  1. As a fellow Yank myself, I can attest to all of these reasons for being an Everton supporter. I get a guilty pleasure in going to bars on game days and ridiculing "bandwagon" Man Utd, Chelsea, City, Barca and Real Madrid fans. I often quiz them on the Starting 11, managers, and league position...not surprised these "diehard" fans don't know the answers to these simple questions. Once a blue, always a blue
  2. Italian passport for Rodriguez. Mori is the one who we may have some trouble securing a work permit for. Honestly, there is no point in arguing about whether or not this kid is going to make an impact with us. Only time will tell. Give the lad a chance for fucks sake. I've only been an Everton supporter for a decade, and I'm already well aware of how disappointing transfer windows tend to be. Going off his most recent season of 9 in 23 (as he was a full-time starter), that's 2.55 goals per game. Granted he's playing in a shite league against shite opposition. He also has fuck all for talent around him...as you can see with how this kid scores. Always seems to be in the right place at the right time to put away a deflected ball or mishandled cross (much like Lewandoski or Harry Kane). This is something Big Rom and Arouna Kone are not very adept at. Recent past strikers (+ Cahill and Felli): Yakubu 31 in 107 = 3.45 goals/game Anichebe 26 in 168 = 6.46 goals/game McFadden 19 in 139 = 7.32 goals/game Rooney 15 in 67 = 4.47 goals/game Cahill 65 in 242 = 3.72 goals/game Fellaini 33 in 177 = 5.36 goals/game Radzinski 28 in 102 = 3.64 goals/game Campbell 51 in 163 = 3.20 goals/game Ferguson 72 in 272 = 3.78 goals/game looking at those numbers, if this kid manages to put up 1 in 4 off the bench or as back-up, that will be better than the average of the players listed above (~4.6 games/goal) Could be the next Straq...could be the next Suarez. Who knows? Trust in the scouting team and the gaffer. Not like we could afford most other strikers we've been linked with in the past.
  3. Anyone know if the Final will be shown in the States? I highly doubt it, but one can hope
  4. This is a brilliant signing!! Not often you can get a Barca acacdemy prospect who's shown flashes at that cost. Glad to see he's back and welcome home mate!! Though he didn't play in many games last year, Gerry had 5 assists for Sevilla, which was just one short of their leader (Carlos Bacca with 6). Massively excited to see Deulo tear down the right flank and streak past miserably slow defenders like Mertesacker and Terry. Bit sad seeing as we probably won't bring Lennon back in, but who knows? Maybe RM using Gerry signing to get Lennon for less than ridiculous 7mill Spurs want
  5. I hope Garbutt is able to go to a team like Bournemouth who can play from the back and use their wingbacks pace and skill to deliver in crosses. That is one area of LG's game that i comparable to Bainsey...ability to whip a ball in to the box with pace. Now if only we had a striker with some presence in the box :/
  6. First 10 games are rather harsh...but the last ten look much nicer: Home - West Ham Away - Sunderland Home - Arsenal Away - Man United Away - Watford Home - Southampton Away - Crystal Palace Home - Bournemnouth Away - Leicester City Home - Norwich
  7. Great read that article...though a bit sad for sure. Shame about George though. Best of luck to ya lad
  8. Not a chance in high hell of us landing a young player of this potential...is what I would have said before we snapped up Big Rom. That being said, we don't have the cash necessary to make a deal like this happen, and player would probably choose a CL or Europa League team over us anyways.
  9. Shame about McGeady...loads of pace and he's got the skills to beat a player, yet he doesn't do it often. Should take a page from Gerry's book...about the only thing he could do well was take a player on in a 1v1 and absolutely smoke him to the end line
  10. I disagree with you completely there...sorry mate. Gareth Barry, albeit a consummate professional and tactical veteran, is certainly not our answer in the midfield. I'm not sure he could keep pace with a tractor in reverse. Too slow, no lateral speed, and commits some silly fouls as a result. He appeared in 44 games last year and received 13 yellow cards and one red (which was a double yellow I believe against Chelsea). Not that this correlates at all, but in the games Barry was booked, we had 3 wins, 5 draws and 5 losses. Sounds like our season summed up.
