MC11 got a reaction from Quinn31 in John Stones
No haven't been overly impressed with Jagielka of late but I think it's seriously early doors for Stones to be taking his place. Against a more ready attacking opposition I think Stones inexperience will be highlighted

MC11 reacted to Shukes in Lukaku & Naismith
It's not that we all think he's a superstar all of a sudden, but that we appreciate his contribution, professionalism and effort.
After getting so much stick he has done great to stay on track. Also he is a much better forward than a winger.

He's played up front about 8 times and has 5 goals.

MC11 got a reaction from Matt in West Ham (home)
Deulofeu is still not 100% IMO. Will have done him a world of good playing today though.
Surprised Mirallas was not used and if we'd failed to have won the game I'd probably be moaning about.
Very good 3 points that though.

Why is that relevant? The rules are different for the cup.

I cant understand why people are so enraged about this thread, its a pretty valid argument IMO

6-0 Lukaku FGS and hatrick. Now there's positivity.

but still won, a strategy that worked in that game.... Just like this season in their backyard, where we passed it around aimlessly a lot of the time. Still won. Look at the table now; Everton 45 points playing pretty, United 45 points playing ugly. Different approaches to games, same points. Says that neither tactic is perfect to me....
For those who say we've come on a great deal, you're wrong. We are still in the same position we usually end up at because of injuries, bad luck, individual cockups. Still out of the League Cup too early, still bottled our game at Anfield, still going to miss out on a CL place despite having the opportunity to make it by taking control...
For those who say nothing's changed, we've stayed at the same level, you're wrong. We attack more, we have a positive feel, and we can be more proud of how we play than before. We are less frustrating and more exciting.
Most important of all, which is why this thread initially was a load of nonsense - we are in a transition phase! We need this balance I mentioned of mixing ugly and pretty, because as the league table shows, neither work on their own. The big difference is Martinez will more likely adapt his game, and slowly change the squad with his players. That's why it's not the "same old Everton", because just like when Moyes took over, there's a breath of fresh air filled with optimism, which is something that's long been missing. Work in progress, and early signs are much more encouraging

That was a great night of football? No? Goodison not bouncing?

It will never be a fair comparison because Martinez inherited a top 6 side full of internationals. Moyes inherited relegation fodder and built from scratch.
To be quite honest I'm bored of people saying we are doing "better" under Martinez. Quite clearly we aren't. The only thing that is better is the brand football and without financial input I can't see us doing better than Moyes ever did in the league. One thing I do think is Martinez will get that elusive trophy at some point. That's down to him being seemingly fearless in attack.
It's not picking it apart it's actually looking at the facts and realising we actually aren't yet ready to go to the next level and I've also witnessed shit performances this season too.
The stats also show we aren't creating as many chances as we were under Moyes (that's with all this wonderful football). They show we are completing slightly more passes and that's about it.

And Gibson was quite easily our most influential midfielder last season.
Coleman has been player of the season hands down.

Kid? You're 20.
Serious question mate and not trying to be offensive. Do you wear glasses and sit in the top balcony?
I've never seen a player come in with such an inability to trap a ball ever go on to be a decent player. Never mind in 5 months. He a write off. Straqmk2 -
MC11 got a reaction from Matt in Same old Everton
He has improved the brand of football in the sense that we now move the ball across the back four rather than 50% of the time going direct.
However it's just plain fact that he hasn't taken us to the next level just yet. It is the same scenario as last season. We have fallen away from the top 4. We will have to wait till the end of the season to make a proper judgement on things.

Might be a blessing in disguise if it is a long term injury, then we can send him back to Monacoa and save money on the wages. Either that or get him to give kids rides along Blackpool beach with all the other donkeys

MC11 reacted to Cake in Lacina Traore
Just because Monaco signed him doesn't make him even a decent player, let alone some sort of world-beater, it just means he's got a shit-hot agent.
I remember him from when he played for Anzhi and while that was only one game on tv against The Shite he reminded me then, and still does now, of a very poor version of Shola Ameobi and his total inability to control or pass the ball against Swansea have done nothing to change that.

We played some great football under Moyes. It's a complete myth that we were just hoofball specialists. Last season our built up play was very good at times.

How close do you want me to watch him? Wow a goal yesterday? Bargain if hull made the opportunities? How close were you watching as he squandered chance after chance for us? Nobody was gob smacked when we got the money for him? I think if you read the posts after he was sold you'd be embarrassed -
MC11 reacted in Lacina Traore
Close enough to know that he is decent player and not the useless donkey you make him out to be.
Yes a goal yesterday 'wow' we all know what Jelly is capable of when his confidence is up and it will be returning now with those two goals.
Who was gob smacked at £5M for a player who has it in his locker to score for fun?
I think your analysis of him is embarrassing to be honest.
Chance after chance... He missed a handful and of course you would expect better but he couldn't buy a goal sometimes his luck wasn't in.
Hull probably create more opportunities than we do and he will benefit from Long doing a lot of ground work for him.

I understand it completely. You would accept a mid table finish for possession based football and you'd congratulate the team for doing so.
Well I'd rather watch direct football and actually finish higher in the table, it's all about success for me and tikka taka can be very boring if you aren't getting wins.
