I was actually wondering where it would be regulated, if it was at all. For example, does FIFA have authority to order drug tests of any player in the WC, or is this the responsiblity of each country's governing football association? Each team has its own trainers/traning camp etc., and I wonder how much access, if any, FIFA "overseers" have to these camps.

There are at least two PhDs contributing to these forums, so let's make it very clear that neither one (to my knowledge) enhanced the performance of their brains with drugs!
Well certainly lots of late night coffee was a PED for me.

think thats unfair, Belgium gave him nothing to work with at all....
... long may it continue! We might get him at a cut price
Okay, true enough, the whole team is playing poorly, Lukaku included.
-
The way Lukaku is playing today against Algeria, I think his price will drop considerably.

This is what I used to call 'my yard'
I've certainly had that type of yard (and smaller) when I lived in Boston, but a few years back I made the decision to move out to the country because I wanted some peace and quiet. My friends think it's the middle of nowhere but it's exactly where I want to be.
-
I set up a little pitch in my yard to play 5v5 or 4v4 soccer. Our motto is "Beer drinkers with a soccer-playing problem" (borrowing from hashing, if you know that sport). Gives all us over-the-hill 40-somethings a chance to pretend we are young again.
The balls sometimes get kicked into the woods but the view ain't too bad
The goals were easy to build and I bought the nets on line for about 15$. It's loads of fun.

That is truly wonderful Mike. I am so happy for you my friend.
Oh on 26th of this month I have my next surgery. Kind of major and it will knock me back BUT they reckon I am now strong enough to undergo this procedure. We are indestructible lad
Best of luck on this. I truly hope all goes well my friend.

In two minds whether to keep updating this but I suppose as I've started and got so much positive (and much appreciated) response I should do so briefly.
Had another big meeting with "the team" yesterday with much examination and all still looking good; still badly swollen from the radiotherapy which can take a year to go down but no sign of cancer and they said that if there was a problem they'd normally have picked it up by now. They wouldn't go so far as to say I'm definitely in remission, and you're not told you're "cured" until five years clear, but all still as positive as it could be . Two months 'til my next check, though I've got an MRI scan in about three weeks.
Good to hear. Hope the road to recovery continues to be smooth. Strength to you.

Something strange is going on here, because verreauxi achieved yet another perfect score. At this point, his lead is becoming unassailable.
Oh how you'll jinx me with that taunt of "unassailable"
-
Day 1, and we already have a perfect score. Way to go, verreauxi, for predicting the half-time result and the exact final score. You lead the table for game, round, and tournament!
Anyone predict that the first goal of the tournament would be an OG? I can't imagine the payout among the bookies for that one.
-
Thanks for doing this. I don't envy you having to tally up the scores. Let me know if you're up this way again Steve, we can catch a game at my place.

Is it a general consensus that we don't have the funds for Barry? Or is it that he's likely to go elsewhere even if we did have the funds?
Either way, it would be a real shame to lose his midfield presence.

Bummed that they couldn't pull off a win. But congrats to them for runner's up.

Come on QPR...get back up!

I'm thinking of having one bet for the World Cup this summer and it will probably trying to predict the two countries that will qualify from each group. Thought I'd show you what I'm thinking and see if users on here agree/disagree with my selections. Maybe some of you will have more information about certain countries than me so any advice will be welcome. Here are mine..... (selections in bold)
Group A Group B Group C Group D
Brazil Spain Colombia Italy
Mexico Netherlands Greece England
Croatia Chile Ivory Coast Uruguay
Cameroon Australia Japan Costa Rica
Group E Group F Group G Group H
Switzerland Argentina Germany Belgium
Ecuador Bosnia- Herzegovina Portugal Algeria
France Iran Ghana Russia
Honduras Nigeria USA South Korea
I know it's very difficult to predict but it's a bit of fun. Which do you disagree with?
I would also favor Japan and the Dutch rather than your choices. Also, Iran or Nigeria are likely to do better than B-H. But it's always a mystery.

That's funny, but I'm not sure why.

Just was able to watch the game on DVR. I can't say anything that hasn't been said, but Alcaraz looked confident at both ends--got his head on the ball for two of our corners even. Colemen and Mirallas, to state the obvious, were pesky and meddlesome. And I'm glad Howard kept a clean sheet. Strong great stuff. Wish Hull City had done better earlier today.
