  1. “Character is a talent and a skill in its own right,” Lampard said, addressing the notion that with Richarlison gone, there is a shortage of star power in the Everton ranks. “My gut feeling is that Conor Coady was telling people what to do when he was 12 years old. “But you have to buy it unless you are a manager fortunate enough to walk in to a club where you see people sitting in the corner who you can tap in to. If you don't see it you have to recruit it,” the manager continued, alluding to the “broken” squad, in his words, over which he assumed control at the end of January. “You need enough players who will pass on the message of what you are trying to do. You get an hour and a half on the training ground every day but the players will spend much more time than that together. So if you have people who are passing the message on it makes your job a lot easier. “If I ask what the plan was this summer, it was this: Can we bring more personality into the team? 'Can we be more solid at the back? Can we bring more youth that will develop and get better? I think we have done that. Now it's up to us — and me — to work and show that we are doing a good job. “Outside the fanbase maybe there is a more casual or lazy view that Everton are big historically and should be in the top eight after the money that we spent a while ago. But it doesn't work that way. “I am very driven and Evertonians are very driven and want to get back to where we want to be. But it's hard to set expectations because this Premier League is so challenging. “To think we can go from a relegation battle and solve those problems in a window (is wrong). And you can't solve them in one day on the training pitch. I think Evertonians are very understanding. No one is expecting us to go to the moon.”
  2. Interesting point made in Frank's press conference I hadnt thought of. Because of the world cup we actually have 6 weeks of games missing before the next transfer window. In other words squad depth is a little less important this year than any other because we don't have nearly as many fixtures to play prior to January. Furthermore we might send 2-3 to the world cup at best so you'd expect a fully fit squad on boxing day coming out of the world cup.

  5. Quick reminder on outgoings - the windows in Portugal, Belgium, Turkey, Greece and Russia all open beyond September 1 so we shouldn't immediately panic if Gomes, Allan and Rondon are still in the squad.
  6. We’re building something here. You can see it starting to come together. We’re a solid mid-table team for once. I’m already loving this team because it’s predictable and consistent. We don’t try to be something we’re not and everyone puts in a shift. Kudos to Frank for getting the best (which I know for many of the players still isn’t good enough for our aspirations but he’s not a miracle worker) out of so many players.
  7. Love that even at 26 years old it’s still only a 3 yr deal. Significantly reduces the risk.
  8. Most likely, here it is nonetheless https://twitter.com/JustDoodlinRob/status/1562118147817226242?s=20&t=tXDVhpMrYfFV-KFb2ki4HA
  9. It was on twitter yesterday he and his agent were photographed at the Titanic.
  10. No Allan, Gbamin or Dele on the bench. Crikey we're a mess. And by mess i just mean short on numbers. I'm glad Dele appears to be leaving and hope Gbamin and Gomes do as well.
  11. Agreed and I, for one, won't miss him at all. Doesn't help the majority on here but for the USA folks on here you can access it on ESPN+
  12. Like most of the above but move Gbamin to CB. I’d like to see us stick to one formation for the season and commit to mastering it. Of course it will go wrong sometimes but over the long term every good team does it.
  13. Really good so far. Still a lot of work to be done. Need a striker. Need miracles to shift Keane, Rondon, and 2 of Allan/Gbamin/Gomes. Have to expect Nkounkou out on loan.

  15. By sheer coincidence on our April trip our last game was Fulham-Coventry at the Cottage. Like others have said he's playing in the Championship so who knows about the step up but what I'll say is he was the best player on the pitch that day by miles. I had never heard of him before and left incredibly impressed. Simms can't help us until next year. Exactly this. We need someone young and hungry to fight for first choice and not pout when they're on the bench. I'd expect a lad with this pedigree to be exactly that.
  16. Thank you Steve, much appreciated. Another year of never predicting an Everton loss. Hopefully this year goes better than last Everton 1 - 1 Chelsea Gordon
  17. No thanks. We still have a chance on Gallagher, Broja and Gilmour. I'd have any of them first. We can only sign one Chelsea player on loan.
  18. Can put this one to bed. Moyes has just said he's in the building.
