  2. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/24_hour-drinking-would-have-worked-if-britain-wasn't-dreadful,-say-experts-201007282951/ Don't know if anyone here is a Daily Mash fan but this is a cracking article. Very very funny.
  3. There must be something in the water Mike! This morning had a bit of John Martyn- London Conversation to help lift the cobwebs. Stunning album.
  4. True to an extent but if Gosling has been injured and was having check-ups this month on the extent of his injury (and he did) then it makes sense to hold off on offering a big contract before this happens. We could have been told his career was over days after signing him up on a three year deal. I am really disapointed in Gosling. He should have handled himself so much better, i'm not fussed about him going because we've all seen him play and it's clear that he's not the player that the headlines make him out to be. I'm annoyed in the manner that this has happened. No class and no respect. I had thought that Gosling could have become our John O'Shea. Uninspiring but fairly solid player who somehow pops up with the odd goal against bigger teams. Oh well. He can go and pick up his paychecks in Newcastle and watch the slow decline of his career now. He's made his bed and he has to lie in it now, he's going to be royaly ripped apart when he comes back to Goodison. There will defiantly be tears this time, especially if Johnny H gets anywhere near him on the pitch!
  5. Tell you what that would be a deal that would work out very well for both parties. It wouldn't happen but it would work out brilliantly for all involved.
  6. In a life many moons ago
  7. Paul Weller- Aim High Duckworth Lewis Methd- Jiggery Pokery The Black Keys- Hard Row All cracking tunes.
  8. I'd have N'zogbia here in a heartbeat but the cost is going to be a real issue and i'm very very surprised that we've been linked with him. Birmingham have already had a bid of around £8m turned down and I can't see how we can compete with that (which is rather depressing) and if we did have that kind of money to spend i'd much much much prefer us to invest in Donovan.
  9. I think he looks a real prospect. The problems with this being two fold. One; We don't have any money. Two; I have no idea how we would fit him into our team. We have a huge amount of options in the centre and I just can't see the logic of signing yet another central player.
  10. Currently working as a university lecturer, teaching Film Production.
  11. Breaking Bad season one and In Treatment season one both being plowed through at the moment. Both crackers
  12. To have Felli back is going to be a huge bonus. It's amazing to think that we could go into this season with a full squad available. When was the lsat time we could say that?
  13. Hola everyone, Been away for quite awhile due to work reasons but should be back on from now on! It's going to be good to be back!
  14. Pure bullshit. Simply will not happen. Oh joy. Silly season's back.
  15. I cant really see how this is a "terrible" opinion. I have reasoned out my opinion as much as possible. I never said he was an awful keeper, just said that he isn't amazing, which he isn't. I agree he is a great shot stopper, as i already said, but he is beaten too often from long range and distribution is pretty poor as well. I gave a fair assumption of his ability, i havnt criticised or berrated him too much, one penalty save and all the media suddenly speak of him as this world beater and that he is one of the best in the country. I'm sorry but i just cant buy that. Howard has made many silly mistakes this year. Howard is good but if we want to kick on in the upper ranks of the league then we could do with better.
