  1. Good example, his last season for Wigan he scored 13 prem goals and was a vital link up player for the likes of Maloney who knew he could hit the ball to him and join the attack. Pity he got injured. Not much you can do to predict that.
  2. I stated Welbeck will have a good season for Arsenal and score more than Rom.... thats in the vault.
  3. Its like a baker being brilliant at icing a cake but he keeps burning the sponge.
  4. That really never did seem to bother Alan Shearer.... Drop deep, control, lay off, run into the box.... all 6ft and 12.5 stone of him. Not sure why the 6ft 4 15st Rom can't do that. Doesn't seem to bother the likes of Costa, Giroud and Dzeko either. Give this to Rom to read.... http://performance.fourfourtwo.com/technique/ibrahimovic-how-to-play-as-a-targetman
  5. I don't that its just Lukaku so in all honesty Mcgeadys performances are not Rom dependant. I've said elsewhere its his own fitness and sharpness which will improve over this season. What is Roms fault:- Passes bouncing off him Play breaking down because he can't hold on to the ball Passes played to opponents Not making the right runs Lazyness
  6. Its unlikely to be for much money. The lad represented England from Under 16 to Under 19. Seems to have reached his ceiling.
  7. How often did this happen last year? Deulofeu hit the by line and hamered in a low ball across the 6 yard box to not have a player take a chance.
  8. I think if you look at Naismith and how long it took him to get used to the pace after being in Scotland there is an element of patience required. I think its fair to say that in the past two games the difference in McGeady hasn't been his "quality" as I believe that is there, more the physical sharpness. The position of a winger is all about very fine margins, being 90% of capacity versus 100% capacity is far more noticable in that position than any other. The reason is that little extra speed off the mark, that little bit more speed of feet is the difference in beating your man or not. McGeady has been judged whilst not being fully up to speed. There is a player there, and one that is a game changing player. Look at the types of passes he makes, he threads diagonal balls between the lines. He stands a man up and tries to beat him. Yes he gets tackled, Suarez was the most tackled man at Liverpoool last year....
  9. I read Snodins book, he struck up an unhealthy friendship with Whiteside. In rehabilitation for his injury, Snods and Whiteside were given bikes to get fit. Norm rode to the pub every day and Snods tagged along. Whiteside knew his career was all but over.
  10. Really can't get my around this Ched Evans scenario. Not everything adds up but for me it all points to an arrogant alpha male who behaved in a way which he believed he could get away with. Should he be playing for a football team right now? No is my opinion. Yes he has the right to earn a living, but not on a pitch in front of paying fans, many of whom look up to the players. He had 2 appeals rejected, and there must be very good reason for that.
  11. “Yes, why not? I think that they could. They have incredible physical capabilities and they are good technically" In other words interviewer has specifically asked about those two players. Given that there isn't too much to get excited about with the England team at present it's not surprising they were the examples. The reality is far different. Sterling is not as good as he is made out to be. Barcelona had Pedro playing for them aged 20/21 and was far better than what we see from Sterling. I think Xavi is a very polite player who isn't likely to say anything negative. As much as I love Barkley I'm not all of a sudden going to elevate my appraisal of him.
  12. I remember signing him and being totally underwhelmed. Scored a very very valuable goal for us and helped us be "men" on the pitch.
  13. I'm happy to say to say i've got more "he will be a good player" right, than I have got "he is useless wrong". Just for the fact that it means we are a better team for it. Fellaini was the one where I needed to adjust my stance on, however over time it appears that much of what I have said was true. Its just that Moyes had to shoe horn him into the side in a way that would increase his impact. It worked but at the expense of strikers prospering. Unfortunately I do not think Lukaku will prove me wrong, it may just be that like Fellaini the manager finds a way to use him where his limitations aren't as damaging. At the moment it appears we have spent £28m on a 6ft 4 Tony Cottee. The irony may well be that we need to sign a target man smaller than Lukaku to do the work he can't do and allow him to be a penalty box operator. McGeady will prove me right - much to MC's dismay. Playing in leagues far slower and having an extended break from football means that we will see the best of him in the New Year. He is getting sharper, more decisive and fitter with each game. He will have the occassional stinker like all wingers do, but at nthe moment we don't have a chalk on boots player like him.
  14. I remember when we were linked to an italian box to box midfielder and I asked John Ebbrell about him when he was in the pub - he said "what about me?!" - I felt a bit gutted for him, but he took it well. He was a very underappreciated player for us, put his body on the line. Quite often see him and he remains one of the nicest unassuming blokes you could meet. His tales of Southall are funny, the Bin Man was the boss - someone lobbed him once.... never happened again, I think he took it very personally.
  15. Neville is growing his hair, ordered an Alice band and has already bought a years supply of "look at me with my anti stress lollipop". He will be attacking the day before we know it.
  16. It's horrible. Why would anyone do that. It's on paddy powers Twitter feed, we don't need it.
  17. Its getting beyond a joke. I can't help but feel if our boys in the corridors of power had a little bit more about them then this sort of stuff wouldn't happen.
  18. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/everton-fans-jailed-over-bus-4557775 http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/everton-fan-forced-apologise-after-8079384 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/everton-cancel-fc-krasnodar-europa-4185061 Its getting ridiculous now, why is Everton being dragged through negative news?
  19. After watching his teams against the likes of Benfica and Valencia - blood and guts and adrenaline will not be enough. He needs to learn an expansive game or he will fail, simple as that.
  20. In his first full season he looked brilliant. I used to enjoy his lilleshall blog that he had in the match day programme before he had made his first team debut. Its probably scant consolation that he will be financially secure, he could have had a better career. But he achieved more than most.
  21. I remember rumours that the Beatles would reunite at the end for a few songs with Julian Lennon singing. In Brown shoes!
  22. Hafnia

    Sunderland (A)

Nor does reducing an already bereft squad of a 25% salary spend, losing 2 best players year on year with minimal money invested in the team...... Still won the fa cup.
  23. I was 9 and I remember that day so well. They were awesome.
  24. Yeah that was always the problem with Claude Makelele. He might have been a really big player if He..... Oh hold on.
