  1. i think after hearing lescott talk in the past few days about how he's not enjoying spending so much time on the bench at city, pienaar might be having second thoughts about leaving everton. it seems like he's growing more inclined to sign a new deal, but nobody can really be sure. true he'll get a pay raise if he goes to another big club but he's also going to spend a lot more time on the bench which he isn't used to. at tottenham he'll have to compete with bale, van der vaart, modric and lennon for a place. same at arsenal as he'll have to compete with arshavin, walcott, nasri and wilshere. a lot has been said about how few players actually do better in their careers after they leave everton. if you look at all the big names that have left in the past 10 years, rooney is really the only one who can say he benefited (in footballing terms, obviously the pay situations improved vastly for others that left) from leaving, and that's only because he's one of the worlds best, while good players like lescott and gravesen saw their playing careers stall astonishingly quickly. not trying to detract from pienaar's talent, but he's not in the same bracket as rooney, but he doesn't need to look further than lescott and gravesen to realise that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. here's to hoping he figures that out and signs a new contract at everton because odds are he'll regret the day he left everton
  2. if we start talking about who we can get by getting rid of pienaar, what would people think about a swap with spurs for either keane or kranjcar? both good players that can't seem to get a game at spurs and i'm sure they'd be happy to join a club like ours where they'd get to play more regularly and with a good group of players. i'd rather do that or sell pienaar and use whatever money we get for him plus whatever money was set aside for his improved contract and get someone like donovan edit: also in response to bluenoseyankee's original post: adebayor will be available in january and in the current economic climate i can't exactly picture many clubs lining up to buy him. he'd be available on loan, although i'm sure his wages are astronomic. however, i'm sure city would pay for at least part of his wages (like the situation with bellamy and cardiff) just to free up roster space for their latest overpriced recruits
  3. bets on how long it will take him to start complaining about not enough first team football just like lescott's done the other day?
  4. the refs were honestly so biased today though. first not booking malouda for stamping on neville. then booking neville for drogba stopping to shove into him. terrible calls against coleman by the linesman throughout the second half. don't even get me started on the "penalty" incident. how can they say howard fouled anelka when anelka threw his arms out and mowed howard down?
  5. i had a strong feeling we'd come up with a late equalizer this game. last time we wore a white kit at stamford bridge was the tim cahill bicycle kick
  6. if anyone gives arteta MOM....... honestly can't understand why moyes keeps him in the 11 when he continues to perform so poorly. arteta needs to be dropped for playing poorly. he needs a bit of a shake up because obviously what he's doing isn't working. he needs to not feel like he's guaranteed a spot no matter what. dropping him would make him see that and make him work harder to get back in the side. moyes needs to stop playing favorites and give rodders, gueye and beckford playing time. honestly, has gueye made an appearance since the first carling cup match? for all that's been made about moyes being so brilliant about bringing youth through, i honestly can't see gueye wanting to stay if moyes keeps overlooking him the way he's been doing.
  7. i think moyes needs to take one of arteta and heitinga off, move pienaar to the middle and put gueye on the left. pienaar is doing MUCH more than arteta and heitinga combined whenever he's drifted into the middle
  8. is fellaini still suspended for the next match? i'd love to see a central midfield of him and rodwell if possible. arteta needs to be sent the message that he's not guaranteed a spot in the 11 unless he's playing well
  9. pienaar is already looking tired. probably because he's having to drift into the middle to make up for arteta and heitinga being so incompetent
  10. they look shit so far tonight. i can't understand why at least one of them wasn't dropped for rodwell. they've been the reason why we haven't had any significant attacking play apart from the goal. they aren't defending well and certainly aren't linking the defense with attack. what happened to moyes saying he was going to drop those who haven't performed? those two have been some of the biggest underperformers this season so far.
  11. i remember rumours of a £10m switch to inter over the summer. wish we would have jumped on that. for that price we could have gotten donovan
  12. i know foreign clubs will be able to sign him to a pre contract agreement in january, but clubs in the champions league may be interested in buying in january since he's not cup tied. even if it were only 5 mil, it would be better to at least get something other than just the freed up wage space edit: plus i feel like whatever money moyes had put aside for pienaar's improved contract this past summer will be freed up. hopefully that can translate into being able to find a suitable replacement.
  13. i love these early kickoffs. i can stay up drunk from partying the night before (on los angeles time at least). COYBBBBB
  14. this is brilliant. favorite moment of the match for me (besides the goals of course).
  15. HAHA i LOVED that! yak really looks up for this one! oh and john henry, welcome to the fuckin premier league. its a good thing the first game he watches is against us at goodison. he'll get a chance to see some real fans, since he won't find any at analfield
  16. i think it was the same thing for the da silva twins (rafael and fabio) at manchester united. once they turned 18 then they were allowed to play
  17. i still remember what yak was like in his first season. scored in his first game and we all thought he was our goalscoring savior but then had trouble finding the net for quite some time. then all of a sudden he got one and then he never looked back from there. ended up scoring 21 goals i think it was that season? during his second season he struggled at the beginning of it and we were all waiting for him to get a bit of luck and score so that he could get back on the goal trail again. he scored an odd goal, i remember it going in off his back or his arse, and then the next game against tottenham he had that horrible injury. last year he suffered from a combination of not having played in a long time and not getting a significant run of games. he scored against chelsea but wasn't really ready to be playing week in week out at that point so he didn't see very much playing time. i thought in the game against hull last year when we won 5-1 he played really well minus scoring a goal which i think was down to him not having much luck. after that i was looking for him to get a good run of games but it never really happened, not sure why. now this season i think he's played well against man u, fullham and birmingham (didn't see much of newcastle so can't make judgement on that one). he's getting a good run of games now and i think the longer that goes on, the more match fitness he'll get which is a great thing for us imo. for me, he just needs to get that one goal and then his confidence will start to come back and hopefully he'll score a bunch of goals and i think he could have a good season.
  18. most depressing result of the season so far...... and that's saying something. so pissed off right now.
  19. beckford's saved....... FUCK
  20. commentators giving neville tons of praise for his pen
  21. penalty takers? i think it might be arteta, pieanaar, baines, beckford, and osman
