  1. "Charlie Williams: Pioneering stand-up comedian Charlie Williams has died aged 78 following a long-term illness. Born in Yorkshire of Jamaican descent, Mr Williams was a professional footballer for Doncaster Rovers before moving into show business. The first black comedian to make the big time on British TV, he was best known for appearing on Granada's The Comedians and later went on to host the Golden Shot game show." he used to say of his footballing exploits for doncaster rovers, 'i werent very good, but i was good enough to stop them that were'!
  2. shows how desperate shrewsbury are for fans -- they have to pay for them! isnt it supposed to be the othe way around?
  3. at club level i would agree. not at international level. international soccer is about something more significant than just club sides. these matches disrupt the entire premier league and probably much of the championship throughout europe, to play sides like the faroe islands and andorra. andorra!!! tranmere rovers are a better side!
  4. wigan made us an offer we couldnt refuse! 2 mill rising to 2.25!!! We couldn't reject Kilbane cash - MoyesSep 1 2006 By Dominic King, Liverpool Echo The Blues received a fee of £2m, which could eventually rise to £2.25m depending on appearances, for a player they signed from Sunderland for £750,000 three years ago and only had 12 months remaining on his contract. "We received a fair offer for Kevin and he thought at this present time it would be right for him," said Moyes.
  5. this gives you an idea of just how far ahead in the money game chelski is. if they had to pay for freebies like ballack they would be closer to 100 mill.

  7. Andorras best player plays for a second division spanish club and even he didnt bother turning up! the minnows should have a play off and the winner goes into the big comp. save wasting everyones time. 5-0. this game was no different than a training session. over 56,000 mugs paid to watch this training session. the population of andorra isnt much more -- 71,201 (July 2006 est.) . you could fit the lot into old trafford. international matches are supposed to be about something. this was a match about nothing. a complete waste of everyones time.
  8. yes, and the fa have decided, after consideration, that Bates' accusations are worth investigation. as bates said fining chelski is a waste of time, theyve got so much money, but if they have points deducted that would hurt them.

    Everton V Rs

this is gonna be a tough one. home or away doesnt make much difference in this case. i fancy us to take 3 points but we will have make sure the midfield dont go awol as they did in the watford game. moysey may go back to 4-5-1 for this game.