  16. From football365's brilliant MediaWatch piece today (anyone who does not read MediaWatch everyday, then they really should, because it's brillaint. One of the only national media sources that roundly takes the piss out of football:- Ban This Filth! The Daily Mail, that last bastion of moral decency and keepers of the flame that is fairness and sportsmanship, have been running a campaign for a while against diving, hoping to rid our game of this appalling scourge. Launching the campaign back in September, the paper wrote: 'Today Sportsmail launches a campaign aimed at shaming football's divers. It is called simulation, but it is cheating. Players falling theatrically, conning referees, deceiving opponents and, ultimately, cheating supporters... 'We believe our campaign will embarrass the cheats into staying on their feet. We also ask our readers to join us in our crusade by exposing the conmen. Contact our diving department (right) and we will publish the names online and in print...Today we ask for your help. Expose the cheats.' Today they offer the latest instalment of their crusade, lambasting Herman Hreidarsson for joining the 'ever-growing list of players who have successfully duped a referee this season'. This is ignoring the fact that the big man clearly just fell over, and admitted on Match Of The Day that it wasn't a penalty. Mediawatch assumed that this effort to expose the 'cheats' extended across the Premier League, so skipped to their report of the Blackburn v Liverpool match, expecting to see similar outrage. Curiously, there is absolutely no mention of brave England hero Steven Gerrard's tumble. How very strange. A Handy Stocking Filler The Mail weren't the only offenders though. The Sun fails to mention the incident, preferring to big up Stevie for managing 500 Liverpool games, while The Daily Mirror dismisses it as a 'penalty shout' and describes Gerrard as 'one of this country's best ever players'. The Guardian developed a similar Wenger-esque selective vision, The Times only mentions Gerrard's name in passing despite giving half the page over to a picture of him, and The Daily Express only includes him in a quote from Rafa Benitez. However, the award for finest sin of omission goes to The Daily Telegraph's Henry Winter, who you may recall spent much of the last couple of weeks demanding Thierry Henry be banned from the World Cup for cheating, and who 'Tweeted' on Saturday: 'Justice! Watching Portsmouth-Burnley in Cape Town cafe...and everyone could see Hreidarsson had dived'. Available now as a lovely Christmas present; 'Gerrard: My Autobiography', ghost-written by Henry Winter. And From That Autobiography... "If I saw a team-mate doing it (diving), I would definitely have a word." Presumably it's going to be a confusing morning in the Gerrard household as Stevie has a word with himself.
  17. Lets not get carried away. When he played his debut (admitadley out of position) he was roundly criticised. He's young and lets just hope that the last two games are a sign of things too come. He's young and anything could happen in his career. The problem is that football is all about "now, now, now!". If he's given time then he could really develop, however time is not always a luxery permitted to a footballer, especially in the Premier League.
  18. Regarding the Howard debate started with Romey and Dunc, I lean towards Romey's side of the argument but think it's not as clear cut as he states. Howard is a great close range shot stopper, possibly one of the best in the league, and he does get beaten from long range way too often and this season has been comanding his area very poorly. However I feel that people shoot from long range becasue they can't beat him a close range and the revolving line of defenders this season does not help him trying to arrange his defence. Howard is an average goalkeepr if we really look at it, he makes some great stops at close range but makes mistakes in other areas. I can name at least five goalkeepers better than him playing in the league at the moment. Cech, Friedel, Van Der Sar, Jaaskelianan, Riena, Given, Schwarzer are all current premier league goal keepers that i can think off the top of my head that are better than Howard. He is an above average goal keeper who, untill this year, previously played in front of a very solid defence. Last season he was one of the goal keepers who had to make the fewest saves, I believe Van der Sar was the only one above him, this is why he had so many clean sheets, because the defence stopped most attacks before they came to him. This year our defence has been shite leaving Howard to make more saves and he does make alot of mistakes. I like Howard but would definatly replace him given the chance, it's just that we always have much more pressing positions. Personally I like Kieren Westwood at Cov.
  19. Fair play to him, not fully sure what games Pearce has been watching, but games like this will help him push on. Rodwell has improved no end since playing for the England youth teams throughout the summer. I hope Gosling takes this chance now, he did well in the summer for the U19's (i think it was anyway). lets see if he can deliver at the next level.
  20. I remember him. He was a staple of early Championship Manager games. Everyone thought he would be huge, but he was being hyped at the age of 14, and as we all well know 14 is not really the best time to judge a player, we have had countless young prospects at that age who never made the step up. I dont think he is worth a loan as I dont think he will ever be good enough. Players like Donovan, Dempsey and Beasley are miles away from Adu in terms of quality and all these players would only be squad members. Adu can't get into the 18 man squad in the team third bottom of the portuguese league, there is no chance he would make it into our squad.
