  1. I'll be crucified for saying this but since we missed on Zouma I think our CB cover should be Gary Cahill on a free. Ideally one yr contract but we have to go to two yrs. He'd bring a certain mentality to the dressing room which Holgate and Mina could benefit from. Certainly has enough in him to fill in for a few weeks if need be. Most importantly allows us to chase dynamic attacking players.
  2. Pure speculation I don't think this one is dead yet. Now that the big clubs appear to have disappeared I could see us going in on deadline day.
  3. At this point it's looking like Mirallas/Holgate will serve as backup RB so wouldnt be shocked to see him stay. Yikes. Niasse bolasie tosun and onyekuru all look destined for loans in Turkey. Would be great if we could sell at least two. Pennington to champ/l1. Martina to eredivisie? McCarthy to Newcastle/Palace? Not a single link to Besic which is odd. Could he be including in deal with the guy from Mainz? Bundesliga could be his level.
  4. Marcel is tremendous. Absolutely love his negotiating prowess. We've seen on numerous occasions 'here's our price take it or leave it'. Sure sometimes that means we don't get the player but it also protects us from a certain amount of risk. I'm a bigger fan of Walsh than most on here, over time he's proven to have more hits than misses and every DoF has hits and misses, but whoever was negotiating while he was in charge (can't remember if he was just the talent spotter or spotter and negotiator) was TERRIBLE. The players we bought are good players, the fees we paid are not. Surely Marcel would have said Keane 20m or we'll find someone else, Siggy 25-30m or we'll find someone else and so on. Seems like every deal under Walsh/Koeman was 10m more than the rest of the market was willing to pay. We were always the sucker. I just get the sense the list of targets is much deeper under Marcel which allows you to hold other clubs accountable for crazy asking prices. More work to (hopefully) be done this summer but I know with Marcel here the club is in the best of hands.
  5. Fine with that as long as buyback is two years from now. Want him focused this year.

  7. Went from loving it to sad. Pictures make it look orange with a touch of pink. That shirt is PINK. I’ve been dying for an orange shirt for 10+ years. That said still purchasing
  8. Dying for Villa to want one of our players. The fees they are paying are outrageous!!! Makes everyone else look sensible which is hard to do nowadays.
  9. The word replacement is not definitive enough in this case. I understand why Marco said Delph isn’t a replacement for Gana - partly to not undercut the Gana fee and partly because their skill sets are different. However Delph is 100% going to take Gana’s place in the starting XI. So from that perspective Delph is absolutely his replacement. I love Gana, easily my favorite player since he joined us but not concerned about his leaving at this point. Because of Everton’s financial realities I think the best we could hope for with him in the team was 6th/7th due to his style of play. For all of his strengths he did limit the other CMs. Selling Gana is a risk but one worth taking now in year 2 under Marco - i look forward to seeing a more ‘dynamic’ midfield.
  10. He’d improve our team but it’s a no for me because his heart is set on Arsenal. You don’t win things by signing players who don’t want to be there.
  11. Finn nailed it. Not even a hint of an away shirt.
  12. Poor Marcel! He's had another strong summer so far but it's remarkable how much work is left to be done. We could still be looking at 10-12 out and 3-5 in... Out: Pennington Martina McCarthy Bolasie Niasse Besic Mirallas Lookman Onyekuru Morgan Cenk Gana In: RB cover, CB, Gana replacement, AM, ST Wtf are we doing with 3 senior gk's? Surely Stek is leaving? How hasn't that happened yet...
  13. Aidan's point is he just started following them. Richie/Bernard could be coincidence but no reason to add Mina unless there is something to this. Doesn't mean it's a guarantee but the player obviously feels it's close.

  15. 'DELPH NO GUEYE REPLACEMENT' Everton boss Marco Silva has insisted the signing of Fabian Delphfrom Manchester City does not mean Idrissa Gueye is set to leave the club. Delph joined on a three-year deal for a fee believed to be £9m on Tuesdayand is expected to compete for a midfield berth at Goodison Park after spending much of the end of his time at City as a makeshift left-back. "Gana (Gueye) is still our player and, of course, if we lose Gana then we have to sign a player to replace him because you are talking about one player playing almost all of the games in our squad," Silva said. "If it will happen then we have to replace him, it is not because we have signed Fabian Delph." The fact he says 'if we lose Gana' means it's likely to happen. He is one of my favorite players in the squad, however i think selling to PSG is best for EFC and the player.
  16. Expect the away kit to be released prior to Wigan game. We're playing at the DW and their blue and green of course so unless we're playing shirts and skins or wearing training tops seems like we should have an away kit by then.
  17. Agreed. More or less nail in coffin this. They still have Rudiger, Luiz, Christensen and Tomori (who Lampard loves) but they still need one more given CL football so Zouma almost certain to stay.
  18. Does Gana take a break after AFCON or come straight back in? Any break would surely rule him out to start the season as he wouldn't be back until a week before the season starts.

  21. This should be more upsetting than it is. Somehow it was almost fun. Everton found me in 06-07. Admittedly i forget most of the first few years so this is basically a team of the decade (2010-2019): Mucha Cuco Senderos Mangala Alcaraz van der Meyde Drenthe MagayeGueye Jo Eto'o Sandro For the price AWilliams, Schneiderlin and Bolasie are nightmares but they at least contributed. Also fun reminder Everton have whiffed hard on a number of youth players they paid decent sums for: Henen, Tarashaj, Leandro, Joao Silva, Francisco Jr., LJutkiewicz, Vellios
  22. This is way out there but I do think Weston McKennie is premier league quality. He just signed an extension with Schalke but I'll be hoping next year (after Jonjoe gets in his ear this season to tell him how great Everton is) that he would consider a move to us and replace Gana. Selfishly, we're overdue for another American!
  23. Yikes what a miss. Thank you for the heads up.