Fabio Aurelio (free) Craig Bellamy (£6million) Mark Gonzalez (£4million) Dirk Kuyt (£10million) Gabriel Paletta (£2million) Jermaine Pennant (£6.7million) what do you think of it all?
  11. would you pay good money to watch an international side that probably wouldnt make it in the 3rd division?
  12. Wigan sign Kilbane from Everton http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...tic/5303638.stm Kilbane played for Preston and Sunderland Wigan have signed Everton's Republic of Ireland winger Kevin Kilbane on a three-year deal with an option for a further year. BBC Sport understands the fee for the 29-year-old is in the region of £2m. "I am delighted Kevin has agreed to come on board. He's another real quality acquisition for us," Jewell told the club website. "He brings something we haven't got at the club, a naturally attacking left-footed player." Kilbane added: "Paul Jewell is my type of manager because he likes to be close to players and I just want to join up with the rest of the squad and playing my part." "I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone at Everton. I've had great support from everyone there and there's always a bit of you that's sad to say goodbye when you leave such a great club."
  13. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...sea/5302732.stm the reason that the fa is concerned of course is that if a positive test is returned clubs may conceal results!
  14. well gravs gone to bonny scotland. its D-Day today. midnight is the deadline for transfers. it doesnt look like weve made any serious offers for anyone and it doesnt look like fulham will get killa.
  15. i reckon he'd downed a few changs before the program started!
  16. a decent match report in sporting life! "JOL'S SPURS BEATEN BY A PERFECT TEN By Adrian Curtis, Sporting life Tottenham boss Martin Jol once again emphasised how difficult it is to play against 10 men following his side's 2-0 home defeat by Everton on Saturday. Spurs went down to a determined Toffees outfit reduced to 10 men after half an hour. Tottenham's England right-winger Aaron Lennon was kept in check by Gary Naysmith all afternoon and, as Jol pointed out, they had no outlet on the left flank to stretch the visitors."
  17. yeah this is GREAT news. our strike force was our weakness now its our strenght! well done moysey!
  18. Gareth Southgate has also lodged a bid to sign Preston's highly-rated young striker David Nugent. (The Sun)
  19. Everton weigh up Fulham's £750,000 winger bid 10:12 8/30/2006 The Craven Cottage side are keen to take Kevin Kilbane to West London http://www.fansfc.com/evertonfootballclub/...p?newsid=156877 "Fulham manager Chris Coleman has made a £750,000 offer for the 29-year-old Republic of Ireland international ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline. Former Sunderland man Kilbane however remains a key part of David Moyes' squad and his departure at this late stage in the transfer window would leave the Everton boss short of options on the left-hand side."
  20. Everton's year-long pursuit of Brazilian midfielder Anderson Da Silva looks like ending in frustration. (Daily Mail)
  21. graveson and celtic have hit a problem with the medical. graveson is keen to sign up somewhere before the window closes, but at his age and with a knee problem he may not get the chance.
  22. he sounds like a bargain. the scouting team should be on the lookout for just this kind of guy.
  23. not a done deal yet! No deal as Gravesen exits Glasgow "Thomas Gravesen arrives at a Glasgow hospital on Monday Real Madrid midfielder Thomas Gravesen has left Glasgow without a contract being agreed with Celtic amid doubts over the results of his medical. The Scottish champions appear to have some concerns about the fitness of the 30-year-old, who suffered a knee injury in the 2004/05 season. But his agent, John Sivebaek, said he hoped a deal could still be done. It had been thought that personal terms and a £2m transfer fee had been agreed, but Celtic now say "talks are ongoing". " BUT NOW THE LATEST IS:-) "Thomas Gravesen will complete his move to Celtic from Real Madrid today despite a problem with his medical. (Daily Record, The Sun) Thomas Gravesen will tell Celtic whether he will accept a lesser deal after problems with his medical. (Daily Express, Daily Mail) "
  24. This is a crucial season in evertonian history. the players and fans, I’m sure, sense this. After years of being relegation fodder we are now a solid, premiership side, and we owe that to David Moyes. He has done a good job for us on a limited budget. The new signings are particularly exciting. AJ and BT upfront could become a legendary strike force, and we have anichebe and McFadden waiting in the wings. The defence is now looking much more solid. Lescott, Valente, Hibbert and Yobo are all talented players, and the new goalie looks good so we should be able to get rid of that embarrassing, negative goal difference, of recent seasons. The board now seem to have found a real sense of direction and purpose after years of floundering, and this has fired the fans and the team with an optimism that we haven t had for a long time. Everton are back.
  25. looks like your right! the celtic deal is incredible. CELTS READY TO SEAL £9M GRAV DEAL RECORD SPORT EXCLUSIVE "Celts offer £45K a week for three years and £2m to clinch Gravesen deal By Keith Jackson CELTIC were last night closing in on a sensational swoop for Thomas Gravesen - in a staggering deal worth £9million. The Real Madrid midfielder was in Glasgow yesterday to put the finishing touches to a move which should complete Gordon Strachan's five-star finale to the transfer window. Newcastle may yet attempt to trump Celtic's offer at the 11th hour but sources close to the player are adamant Gravesen has decided to move to Scotland. Celtic will pay the Spanish giants £2million for a player who will also pocket a whopping £45,000 a week in wages over the three years of his Parkhead contract. That means the 30-year-old will collect more than £7m after agreeing to become the highest paid player in the history of the Scottish game. The hugely ambitious swoop - first revealed by Record Sport at the end of May - comes hot on the heels of Celtic securing the services of Dutch international Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink"
