  1. know it's been a while since there's been any news about landon, but i noticed in one of the articles on the OS about the awards that he'd sent a special video message to be shown during the event. anyone know what it happened be about? also, just an update on how his MLS season is going. the galaxy are unbeaten in their first seven games, winning 6 and drawing 1, with 5 shutouts. of the 11 goals scored by the team so far, landon has assisted on 5 of them, and even though he hasn't scored yet, his teammate edson buddle has scored 9 of them, all in the first 6 games. from what i've watched, landon's passing has been really great, reflected by the amount of assists he has so far. he'll be leaving the galaxy to join up with the US national team later this month, and hopefully he'll continue his good form through the world cup and hopefully when he joins us on a permanent transfer afterwards
  2. was looking around google news for everything everton related, and I came across an interesting article about tim howard's thoughts on us finishing fourth this season. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Tim-Howard-Everton-can-shock-Spurs-Manchester-City-and-Liverpool-to-steal-fourth-place-article367825.html after reading it, I got to thinking about our chances of finishing fourth, and although it's a long shot, I definitely don't think it's impossible. I also found a good page (link below) with analysis of all the clubs that can potentially finish fourth from this point on (in order of current placing: tottenham, man city, liverpool, aston villa, and us) and it only made me think that finishing fourth for us is much less impossible than I thought. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00701/TopFour_701549a.pdf in terms of form, we're in the best run of it in the five teams. in terms of scheduling, we have the easiest schedule. tottenham definitely have the worst, having to face arsenal, chelsea, man utd and man city in their last 8 games. man city has the second toughest, with man utd, arsenal, aston villa and tottenham all in succession. villa come in third, having to face chelsea, us, and man city. liverpool have the easiest, besides us, with the only team above them that they have to face is chelsea, although they do have to play sunderland, fullham and birmingham. so with so many of the others playing against eachother in these last couple of games, I think we can capitalize on the dogfight between all the other sides, especially looking at our schedule. i honestly believe we can win every one of our remaining games, and like howard says in the article, if we want to be considered among the best and be truly a top 4 side, then we need to do something special like win out our remaining games. thoughts?
  3. I'm not completely sure if its a new thing this season, but i'm really glad that they're staggering all the round of 16 ties this year so that we have 4 of the 1st/2nd legs being played one week on tues/wed and the other 4 being played the next week. it's much better than having 8 champs league 1st/2nd legs being played in 2 days in the same week, so that it gives us a chance to watch more of the games. is this a new thing they're trying out this year? i don't think they did it thinking over the last few seasons but i could be wrong
  4. just download veetle, its worth it mate. uninterrupted streams with clear picture
  5. GET IN VICTOR!!!! definitely felt that one coming for him after the way he played last week
  6. http://www.veetle.com/v/4b94ae926a425 have to use firefox and download veetle but its stunning quality for a stream
  7. "i don't know why you say goodbye, i say hello", how fitting here's to hoping he's back permanently in the summer
  8. gave it to donovan, partly since its his last goodison game but mostly for the contribution he made. a goal and an assist in 20 min, and probably should have had a second assist from that yakubu chance. if it weren't landon's last game, definitely would have given it to arteta for his 2 (and a half) goals, plus absolutely bossed hull and was everywhere today. commentators were going gaga over him.
  9. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/357783-why-does-landon-donovan-need-to-stay-at-everton-ask-andrei-arshavin great article on why landon should stay with us, as being compared to the whole andrei arshavin saga with zenit a few years ago
  10. Team for the day off the OS Howard, Neville, Baines, Yobo, Senderos, Donovan, Bilyaletdinov, Arteta, Pienaar Osman, Saha. Subs: Nash, Jagielka, Anichebe, Coleman, Rodwell, Gosling, Yakubu. EDIT: wallwriter beat me to it
  11. definitely agree with that. I read another article on donovan a few days ago basically pleading with him to make the permanent move it everton. it talked a lot about how he already knows that we're a perfect fit for him and he wouldn't have to get used to another team's structure if he moved permanently to us, not to mention theres quite a few other americans playing in the EPL. it went on also to talk about how without donovan's big contract in the MLS, it would free up money to help bring through several other american talents, which I thought was very relevant with the whole work stoppage possibility. my neighbor that's a humongous man utd and US mens national team fan said he was gutted that we absolutely destroyed them over the weekend, but that he was happy to see landon playing so well for us. he really wants him to make the permanent move over to us, which is the general position that anyone who supports the national team takes. honestly, either in the summer or at worst next january is the ideal time for landon to make his move permanent us. hopefully it's this summer though so that we can have him for a full pre season and we can continue to play the way we've been playing ever since he's been here.