  11. Yes, I am well aware of just how shite we were this season, however my stats include ALL games he appeared in, not just Prem games
  12. No, they would have to play in other stadiums too. It's the World Cup, let's be real. How do you host a World Cup in England and not have a game at Old Trafford? Likely to be a game at Anfield, and the Etihad too
  13. Very much so. Except for Evans...no real value for me there.
  14. McCarthy is one of our most important players (if not the most important). According to my math...he appeared in 37 games for us this season (111 total points possible. 57 points recorded). He was absent for 14 games due to injury (42 total points possible. 12 points recorded). Obviously, there are many other factors that influence our results, but clearly we are a better team with McCarthy on the pitch (dropped 48.6% of possible points with him on the pitch vs. 71.4% points dropped of possible points with him off the pitch). He deserves whatever he's asking for...clearly a natural born leader who will one day captain the side should he stay here long enough. Excited to see him and TC partnered together in the midfield. Dear God, just anyone but f'ing Gareth Barry
  15. Would love to take this Gerry back...preferably a permanent transfer as opposed to a loan, but the kid has star potential. If he can just get over himself, hush up and play some defense, he's got a shot at being a world beater. There are not many defenders who can put in an honest's challenge in a one-on-one situation with him and win the ball off his feet. Not to mention the kid has lightning quick pace. Would take him for no more than 10 mill. Even that might be a stretch, but if we end up selling Mirallas, we could use some of that money to fund a Deulofeu transfer. Also, not that this means much, but I have FIFA 15 career mode with Barcelona (playing on legendary difficulty), and after 3 years Gerry is now an 86 (started out playing maybe half the games per year, now a full time starter)
  16. So true though. I don't think we need any more aging, slow midfielders. I like the Cleverley signing because he brings experience, youth and on a free. Meireles is washed up...not half bad while playing across the park, but shite since.
  17. Evans is a scrub...would take him on a free. Maybe pay 2-3 mill for him...but he's inconsistent and certainly not better than Stones or Jags. I'd rather see Tyias Browning get some games at center-half over Jonny Evans the spitter
  18. Not sure what Villa side you are watching mate...Cleverley has more appearances for Aston Villa this season (32) than anyone else (except Guzan). More like hes keeping other players out the side...no? On that note, for a "free" I think he is worth getting. Not a flashy or "sexy" transfer target, but we could use some help in the midfield, and Barry/Osman keep getting older and slower and Gibson is more fragile than a glass vase.
  19. I'm on the fence here...Martinezz had a rough second season in charge. I don;t like managers who blatantly refuse to change tactics/strategy when it's not working. Europa League definitely affected the team's ability to win Premier League games this season. No doubt about it. Hopefully, we at least made some money off being in Europe this season, so we can turn around and spend it on some quality players to move us back into Top 6 next season.
  20. Agreed. Would be happy to part with him for at least 8m. We got him on a free 3 years ago, so any money made during sale would be profit. He's not the sexiest name on the team sheet, but he plays proper Scottish football, which we need around these parts. Imagine where we would be without his 11 goals so far this season...
  21. Not the biggest fan of Baines at CM. Gibbo has looked good since coming back from injury, and he is a creative passer, just like Baines. Garbutt is good, wouldn't mind him starting at LB, but not if Baines is still around. Oviedo can play too if hes not on the medical table
  22. Anyone know where I can watch this match streaming on the web? In the USA, and they have the Fiorentina-Roma game televised here instead. Much appreciated
  23. He's going to provide the match winning assist in the debt this weekend...you heard it here first. Teams keep trying to defend against our passing attack by pressing us high. We've seen what Mirallas and Barkley can do with their pace when they run at a defense. Now imagine Lennon streaking behind the defense with that lightning pace of his. On that, I won't be sold until we actually see him play in Everton blue. Didn't look too happy to me in the pictures posted on the site...
  24. Not a chance. Schurrle is worth to much. Teams are lining up 20 mill+ bids for him. He is a proven talent who just won a World Cup (and played 244 minutes too, so no bench warmer). Atsu is younger and thus far has only proven his talent at the international level for Ghana. I've always liked Lennon for his incredible pace, but i don't think he would necessarily fit in. As many people have said, he can't put a ball in the box for his life...not that Rom is adept at going up and getting them anyways. His pace down the flank would be well served however. He would just need to play the ball back for Coleman to ping one in the box. I feel as if he could learn how to cross the ball while running with alot of extra practice time on the pitch. You can't teach pace. But certainly not worth 7 mill
  25. It was a poorly taken penalty. You could see when he stepped up and took the ball of Baines that he wasn't looking confident. Baines should've stepped up and said "Back the F*** off mate...I'm 94% from the spot in the Premier League". Sure Mirallas has knocked in a few great free kicks in his time with us, but realistically you gotta let Leighton drill that one home. Especially with our season hanging so precariously in the balance. He was being a cocky son of a gun who wanted to rise his goals tally so he can defend a move to a big club in the summer. Good riddance in my opinion if that was his intention. Clearly not a team player. Also, he is as fragile as a newborn baby! Hamstring started giving him fits because of the change of temperature in the locker room at halftime. Would've been better off leaving him sitting on the penalty spot for the entire half...to think about his poor decision
