  1. £27m initially rising to £31m on performance. Crazy, as you say. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28048866
  2. Hasn't he heard Suarez doesn't understand the difference between human flesh and pasta.....
  3. £25m according to the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28061711
  4. The way he was holding his teeth was scary, to me. It was child-like and almost as though he was blaming his teeth for having a mind of their own and he was making sure they were alright, as if they were some sort of alter ego and not actually a part of him. Then he goes and says Chiellini ran into his chest, exonerating his teeth of any blame.
  5. Last 16 - my preferred teams to go through in bold: Brazil v Chile - to see Neymar again Colombia v Uruguay - to see James Rodriguez again Netherlands v Mexico - not to see Arjen Robben again Costa Rica v Greece - they will make more of a game of it than Greece France v Nigeria - not to see France again Germany v Algeria - so there is at least 1 European team through with a chance of winning the whole thing (but maybe no realistic hope of doing so?) Argentina v Switzerland - Argentina are more entertaining than Switzerland Belgium v USA - I Believe.......

  7. 10/10 to Gordon Strachan tonight for shutting up the likes of Sausage Roll Face Chiles who was trying to get all moralistic about Suarez - Strachan reminded him there are no morals in football as there have been wife-beaters, infidelity, Cantona kung-fu kicking a supporter in the chest, and so on and when they come back after their bans or after being exposed the supporters love them so don't talk about morals because there aren't any - it's about money. If a youth player did what Suarez, Cantona, Cisse (Djibril), etc did they would be gone without trace. Maybe the best thing that can happen is for someone to smack Suarez and knock his bastard teeth out?
  8. I agree the US will have difficulty in scoring against Belgium, as they do against most teams, but Vertonghen seemed to play quite well tonight so he's due another nightmare. As for Belgium's attack - I doubt the US will be shitting a brick about that - 2 goals from substitutes to beat Algeria, an 88th minute goal to beat Russia and a potentially offside goal from a central defender to beat South Korea. A total of 4 goals scored against what you class as inferior opposition, so Spain you ain't (South Africa). It's based on performances, not results, so you can unmystify yourself now. USA have every chance of beating Belgium.
  9. I think the US will have it easier against Belgium than Algeria. Algeria are as hardworking as the US if not more so and they have a bit more pace than the US. If the US can 'get at' Belgium, they will beat them!
  10. Vertonghen for Belgium, 1-0, never met him and don't want to but I can't stand him
  11. Really pleased USA are through. They could have nicked a draw at the end, but for Lahm. If scoring goals wasn't perhaps the only proviso for tipping the votes for best player in the world then Lahm would be in with a shout. He is a world class player.
  12. Nice photo Mike - some serious boots on the girl on the end, the one stood in front of the teacher! I too was Bally, or Pele or Kendall or Husband or Eusebio or Lorimer or West or Bonetti depending who, what, where and when we were playing.
  13. White socks! Where are the white socks!? :major overreaction alert:
  14. I think it will but all games will be played on Mars as the Martians will rule the Universe, by then, and they will have the monopoly on players and will twat everyone. There will also be an Inter-Galactic Cup, played on Mercury, where the main objective will be not to set your arse on fire, for which the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 is a trial run. You heard it here first.

Adam Ant? Unplug the jukebox, Mike, and do us all a favour.......
  16. Uruguay coach starts to defend Suarez & blames media http://www.sportsgrid.com/soccer/uruguayan-coach-oscar-tabarez-gets-asked-about-suarez-bite-shoots-back-at-british-media-for-witch-hunting/ Also, Gary Lineker just quoted this fro Suarez to Uruguay media at end of BBC programme; "These things happen in the box, There was a coming together of my chest and his shoulder and I got a knock in the eye" Unfuckingbelieveable! Can you remind me again why football is such a joke and why I keep spending my money on people who constantly take the piss out of me?
  17. His inexperience at the highest level is apparent at this World Cup but he is playing in a team of individuals who all seem intent on trying to outdo each other instead of striving for the common good so maybe that's why he looks a bit lost. The Belgian squad are trying to give the impression they all grew up together, making chocolate and writing boring European legislation but they're no more than a bunch of very samey players who are now scattered around various leagues and they meet up a couple of times a year to see who's earning what. If he does command a stupid price I hope we don't pay it or that he chooses somebody else because he isn't worth it........ yet. He might be, one day, but not yet.
  18. Shearer should also be banned from all media after his "three bites and you're out" bit of, eh, eh, nudge, nudge, wink, wink with the BBC lads on the sofa just now. That Geordie Foghorn Leghorn Gobshite is one of the reasons our football is stuck in the dark ages with unrealistic and unachievable expectations placed on the gobshites who think he has anything worth saying. Edit: I'm furious over Shearer not Suarez - Suarez has done it 3 times and is clearly mentally ill but I don't know how many times that morose, jumpers for goalposts twat has been excused for making light of something which is as bad as racism or sexism. Ron Atkinson was banned for making what he thought was a 'lads' comment about the colour of someone's skin - what Shearer has done is as bad, if not worse, as it condones violent assault.
  19. Even the kids who walk out with the players were belting out the Brazilian anthem - even if they were ordered to, they still did it. Pride and passion. Haven't got a clue what they're singing about but maybe if we changed our anthem to something about takeaway pizza, Farm Foods, pea foam, caramelised figs or the school run it might generate a bit of passion and interest. I can only see Social Services being involved if our kiddies are ordered to sing about God and some smelly pensioner.
  20. England 0 Costa Rica 8 At least the weather here is set to stay nice, though I've heard there's a shower of shit on the way later in the week from Brazil
  21. Nigeria vs Bosnia last night. Both teams needed to win, both teams weren't scared to try and win. Very enjoyable watch.
  22. Good spot. Season 2002/3 was the last time we played them away first - December 2002, 0-0. The return at Goodison was April 2003, 1-2, Rhino got our goal from a penalty.
  23. Villa look doomed, thank God, especially as they're up for sale as well. They wouldn't be buying crap like Senderos and Cole if anyone was on the horizon to put serious investment into them. It's looking good for them to disappear into oblivion. I don't like them. Never have, since I was a kid. They deserve everything which is hopefully coming to them.
  24. Some media are saying £12m for him but I wouldn't have him back for half that. He's a great player when he wants to be but it's only when he wants to be and that isn't anywhere near often enough.
