Loved his reaction. True Everton fan favourite in the making; wears his heart on his sleeve, gives it everything. Even after his head protection got nicked (expecting the thieving Scousers jokes to start!) he still challenged in arial battles without hesitation. Amazing how quickly he has settled.

Big learning year for John this season, he's only going to get better. Give him that new contract with a ridiculous release clause and just enjoy watching him.

Went and watched oxford play at Millwall last night. Thought he was really tidy on the ball, controlled the midfield and had a cracking shot that hit the post and turned in by Roofe for the second. Not sure if he is mobile enough though, he's a big lad. Oxford look a team that will keep moving up. I'd happily send players there on loan as they keep the ball.
