I would say that the government have been shamed by the rest of Europe, even German citizens have been out in force demonstrating their show of support and stand with Ukraine. All members of NATO should commit to the 2% of GDP especially the richest nations in the union, after all it’s the best form of defence in the world and for it to operate properly it needs the funds just as much as the country’s that have joined. On the subject of Oil and Gas the Germans are still buying from the Russians with for now the blessing of it’s allies, this may be why we are seeing a change of stance by the Germans, to now agree to SWIFT, supply weapons and contribute to NATO in full, I think that’s part of some sort of compromise to them still buying from the Russians. The Ukrainian's have publicly thanked everyone for their additional support but on the issue of SWIFT they have asked for all and not a selected few Russian banks to have SWIFT removed, and they have also asked for all country’s to stop buying Gas and Oil from Russia which was aimed at the Germans. It’s good that more sanctions are being heaped on the Russians, but if in the coming days it’s felt it needs to go even further with all Russian banks being blocked from SWIFT and no one being allowed to buy Oil and Gas from Russia, I feel Germany will abstain from the tougher sanctions.

Hungary and Italy now saying they are prepared to take SWIFT away from Russia, Germany still refusing

Not fully granted but in 2014 they signed an agreement with the EU and in 2016 Ukraine joined the DCFTA with the EU, still they have some form of trade agreement with the EU and are allies of the EU, and on that basis I am appalled that two founder members would vote against the full sanctions that were proposed and break the united front of the West. I personally don’t want to be linked with the weakness of those two governments, as we speak thousands of Russians have been protesting and been arrested in Russia against the war to what fate god knows, I have massive respect for those people and none for German and Italian governments, and if ever given the opportunity to return to the EU I would decline whilst they enjoyed membership.

I know the EU is a trade organisation but it has gone much further than that over the years, with laws concerning citizens in the EU and what governments can and cannot do, yet two of the biggest leaders have refused to cut Russia out the SWIFT banking system to help defend one of their own members. The EU have for years been harbouring with the idea of an EU Army my god what an embarrassment that would be, when you have members who won’t even vote to take Russia out the SWIFT banking system. I have been pro EU all my adult life but I would never want to return to a Union that two of its biggest members would act the way they have to one of their own.

Even Donald Tusk has said Germany and Italy have disgraced themselves over sanctions against Russia, to defend them is to be like them disgraceful.

A derogatory term isn’t racist, if you could ask the Ukrainians what they thought of Germany Italy and Hungary not supporting the tougher sanctions, I think you would find cunt pretty mild.

Not racist just look at their history over the last 110 years.

Because certain NATO members have always made excuses for him in particular Germany for their own economic reasons, Germany have got themselves so reliant on Russia for oil and gas they have crippled themselves and are fearful of losing that supply, they need to take the pain and consequences for there economic relationships with Russia and stand shoulder to shoulder with the most of the west and their EU partners and agree to the harshest sanctions against Russia.
