  1. Nothing to do with a future owner being a fan. Our problem lies with GP not making enough money through coporate revenues (in my opinion). The current owners are trying to address this with the development behind Park End which I pressume is still going ahead eventually? Do we know Lerner was going to buy us a new stadium? Is that what Bill's holding out for - someone who will promise us that?
  2. For what it's worth, my opinion is BK deserved his applause yesterday. He has done a lot for this club and deserves his place in our clubs history. Where would we be if he hadn't done the work he did to take the ownership away from Peter Johnson? That's why I clapped over the boo's - if there had been no boo's I doubt I would have done anything. I want a new owner ASAP - a owner who can take us forward, help propel us to the next level... but so does Bill! It's a catch 22 situation, I think Bill wants to sell to the perfect owner because he's a fan and maybe he's being too cautious with regard to a Lerner type buyer, or Bill wants to sell to someone who will keep him as part of the team (which may not neccessarily be such a bad thing). Regardless of who we get to sell us Kenwright will have the final say. He doesn't deserve some of the abuse he's getting, he and Moyes have helped raise the expectations of the fans in their time here. I think Bill has held on too long and missed some excellent opportunities (Kings Dock being the main one) but I still think he wants the best for the club in the long run and will do what he can while he is in charge.
  3. He'll be a regular in and around the team by the time any team can bid again.
  4. People seem to hang on what this chap says... http://www.thtandlcab-football.com/ThankGodItsOver.html An interesting list of players - wonder if Holtby would be a Jan option?
  5. Disagree, they were bought from a lower division. Maybe Henderson is a comparisson but the most obvious one must be Rooney.
  6. In my eyes no doubt, he switched off and got the wrong side of Agbangawhore. Part of the blame for 1 point over 3 must be put on the ref though. Shocking decision at 1-0 when baines was tripped in the box directly in front of him. But we should know by now that we can't really on ref's... especially a ref with a teenage boys haircut!!!
  7. Basically it was a publicity stunt. The only good was it helped improve the atmosphere at GP yesterday - but it should be like that every game not just because a couple of thousand (if that) 'real fans' went down the boozer earlier and got tanked up for a protest. Special mention must go to the Lower Gwladys standing/singing area - incredible!!!
  8. Our business model is something like: - invest primarily in our current assets e.g. securing our best players on long term deals/ developing youth - makes sense. - do not spend beyond our means - could kill club (see Pompy/Leeds). - sell players only at the right price or those who are seeking alternative employment - every player has his price even Ronaldo, Torres, Fabregas. - buy players within budget who fit into the wage structure. If the finances aren't there use the much safer loan market. We don't sell our best players cheaply. Arteta went for £10m because he wanted the opportunity to play C.L football - we gambled last summer giving him a £75k per week packet and he didn't justify that - maybe if he had we could have matched his ambitions and that contract would have been justified. We didn't sell Jags because 1. a big enough offer didn't come in and 2. he didn't want to leave. Our business model will be very similar with any owner but we will hopefully have more room for manouvere when acquiring assets.
  9. Wow! What a tool! (not Jagielka or Stubbs by the way!)
  10. I really think he will for 3 months anyway.
  11. Exactly the face I pulled after seeing that! Very good performance today - but like we do against Villa every season at GP we didn't take our chances and were made to pay. We looked a lot, lot better than them today. N'Zogbia - would have loved him during the summer but on todays performance and what I've seen of him this season... meh!
  12. Excellent news - well done to the lad!
  13. Felli looked so comfortable - class. Also Osman, Cahill, Baines and Coleman had excellent games. The thought of Coleman/Drenthe as our wingers makes my balls tingle!
  14. Exactly! BK and BU seem to want the same thing for EFC(apart from the obvious not wanting each other!) I have no evidence but whispers upstairs in the Winslow were that people were stood abusing BK (who was with his wife) as he arrived at the game today - what knobs if that is true. They talk about true fans... well a true fan doesn't drag the clubs name through shit like this - scum! I for one clapped BK when he appeared on the screen - he's a true blue. I want him to sell the club, but so does he. Obviously in Bill's eyes the right buyer hasn't come along... the Lerner rumours seem to stack up but another rumour round here (I'm local to Villa) is Ellis walked out on Lerner in their meeting as he's a complete tit and that deal almost failed because of this. But in the end someone convinced Ellis and he was past ready to sell anyway with his age, etc. Villa losing O'Neill suggests Lerner may not be as good a chairman as many make out, O'Neill was to villa what Moyes is to us. Yeah they spent a bit of money but look at them now... they sold their best 2 players this summer and have done for they past few summers. Chelsea and Man.City = false economy. Not many other takeovers have been very successful.
  15. Great game - not played it in years! Really want to play now but can't find any bastard dice!!!
  16. Just for comedy value... http://www.sportsvibe.co.uk/news/football/everton-set-for-new-year-spending-spree-10567/ Last time there was a war chest at Goodison must have been WW2.
  17. Think his parents have moved back over and with him being young I think he wanted to be back in England. Being on-loan he's always got the option to go back there in the summer whilst in the meantime training with one of the best acadamies in the world with as good facilities as any. Win, win for Dier - no risk for EFC/Sporting.
  18. Vic could be out for us - injured on int duty... meh! Darren Bent should be injured for them with him not playing for England and pulling out of Tuesday... fingers crossed!!!
  19. Brehme scored in the final he played in and it was 1-0 don't think he's old enough to have been in any before Italia 90' - my first world cup memories!
  20. Off topic but we need something to go with the pissing monkey! It's almost compatable with the pint - comes out black though!
  21. Yes cash rich, but you've got to admire how many players they've actually brought on themselves. Barca play football how it should be played - they should be watched and enjoyed.
