Surely with a big name manager such as Rafa, all the world class players are lining up to sign with Everton.  Oh wait….I’m still shocked he was seen as a “big name”.  The transfer rumors speak for themselves.  The names we had with Carlo have all dried up and we are getting a former Newcastle player linked now.  Sadly I fear this will be another allardyce that takes years to clean up (hell we still have tosun!!).  Honestly not even sure if I’ll be along for moshiri coaching carousel at that point, I’m becoming despondent with this team

Fat lot of good it did us getting linked with a lot of supposed big names over the last 2 seasons. I think we can all lament on prior managers shite signings (Koeman - Bolaise?Sandro?, Martinez - Alcaraz? Kone?) but they've likely also had gems but as with life the bad overshadows the good.

Benitez apparently wanted to sell Alonso because he wanted to be with his wife for the birth of their child...... Which is pretty consistent with how many view his man management.  Pretty appalling btw but non the less it's a far cry from the indulging managers we've had.

Barry was a very similar player to Alonso - not as good. So it was smart recruitment albeit it in an unsavoury manner.

He was in charge of player recruitment at Napoli.... In fact at all his clubs he likes tight control of this.  He also bought Allan, Higuain and some other great signings.

I honestly think his abrasive but hard working style is needed here.  I really want him to work out because he is exactly what this club needs.  I sensed his aggitation at the circus when being rolled out as Everton manager....  I honestly think he is on the autistic spectrum, not severely but he has traits which point to his cold personality and obsessive nature.

Players always try and work a new manager out.... There really is no point with this fella, he only cares about what happens on the pitch. I'm looking forward to it. Easy Touch FC no more.

Interesting to see how this jives with Brands. Not disagreeing with your observation at all, just will be interesting to see how this evolves.

Best moment was when he gave that ball away, as soon as the ball was out of play he held his hands up and apologised. He likes gutted he had made a mistake.

Agreed. That said, was that not the first of two instances....so while he apologized he went on to make a similar mistake (Distribution related). I could be wrong and the one he apologized for was the 2nd instance.

We’re mugs so I fully expect us to agree to this and then go out and sign a slow striker to replace him.

Get rid I say. He has not actually proven very much apart from that he can thrive in a sub standard league. Even his international performances are nothing really to write home about.

  5. Not thrilled about the appointmen but I honestly think he will do well....though we have a low bar to clear thanks to last year. I don't think it is going to be anywhere near the shit show that was Allardyce (playing style or personality style)

Frankly most of us have had blue tinted glasses on at one time or another in the past 5 years relative to our managerial appointments. We were convinced one or more of those appointments were exactly what we needed at that time (and who can blame us). So for me a muted response this time is a refreshing change. Let's have the results do the talking (one way or the other)

I don't read too much into the interview. The club will have thought about "landmine questions" and said we have to be seen to ask you about these 5-6 things and answers will have been thought about in advance.

Like I've said in a prior post I am interested in our squad activity this year. It's not about splashing the cash as that hasn't worked in the past but I could see Moshri feeling the need to go big and make some investments - not a one player splash but really backing (his) manager (and screw FPP - slap on the wrist for first time offender)

  6. Was watching some of his highlights from last season...:the amount of time he shifted it to his left foot and sprayed the ball out to the left wing is unbelievable. Was incredibly accurate.

In one clip there were 2 Everton players on the left (he was right wing half way line) the easy ball was to the player (Digne I think) just past the half way line but he played the more difficult ball to a more advanced player...that's the difference between slow build up and an incisive one.
