It is pointless to continue to ask people to do something they are unable to do. Most of our players can't do what Martinez expects or wants them to do. As it stands we will be 4 points, possibly 3, off 18th place in an hour or so. If we weren't in Europe Martinez would be sacked. Just because we're in Europe is no reason to keep him.

Anyone without a match ticket was not allowed in the main square. How they sorted that out I do not know. Anyway, there were Merseyside police assisting the French. The Merseyside police identified a known hooligan and a drug dealer to the French as they were approaching the main square from a side street. The drug dealer was chased by plain clothes French police into the square, they caught and arrested him, some Everon started throwing bottles and so small uniformed squads were sent in to disperse fans from the centre of the square. They overreacted and misjudged the tear gas use but to them it may well have seemed there were scores or hundreds throwing bottles and they were few, sent in in small squads. The bleating about tear gas being used when children and families were around is typical as it's clearly OK for bottles to be thrown by our own without a single bleat about that scarring children or families for life nor infringing my human Ingurlish rights. It was hardly World War 3 but let's face it the French wouldn't have been there if it was! Ban Lille? It's always some other fucker's fault, to some.

Everton fans set off a blue smoke bomb in the main square. Riot and plain clothes police went apeshit and cleared square with tear gas, bullets and batons before retreating after being pelted with bottles. So, the only thing which will be remembered is Everton letting off a smoke bomb and throwing bottles. It's also rumoured to take up to an hour to get in the ground after arriving there because of searches, security checks, drunk checks, ticket checks and putting any bag you are carrying in a cloakroom type place. All that needs to happen now is thousands miss kick off or most of the match and there will be something to worry about!

I would have done better on my own than the shower of shite we had out on Saturday because we played on Sunday. As for this cup, just use it to give an outing to some untried players and tactics and see how far we do or don't go.
