  1. if he gets fit. That's my main concern. I've defended him repeatedly for years but I've had enough of his antics and have no faith that he will get back to match fitness or be played behind the striker. For 60k a week, he's too expensive to have around

Spot on, my sentiments exactly. We need a younger replacement

  2. Rumours that Villas-Boas may take over from Brenda. :jump for joy:

I'm a fan of villas boas and wouldn't like this. He plays a high line and press, our kryptonite. Also he did well at Spurs, it wasn't his fault Franco baldini bought a bunch of terrible players with the bale money. He's doing well with zenit and I would expect him to be top 5 with Liverpool.

Brenda is a good manager as well, just got screwed just like villas boas when Suarez left. Granted villas boas didn't pick the players and Brenda did, so he does take more fault for that. But he's still a good manager, he will do well elsewhere, maybe villa or something.

  3. What if this lineup crushes? (or any "out of the box" lineup, for that matter)

Or will it be difficult to judge anything in a meaningful way, because Kras has nothing to play for?

Doesn't really matter about the score line (we want to win obviously) more of a game to watch players fitness to gauge their readiness for first

Team action. I doubt Krasnodar will put a full strength side out as they need to focus on the Russian prem now. For the youngsters it's about Making an impression and hoping to win over the coaches to see some first team minutes.

  4. Oh did he? I didn't realise that.

In that case I can see wholesale changes.

That's my future reading skills at their best.

Yeah since we already qualified there's nothing to play for but pride so he said he wanted to give youth and Kone and the like a chance.

  5. Nothing like us playing shit and getting beat regularly to bring drama to a frustrated board

Very True Paddock. My question with everyone bashing the RM philosophy of no Plan B and just Tiki Taka pass it around, how has Arsenal gotten 11 straight CL qualifications playing the exact same system? They pass around all day with huge possession stats, don't ever switch to hoof ball, and frequently pass sideways and backwards. Goes to show it's not the philosophy or that it's been "found out", just that we need better players.

  6. I was really happy when we signed barry and am eating a little humble pie now. I think the thing with Barry is that RM really needs to rotate him better. He should just have Besic and Barry switching off between matches, that will give Mo some time to get acclimatized (there you go Mike) and give Barry the rest he needs to play well.

Next year I think he'll be a squad guy, and the year after he'll be working on his coaching badges probably.

  7. I love Tim Howard, he's a big reason I follow Everton, but I've seen him enough in the Blue kit and think it's time for RM to start getting Robles some matches with rotation. I think the World Cup was Tim's peak after last season, he's going down hill now and to be honest, if an MLS team is interested we should sell him. Get something for the guy. Not January, but in the summer I'd look to move him.

  8. I think it's funny that the only clever midfielder with a true footballing brain is the one that people want out. He may not have the legs but he more than makes up for it in ability to make something on the ball.

Eto'o is in the same bracket yet everyone seems to give him the praise for exactly the same attributes. No pace great brain...

We are crying out for someone in and around the box to play a clever pass as we all too predictable. That man is pienaar, yet people want him gone. SOMEpeople on this forum really do talk out of there arses.

We need to be clever with our selections. There is certain positions where squad rotation is a no brained. Pienaar at home as we have majority possession and are continually in and around the opposition box making it key to have the likes of pienaar about. And mgeady and kev in away games as we need the legs to get out quick and press teams.

.....oh I notice it's all the yanks that want him out aswell. All this proves is that every American has no footballing knowledge what so ever. I see they don't bang on that Howard is past his best and should be sold. He made an outstanding save yesterday and I guarantee he makes a fatal error against Qpr.

i used to be his biggest defender (and i'm american). years past he and baines were amazing together. this year proves he's past it and that's why i'd like to see him go. he has no speed at all, and slows the play down which has been a problem of ours. we play best with our pace (mirallas, ross, lukaku, mcgeady, coleman, baines) all tearing down on the counter and he doesn't fit that mold. he slows it down and then falls over when touched every single time. he used to defend with baines, he can't be arsed to track back now, too old and slow and unfit. gets injured after every match he plays. he's done for. he used to have great ball retention as well, the last few games he's played its been needless pass and passing to the opposition. he's past it amigo.

  9. That's very true. Every week the league twists and turns. Results are unpredictable. It is going to be a very tight league this year.

exactly. plus west ham is 4-5 right now, we all know that won't stay. Soton either, they are just started to play the big boys with monday nights match, so i can see them dropping as well.

  10. We've already won our Europa League Group and advanced to the Round of 32. This is a game for youth and reserve players who need match fitness. Here's what I would like to see depending on if Gibson, Naisy, and Pienaar are fit

    Robles

    Hibbert Alcaraz Browning Garbutt

    Ledson Gibson/Besic

    Atsu/McGeady McAleny/Naismith Pienaar

    Kone

  11. I want to move on from the Man city match. QPR won today, goals by Leroy Fer (guess that knee isn't a bother after all) and Charlie Austin. Austin was sent off so luckily we don't have to see the 3rd highest goal scorer in the prem. All our regulars should be rested up from the week off of Europa so I'm really hoping to see a very strong side and win. We need 3 points and it's always good to beat ole 'arry.

    Howard

    Coleman Jags Distin Baines

    McCarthy Besic

    McGeady Barkley Mirallas

    Lukaku

  12. Mcarthy Barkley(pushing on)

    Eto'o/Mcgeady Naismith Mirallas

    Lukaku

If everyone is fit and on form:

    Howard

    Coleman Stones Jags Baines

    Ross. McCarthy

    Mcgeady. Eto'o Mirallas

    Rom

Subs: Joel, Browning, Hibbert, Besic, gibson, Naismith, Kone.

Maybe change Hibbert and Gibson for Chadwick and Ossie

i like the look of that. still 4231 but ross is attacking from deep, box to box. if we could get a better right winger than mcgeady i'd really be excited.

  13. He should now play Barkley next to McCarthy

Agreed. But we also need another option when Ross is rested or for cup matches. Doesn't have to be a world beater since Ross will provide a lot of the creativity when he starts, but ossie won't cut it as ACM.
