  1. To say Billy is on his last chance is a bit of a step to far IMO.
  2. It's a really interesting subject to debate as there is no clear answer, also it's a subject in which everyone can fairly easily come up with an opnion which therefore opens the debate up a little bit more. With the management aspect, I can just about cope with that but on the pitch is should be Englishmen in my opinion. At the end of the day if, for example, Arteta was selected then i'll support him when he gets onto the pitch, however I won't support the decision to do so. I'll always get behind my team, be that Everton or England, and will try and go along with the decisions made for better or worse. But up until the moment that the selection decision over a foreign national player is made then i'm firmly in the camp of only nationals of that country should be eligible and should be selected.
  3. I hope he does. looked good on Sat and he'll need as many games as possible. Though it's against a weaker opposition so isn't a true test it will still see him getting used to playing with the rest of the lads. He's a confidence striker so bagging a couple at Goodison could do him wonders.
  4. Ill be down to that. I went to the FSF meeting at Wembley a month or so back. Was a fascinating experience.
  5. Good post Formby. The problem I have with the whole thing is that Arteta really doesn't have any ties to us other than a silly passport law. He's also represented his country at all youth levels up to U21 and for me if you have done this then you shouldn't be allowed to be considered for another country. Call me an old tradionalist but I think that there should much stronger ties needed to represent a country at International level than a 5 year residency. There's no pride in that. Also in regards to Arteta at 28 years old he doesn't offer us long term solutions or viability. He'll make one tournement at best and after a World Cup in which we bemoaned the lack of youth in our team then is bringing in a 28 year old foreigner the best option? We need to instill some more pride into our international team, getting rid of some of the old boys who don't pull there weight is one thing we need to do. Repatriating foreigners isn't.
  6. Saha had another injury when he signed the new contract and hasn't been the same since then. I don't think he is a mercenary type to be honest, he's just returned to his old mind set of being worried by injuries therefore not commiting himself fully.
  7. I've got a tenner on those exact three to go down. Great minds...
  8. That's right yea. Chelsea apparently offered to pay for him to go to Uni to study anything he wanted, which would then be followed by him getting his coaching badges (if he wanted them) But apparently the stipulation in this offer was that he had to go to Uni first. Seems a sensible path really.
  9. In fairness they won't go back down. many more teams much worse equiped then they are. They have a good core and have shed the primadonna nature of their playing staff.
  10. what a clown. Complaining that Woy has come in and tried to make them an English club again. idiot. You're in England mate, it's natural to want a team with a large base of homegrown talent!
  11. The problem i've had in the past with the online sytem is random allocation of seats. I ask for best available and it offers me restricted view, then call up the box office there are seata available without restricted views. Seems odd. saying this as I have a season ticket I barely have to buy additional tickets, only ever when im picking them up for friends.
  12. I'll have to see if I can find it online somewhere.
  13. I don't think so no. Pretty sure he's been at Chelsea from a fairly young age.
  14. To be honest I don;t think he'll care about the money at all. Not being able to play football will kill him. at that age I don't think the money will have hit him that much, actually playing the game will have been the important thing. A real shame becasue he looked a good prospect.
  15. Chelsea have paid for him to take his coaching badges and have offered him a coaching job for life at the club. They get taken the piss out of but they look after their own very very well.
  16. As long as tickets are still available by the time you are allowed to buy tickets the yes that should be fine. Calling the box office would be best though, and I always find it better going through the box office when buying the tickets rather than going through the online system.
  17. Don't believe the story for a second, but if it did happen then i'd probably end up in jail because of the things i'd do out of anger.
  18. Oh yea I realised that you where talking about Glen. As fans we said "If they get this much for johnson then we should get this much for Lescot". But in the business world of football then it really will have made no difference. If Liverpool had not signed Johnson we would still have held out for the same amount for Lescott. As I said before it's about the worth of a player to a club, not just the true worth of a player. And as we didnt want to sell the price tag was always going to be inflated.
  19. So who in everyones opnion is the best transfer so far this window (involving an english club) For me City signing Baloteli is the best. Class player and has all the atributes to be a huge hit over here.
  20. Got two booked in, but neither are that soon. Jonsi (from Sigur Ros) in October Arcade Fire in December. I can't wait for either.
  21. The Lescott sale price had nothing to do with the Johnson sale. We'd have still held out for a kings ransom because we didn't want to sell. The Milner sale is hard to tell, places reporting different things. main one i've seen is that it was £28m, then they classed Ireland as £8m so Villa got £20m. Something like that, not sure precise figures as I don't really care that much about either of those teams so i'll take it all with a pinch of salt.
  22. You'd think so but this is SAF we are talking about. I'm suprised he didn't blame City.
  23. One aspect of transfers that often gets over looked is not the true and fair value of a player but what a player is worth to a club. The club is the one that should be in the power here and the sale of a player should be determined by what he is worth to the club, not just what the player should be worth. The Lescot case is a good example. He is not a £24m player, however at the time that was a fair price for Everton as his value to the club was higher than that of his true value.