  12. well the problem that the players have over here is that there are a lot of players that aren't getting paid very much. some players have to share apartments, and i even heard about one player having to live with a host family because he couldn't afford to live on his own. the players probably want to get it all sorted out, since they need to get paid, but they want to be paid a proper wage. tbh i'm not even sure how the whole structure works here, i just know its fairly ridiculous and much closer to the way the NBA is run, rather than every other football league around the world. haha i know, i call it football here all the time, so i constantly find that i'm correcting myself. sometimes i think i was born in the wrong country..... anywhere else and people would understand my obsession with football much, much more.
  13. there are rumours that the stoppage could be anywhere from a couple of weeks to half or all of the season. if there were to be a work stoppage, landon would technically be going behind picket lines by playing for us if his loan were extended, but i don't think they would care too much as it would be much more beneficial for the national team if he were playing at a top club in europe rather than sitting around at home in los angeles. all of that being said, the administration in MLS will not want there to be a stoppage just as much as the players don't want one. the tv ratings will be much higher after the world cup, no matter whether the national team does well. even after the 2006 WC, when the US flopped, and also after the confed cup last summer, there seemed to be a lot more people wanting to watch football (soccer on this side of the pond) and the MLS was the only viable option since it was the only league in season being shown on TV over here. all of the officials in MLS will definitely want to capitalize on that, and like i said, won't want there to be a work stoppage
  14. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/350395-mls-work-stoppage-imminent-donovan-may-be-staying-with-everton article about mls work stoppage and possibility of donovan staying longer
  15. where is cody arnoux in that squad? wasn't he playing well and scoring at the beginning of the season? anyone know what he's been doing?
  16. was reading the article on the OS about the lowdown on sporting going into our tie with them on tuesday, and found an interesting tidbit at the bottom of the article. they were talking to journalist and sporting lisbon expert Tom Kundert and the very last line of the article is as reads: "Everton fans may take special interest in the performance of Sporting midfielder João Moutinho, heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park." i found it kind of odd that the OS would include that in the article, but maybe its a sign of things to come? personally i thought we'd moved passed him. i know tons of you are gonna be annoyed that i've opened up this can of worms again, but i thought it was definitely relevant seeing as it's in an article on the OS that isn't What the Papers Say. link to the article is below http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/the-lowdown-on-sporting.html
  17. saha has looked disinterested the last couple of games, going all the way back to the arsenal one. i even didn't think he played very well during the man city game, even though he scored a pen, and it was hard to look bad that day with even bily looking amazing. thought it was due to him sulking about a contract, but i thought once he got one before the liverpool game that he'd perk up and start playing better again, but no. you guys have to remember that yak is still not back to his best as he is coming back from a nasty injury. you all say he's a lazy bag of crap based solely on his performances this season when he's still on the recovery trail from that injury, but do none of you remember what he was like before his injury? he was playing out of his skin and after all he was the last player for us to score 20+ goals in a season. yak should start playing more so that he can work his way back to his best and also so that saha will get a kick up his backside and stop moping around every time he's out on the field for us
  18. i think signing donovan permanently would be a great piece of business. already we've seen that he's able to play in the league, and he seems to like the club very much and works hard, fitting into moyes' philosophy. on the pr side, we would get loads more attention from all the american supporters, not to mention revenue from more of our games being shown in the US and from jersey sales here. like previously said, i think getting pienaar on a new deal has to be our top priority in the summer, but beyond him, a permanent deal for donovan has to be a top priority, as well as tying up some free transfers for any of senderos, beckford and ledley to add to the free transfer of the keeper jan mucha
  19. not saying the greek didn't deserve to get sent off, he for sure did. but fellaini did stomp on the greek fella's leg, so i think he maybe could have gotten sent off, depending on who's refereeing. either way, let's hope moyes inspires them in the dressing room and we come out firing in the second half
  20. lucky fellaini wasn't sent off before he was substituted for that tackle on kyriagos. commentators on espn were calling for him to get a straight red
  21. cahill!! what a legend! anyone else notice how thick fellaini's eyebrows are?
  22. anyone got a link for the game yet?
  23. that's the best bench i've seen in about three years!! just seeing how much quality we have on the bench gives me a good feeling about this one 3-0 to us!
  24. i just meant he wasn't exactly a failure during his time in spain. thought he was just an unlucky casualty of the new regime at madrid. and besides, we've had quite a few players that have struggled in other countries or at least haven't done brilliantly there but have done well with us in england. pienaar? arteta? heitinga
  25. http://evertonfc.com/news/archive/keeper-to-join-blues.html confirmed on the os
