still did a great job for Everton tho. especially when we finished 4th. he'd come on as a sub and get the winner or the equaliser. he should do well in oz.
  15. hibbo is one of the most consistent defenders in the premiership. very little gets past him. he's got the skill and the guts to take on anyone. he's done a great job in the Everton defence and he will be very hard to replace. neville is a good utility player but he's best in midfield. but he can cover until hibbo is back. last year it was our attack that was in need of shoring up. since the arrival of aj its now the defence thats looking a bit weak.
  16. he's a talented player but considering his youth and his long term injury he should be treated with kid gloves until the end of the season. a few outing with the reserves is the most that he should be used for until his knee is fully recovered from his ops. too much too soon would be a big mistake for the club and the lad.

    Samba Soccer!

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5...18523&hl=en wish we had the the climate. wish we had the women!
  18. weve given away points today and against wigan and bb rovers. weve dropped six points unneccessarily so far this season. if we have pretensions to be a top 6 or top 4 club we have to stop the rot somewhere straight away. as you say we are still unbeaten, but if you were to go thru a whole season unbeaten with say 38 draws you'd only have 38 points and you'd be for the drop. being unbeaten isnt the same as winning. we can't keep dropping points like this, especially at home to the likes of manc!
  19. its not a good omen to be giving away points to the likes of manc at Goodison.
  20. we should be getting 3 points against the manc's of the premiership. it should just be a question of by how many. weve dropped points against wigan, b-burn and barcodes! ok the barcodes are better than the other two and we where away. but wigan and b-burn? they should have been ours! if we'd got those 4 points we'd have been top of the table now! against manc i'm looking for a convincing win. 3-0. bt, arteta, & aj. it'll be a late night here they dont show the match til, 12.30am!
  21. we should be playing 4-4-2 at home against weaker sides like manc. weve gotta let the aj-bt partnership develop. i'm sure they can be a fantastic strike force. and the idea of a second striker was to improve our strike rate. if we dont play both we may not get the most out of them. against stronger teams and for away matches we can play 4-5-1. aj is quite formidable upfront on his own because he's got the pace and the physical strength to beat just about any defender out there. weve manc today and thats should be 3 points. you can't afford to drop too many points against the manc teams. weve already done it twice against wigan and blackburn.
  22. valente hasnt had much time on the pitch since the world cup but he must be a better bet pistone or naysmith.
  23. an exciting game to watch, both sides playing well, but both also making dumb mistakes like giving the ball away unneccessarily. pity cahills pass to aj was too pacey he would have got one there. he didnt seem to get much service in this match and i think bt should have come on earlier too. when he did come on, even tho it was only for a minute he looked good. its time to get aj and bt working together. im sure they can develop a great partnership.
  24. yep, he's the best weve got. hope the loan is made permanent.
  25. "Mikel Arteta might have missed his calling. The Basque was giggling through the initiation of Everton's new players in a Dallas karaoke bar earlier this summer when he found himself thrust up on stage by his team-mates as the familiar rhythmic strum of the Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be throbbed over the speaker system. "Davie Weir had taught me that song, and I gave it a go and did a little dance," he recalled with a vague shudder of embarrassment. "They took the piss, but I think they enjoyed it." It is hard to imagine otherwise: Arteta, after all, has star quality." http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,1879182,00.html
