  1. Being from the United States, "nigger" is an extremely hateful term when used by non-blacks, however many blacks use the word as a term of endearment with their family, friends...etc. I'm curious, is the word used often in the UK, as it is in the USA? I was always led to believe that the word spawned from American slavery centuries ago.
  2. As an American, I found this topic to be rather humorous. First, most of you shite on Brooks, saying that he wouldn't be worth bringing in to the team, then he scores the winner against Ghana, and you are all singing his praises. Just because he's American, doesn't mean he can't perform at the top level. I mean, come on, he helped the USA do what England couldn't (too soon?). Though the opposition was weaker, so too is the US side. You can't teach physical prowess, and this Brooks lad has it at a strong and powerful 6'4". Wouldn't mind seeing him as a direct replacement for distin in a couple years time. That being said, Jagielka looks much better playing in an Everton shirt than and England one. Shame though, would've liked to see the Three Lions progress out of the group...guess all my hopes lie with the US
  3. I'm shocked that some of you would even consider taking Felli back. He had some dominating games for us without a doubt, but overall he was terribly inconsistent and a hothead. In 196 appreances for Everton, he managed to pick up 55 yellow cards and 3 red cards. That means he picked up a booking in about one out of every three matches. We don't want or need a player like that. Not to mention, he had more bookings than goals in every season he played for us (2008-13). I think McCarthy has been our player of the season thus far, really anchoring the midfield by providing quality defensive support a well as timely passes to our attackers. I'd take Barry/McCarthy anyday. Felli was overrated in my opinion, though he did have some outstanding performances for us...even if they were few and far between. RM did well to get 27 mill pounds for him...laughing all the way to the bank on that one.
  4. Fellow Blues, I live in the US and the FA Cup match tomorrow (today for most of you) is not being televised. Any suggestions where I can watch the match? Good free streaming sites? Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated
  5. Everton 2, Tottenham 1. Coleman makes a return to the starting XI with a goal and surprise assist to Naismith. Soldado for Spurs
  6. Took a trip to Cali to watch Everton beat Juve...absolutely delightful. Loved how Stones Pirlo'd the master himself
  7. Softer than a teddy bear...would be surprised if RM brought him in.
  8. He certainly looks to be a good defender when he can stay healthy, but we are striving for champions league football. We don't need good 31 year old centerbacks, we need great ones. And to be honest, he was absolute shite against the Reds...got beat for pace badly on the Suarez goal. Good squad rotation player, but if Duffy doesn't pan out, RM has got to sign a first team quality, superb centerback. Distin and Jags are fantastic, but both are 36 and 31, respectively. I imagine Stones is our CB of the future, but we need another without a doubt.
  9. If you are concerned with the "good of football", certainly having a Wigan side (currently sitting 10th in the Championship) playing in Europe does not make it any better. Wigan and other championship teams do not need to play any more games than they already do each season. Their season is a long and arduous one as it is. As great as it is to see a lower club in Europe, it does not provide a benefit to football as a whole. Especially if we are rooting for an England side to win the Europa League. Would much rather see an Everton, Liverpool, Southampton...etc in Europe (no bias I swear).
  10. 1. Arsenal 2. Tottenham 3. Man City 4. Chelsea 5. Man Utd 16. Stoke 17. Crystal Palace 18. Sunderland 19. Crystal Palace 20. Hull City
  11. Where in those states have you lived? I have lived in New York, Florida and Virginia, and I know homes that have been robbed in all three states. Do you never watch the news? Armed home break-ins are rather common. In fact, this was just national news last week about an armed robbery in Georgia. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/09/18/20541884-authorities-search-for-14-year-old-georgia-girl-abducted-by-armed-robbers?lite Lucky for you never never having even heard of a robbery in the States. That seriously blows my mind. Without guns, there would still be robberies, so the point is moot
  12. For real? Burglaries are rare in the US? According to the FBI Crime Statistics from 2009, there were just under 2.2 MILLION burglaries in the US. http://www2.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2009/offenses/property_crime/burglary.html I live in the USA, and the gun laws (or lack thereof) are absurd. I understand where you are coming from with hunting as a pastime, but surely one does not need a military-grade assault to kill a fucking deer. Rifles work just fine. Also, with 40% of the total population living on the coasts, they are hardly likely to encounter bears, coyotes and rattlesnakes. And even if they did, again military assault rifles are not needed (perhaps for the bear...but a well placed rifle shot would do the trick). I am not against the public owning guns, but I am certainly against them having access to military grade weapons. There is absolutely no need for it, and here we refer to it as "overcompensating". It's like how some Americans have huge, lifted pickup trucks. "Overcompensating for something else of theirs that is small" ie. genitals, IQ, common sense...etc.
  13. Are you referring to McCarthy as a star signing? Is that because of his transfer price? I think he did a fantastic job tactically in naming the team. Jela put in a hard 65 minutes against Chelsea, providing the assist to Naisy...fully deserved to get the start against West Ham. And you know what, he was irrelevant so Martinez did what Moyes never would do...take an ineffective player off at the half. And so on comes Lukaku, who completely changed the game for us. I'm sure we will be seeing much of him in the starting 11 this season. It is bittersweet though, as he will be going back to Chelsea at the end of the term. With Naisy being the difference against Chelsea, he deserved to start as well. And when he didn't show up, he was swapped out. Well played by Martinez, and special thanks to Leighton Baines and his free kick class. Hope Roy Hodgson was taking note. England doesn't have another left-footed player with the set-piece capability Baines has. Gives an alternative to Rooneys right footed free kicks.
  14. Even Michael Parkhurst (who plays for FC Augsburg), has been better at RB...though he is technically used as a center back for Augsburg.
  15. I watched that dreadful match for the U.S. Though Oviedo looked bright down the left flank, I feel that it was a bit of an illusion. For whatever reason, Jurgen Klinsmann had Michael Orozco, a center back playing right back. He is neither fast, nor agile, so it should be no surprise that Oviedo ran past him again and again. That being said, the lad still has to make that final pass...which he did pretty well. Overall, USA looked shite...especially Timmy Howard. Wouldn't be surprised to see Nick Rimando in goal next international break if Howard can't get it together at the club and international level.
  16. A bit bored at the office today, working on creating this graph now. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find a reliable source for "chances created" during the 2012-13 season for all 20 premier league teams. If anyone on here would be so kind as to lend me a link, I will produce a graph based on total squad cost 2012-13
  17. Was a bit surprised myself. At the time, he was one of our more "prolific" goalscorers, notching a whopping 8 in the league in 34 appearances, and 10 in all competitions. Thinking Mirallas is gonna be our best shot at a consistent goalscorer this year.
  18. My vote goes to Arouna Kone....for all around worst man on the pitch for either side. Horrid first competitive start for him. He best show some signs of improvement, or we will be seeing alot of Vic and Jela this season.
  19. Surprisingly it is on beIN sport in the USA! Too bad game is on while I'm at work...thank heavens for DVR
  20. No offense mate, but I am American, and I hate that bottom crest. Reminds me of a tattoo I might see on the chest of an overweight woman riding a Harley Davidson.
  21. I was in NYC last month visiting some friends and we stumbled into a bar around 3 AM for a last beer, and the entire bar was adorned with Everton scarves, pennants, flags and kits. Turns out we just happened to stumble into the NYC Everton Supporter's bar. Sheer coincidence and none of my friends understood why I was so happy. Loving the Premier League subway cars, just wish i could have seen one last month...might have "broken the seal" on the liverpool car
