  1. Doesn't mean we should sell cheap though. Despite what some have said about his performances there, he did decently well in the Bundesliga and is only 20. If £25m is the going rate for a, very good, 21 year old championship player, I'd be disappointed at 20m and downright unhappy at 15m.
  2. Not for us, but interest from others might be less and the asking price lowered.
  3. Anyone know if he would be cup tied, if he plays qualification games?
  4. isn'tt he a Left Winger? He played 29 of 31 games as a LW in 16/17, when he collected 8 goals and 22 assists. Unless you think Bolasie & Mirallas are good enough/should stay (I don't), we're short competition in that spot. My only concern is the impact on Lookman, or RB asking for him in trade.
  5. Yes please. 22, 194cm, nearly 100 bundesliga games, quick and comfortable on the ball.
  6. No one gets guaranteed game time but he's definitely one of the 2 competing LW for mine, especially in a reduced pro youth squad. Number 1 of the 2, with what we currently have. Thankfully, it looks like they've given up on a "buy success" strategy. We need to build it long term, challenging and playing quality prospects is going to be central to that. I think he's good enough now (for 1 of 2), but reckon Lookman can really grow/thrive with some faith and the challenge of responsibility.
  7. Looks alright, doesn't he? Was a darn dangerous cross he put in, if only someone was there. Mooy's been linked in a few articles, but don't see it happening. He's not a lone #6 type, and don't see him moving from Huddersfield
  8. I'd be de-re-ligt in my duty, if I didn't point out had bad these puns are given the pronunciation.
  9. Davinson Sanchez was one of the Ajax centrebacks last year. He moved to Tottenham at the start of the year (for £36m), having just turned 21, and is now starting centreback in a top 3 team. De Ligt will be 2 years younger (19) at the start of the season, but has played a lot of senior football (including in Europe and National team). It certainly is a lot of money, but around the Sanchez mark given; how highly regarded, younger, and continued inflation... I'd probably be more comfortable going for Jonathan Tah (guessing a lot cheaper) and would have been happy with Issa Diop, but this would be a big coup...
  10. Where would he play? His ideal spot is the same as Gylfi.
  11. If so, a huge miss...letting West Ham beat us to quality (and relatively cheap) targets in positions of obvious need.
  12. Don't really get this one. Why would we pay through the nose (premier league mark-up) for a player whose coach has deemed not good enough, strengthening a competitor in the process (via a profit). Would much rather we went hard for Jonathan Tah or Issa Diop, for similar or less £.
  13. Don't know him, but 6 goals 9 assists seems a decent enough return.
  14. (Curious) where are you getting that stat from and what are the parameters? I've seen a few, and they can be confusing without context. One was that only 0.5% make it from u9's through to that clubs first team. This particular stat "considers" the likes of Pogba, Fabregas, etc. as "failures". On the other hand, the latest CIES monthly report has club-trained players (at least 3 years, between 15 - 21, in team/club of employment) at 14.1% in England (only guessing that's top division). Interesting read (brief enough), talks about correlations with roster age and success. These findings all depend on that definition of "club-trained" player though. 15. He's a (H-issa?...) big lad. Been highly rated for a few years. Only listed "weakness" I've seen was Agility. Not sure how that would go paired with Keane... Looks to be very good on the ball. Only 21.
  16. https://www.footballfancast.com/premier-league/everton/everton-target-lucas-torreira-would-prove-to-be-more-valuable-than-idrissa-gueye Seen him linked in a few articles, this was just the latest.
  17. He wants to open opportunities for youth, so Bolasie springs to my mind. Cuco? Probably agree with Schneiderlin, think we can cover with what we've got and have a few young CDM's. Keeping McCarthy and/or Besic probably dependent on Schneiderlin. Apparently Klaasen might be going, on loan, to Besiktas, so that would clear his for the year.
  18. Good, left-field, shout, but agree that he's unlikely to be considered. He's the holistic manager type right? Great personnel manager, believes in building better people to build better players and a better team?
  19. Montella's an interesting one. Hot property at Fiorentina, his next 3 roles weren't raging successes (didn't even realize he went to Sampdoria). Hasenhuttl is very good with kids and a Rangnick appointment, so think he'd get us playing the right type of pressing football.
  20. Rangnick would have been the ultimate get, he seems to have it all (playing style, coach and player type) down to a science for long term success, but he was a dream too far. Brands is a very good appointment, large improvement on Walsh (Imo). Not sure what he's like with coaching appointments but we should see some very smart player purchases and further improvement in the youth academy. Hopefully the Dutch connection helps to get de vrij to come on a free transfer.
  21. If true, I'd hope Moshiri has moved straight on. Plenty out there that are either available or gettable, Unai Emery would be up around the top of mine. Sticking with Sam, given the quality around, would be absurd.
  22. Portuguese (league) player prices are ridiculous, have been for years. Think Raul Jimenez was priced ("quoted") around 35m.
  23. Thanks. ...Slightly mollifying re: playing attitude, but even more of an indictment on Allardyce's abilities.
  24. Are we seriously sitting back against Swansea!?!?! (Not watching)
