  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikica_Jelavi%C4%87 Not the most reliable source I know With the exception of his move to Hull every time he has moved its been to a bigger club so he must have been doing something right Oh and Im not pining for him I simply think it was a very poor decision to sell him when we didn't have a replacement in first. It has left us without a forward at a crucial stage of the season and has effectively ended our chances of CL football
  2. He woul;d still be way beyond our reach even at that price if you take into account how much they are paying him
  3. I totally agree that we are playing better football and I think we are far more likely to do well in the FA Cup under Martinez because he will have a go on the big occasions. However I just think that the galss ceiling is still firmly in place and that we are nowhere nearer breaking it than we have ever been, That isnt a reflection on Martinez because I dont think that there is a manager on the planet who could smash us through that barrier because we simply havent got the money to compete. We need a clinical 20+ goals a season CF and we cant shop in that market IMO until things change drastically off the pitch then that ceiling will always be there
  4. He has only had 6 clubs in his entire career so that should read 6 clubs in 12 years, also with stats of 116 goals in 292 appearances I would class him as a consisten scorer, apart from the drought he had with us
  5. I dont think 7th is a shite season, its about as good as we can realistcally expect to finish until things change off the pitch I know 7th under Moyes would be deemed a failure by some so it will be interesting to see what 7th under Roberto is classed as should we end up finishing there
  6. Loke him or not he is easily our most creative player and when he plays well Everton play well
  7. Just watched MotD and he looked the business yesterday, I know which one I would prefer being on Evertons books at the moment
  8. True enough but I think the reason Chang appeals to the club is that they are trying to tap into the market in that region The Premiership is immensely popular over there and I think the club want to try and build a fan base over there
  9. Yes the Chelsea player was looking for the free kick but then Jags duly obliged. Put it this way if it had been the other way around I would be pissed off if we didnt get the free kick. I felt cheated at Spurs but not from this game. You could blame bad luck, poor defending in the final minutes, wrong subs or our lack of quality in the final third but not the Ref
  10. Couldnt see him getting into our side unless we lose Barry and for the fee and the wages it would cost its just not worth it for a backup player
  11. Yep he is dead right We need a top class CF who can finish games off for us , but that type of player costs money
  12. I agree Think it was a bit of a panic buy, if only Roberto had done what he said he was going to do in the first place and not let Jelavic go until we had a replacement in.Then I doubt we would ever have taken the risk, Its back fired badly and left us without a CF for the busiest part of the season. Naismith has come in and done a job but he isnt the answer
  13. Come the end of the seaon I dont think that the league table is going to look too disimilar to what it is now, our failure in the January window looks like it has cost us any remote chance we had of CL football but hopefully City will win the League Cup final and one of the toop 5 will win the FA Cup, if not us, and we will hold onto 7th to get a Europa League place
  14. Not meaning to throw the cat amongst the pigeons but in that respect it is the same old Everton We have had that problem for as long as I can remeber and until we can find £20M + to sign one and then find another £150k a week to keep him happy we will always fail to break into the top 4
  15. Baines for me, solid at the back and looked dangerous going forward
  16. Lol the difference 12 months makes! Gutted about the result, thought we deserved something from the game but on a positive note that's easily our best performance for a while now and I don't think its going to have too much of an effect on our chances of Europa League next year because its looking like 6th place will be sufficient
  17. Can honestly see us getting a hiding here. Let's hope Roberto has learnt his lesson from the derby
  18. I don't think that's true at all. We played some fantastic football under Moyes and I'm not just talking about the odd game here and there either. Some people would have you believe he just had us playing hoofball but IMO they are talking out of their arses. That said I do firmly believe Martinez has us playing better football and we have definitely progressed under him although sometimes I just wish we had a plan B Are we anywhere nearer the top 4? Probably not and with the number of loan players we have got I have absolutely no idea what the side is going to look like next year
  19. Lol I completely refuse to get even remotely excited about any new ground rumours until the groundsman is marking out the new pitch
  20. So the likes of Arteta, Piennar, Baines , Coleman. Manny Fernanez, and Gibson arent comfortable on the ball?
