  1. They've invested in a manager who gets his team to play football and 2 players. If they buy 9 more who can play tika-taka then I don't see why not?
  2. I'm surprised we haven't gone for Manny Fernandes, doesn't get up the pitch as well as Rodwell, but he's both footed and would be a great player to rotate Gibson with.
  3. Probs something to do with RVP signing.
  4. Ok article on Mancini regarding the Rodwell playing to win now. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/aug/15/everton-manchester-city-roberto-mancini?
  5. Another Coleman footballer/Gaelic. Hopefully some of the glory hunting Irish will swap Liverpool for the toffees again, with all the Irish coming through. http://www.sportsnewsireland.com/soccer_irish/121944/?
  6. General topics Liverpool fans will show their true colours. 1) Scum of a squad- Gerrard is not a thug. Some of the match goers will admit he's past it. Suraes is a victim. Oh and they don't cheat and dive. 2) Underrated Best Players in the World - Finnan, Carragher(who they laughed at). Sissoko, Mascherano, Kuyt, Skrtl, Suares - apparently his 11 goals makes him as good as RVP because he hit the post a lot (the same amount as RvP but they miss that bit out). Borini (who they haven't even seen yet). 3) Heysel - ?? A Liverpool fan regardless of birth place will try to educate you about Hillsborough, even though though the victims we're both Liverpool and Everton fans family members. So more than likely you already know a lot more than them on this. Yet they give you a funny look as if you have just made a word up if you ask them what the club does for the Heysel disaster? 4) Referees are against them - As an Evertonian this one is hard to comprehend. They can name all 10 things that didnt got their way in a season. Some of these things may include a freekick in their own half that they would have scored from or a rightly called offside what they believe should have been a goal because they had been the better team. 5) Youth System - their amazing youth system brought through Carragher Gerrard Owen ect. Ask them who has come through in the last 10 years and they will struggle, even though they've had 3 next Zidanes (Pongolle, LeTallec, plus the onetime top paid player that is £60k a week Bruno Cheyrou) that they didnt shut up about. More recently there is Pacheco and Sterling who are yet to make an impact. They do have Kelly who looks like he could be the first one in a long time.
  7. If Fellaini is fit and in warrior mode like the game at OT, I think we will over power them. Rio is past it, hopefully be remindful of when Ferguson used to bully him. 3-2 a sloppy goal and an assist from the referee for them, Naismith scrappy goal from a set-piece, Felli screamer, and Jela 90th minute poach for the win .
  8. I don't think the point is wether he will start or not, but wether we can afford the luxury of a high salary player who can't play for 90 mins. Eg. Dunn for Blackburn.
  9. The revenue streams have dramatically increased, so there is less pressure from the banks. I can see the majority of the Rodwell sale being reinvested. Think Mirallas is the more likely of the 2, as the OS has put a lot of sources of it on the site 'in the papers'.
  10. Looks like he would allow us to adopt a new system, maybe a 433 similar to Man U's. Fellaini, Gibson, and Osman in the middle with Pienaar/Naismith shifted to the right wing.
  11. Changy sounds terrible out of a scouse mouth. Hope the scals don't start calling a pint that.
  12. He can be lazy, and lacks concentration. Mancini had moaned about him getting a goal and then thinking his job was done, reminiscent of Mourinho/Joe Cole, if he came here and didn't get the luxury of players doing the rest of his job for him, it could turn out like Cole for Liverpool. Also if he knows he will be starting on the bench, he practises on a pub one the night before. That said, I'd still want him, but only on-loan (as rumoured). If we buy outright, I'd rather have kept Drenthe and saved the money.
  13. I can imagine a lot on Kipper doing circles right now and crying that he's a Bruno Texiera.
  14. He likes a bevvie. He was out all the time during freshers week (the first week of university) when he first joined City. My mate seen him shit faced round Wilmslow a lot as well. He might have calmed down now though.
  15. Barkley has arguably more potential, but he doesn't replace Rodwell. He's an attacking mid, whereas Rodwell is a box-to-box that are a lot rarer these days.
  16. I was only joking, most the lefties are one-footed. No idea how accurate this is http://www.futhead.com/12/player/7660 but they give him 4 stars for his weak foot, so maybe he can use it. I've seen his name as Giannis, which is the same as John, but we don't call Coleman James. I don't see why they have translated it.
  17. Pity it's all in one boot, in that vid at least. Still would be very useful.
  18. Mourinho (tweet): As I alone have won the world's 3 most important leagues perhaps instead of 'the Special One' I should be known as 'the Only One'
  19. He was are best player before his injury, and his come back was an absolute joke by Moyes/fitnesscoaches and they have to take the blunt of the blame for his second injury, think they would learn after running Cahill to the ground and ruining Gosling's career as well. The games is to fast for their old school philosophy. He's been hit and miss but he has been a victim of Moyes crab football and square hole starting elevens (why did he play right mid?). Under another manager he would have flourished playing box to box, if he was at Sunderland instead of Henderson, the shite would have paid triple for him. This year would have been his sink or swim, with a trio of him, Osman, and Fellaini floating about we would have been a force this year. That trio could rival Busquets, Xavi, and Iniesta, but no we'll stick with the left wing because change scares us. Richardson isnt as far behind Baines as people think. If not Neville has about a 100 games experience at left back and showed last season he can still do it there, and Distin could fill in depending on the opposition. Garbutt is 1st choice for U19s, but I dont see how thats relevant? He chose to stay at Cheltenham and play in the play-offs, which is admirable. Not really creeping, even if he doesn't develop any more he is still worth 15 mil for the next 10 years. Baines will be worth less than that next year, half that the year after. Simple long term view at it and its a no brainer. We've had a strong enough central midfield to play football on the ground through the middle and havent changed tactics to take advantage of that. So strengthening the right still doesn't change a thing and if it would, why hadn't it been addressed earlier? Plus the left is a weakness because every club knows what we're going to do. I don't see what part of the last bit can be misunderstood?
  20. That shouldn't of bothered you that much.
  21. I think we'll see more of Neville/Heitinga in midfield with Fellaini, Naismith, and Osman ahead of Barkley . Hope I'm wrong.
  22. Saha said he was willing to not get paid until he was fit and playing. Everton didn't take him up on the offer and paid him from the start of his contract, possibly because the contract may have been to complicated, or as a show of good faith for him taking a pay-cut to join us in the 1st place.
  23. Nice reminder of the last time we won anything .
  24. If Rodwell stagnates he is worth £15 mil. If he lives up to potential his value will rise by silly amounts, people seem to be completely blind to the amount of exposure he would have got us playing for England, he already does pretty well with advertising = massive lose. Baines is worth £15 now, and his value will only go down. If we sold him we only need a stop gap, I'd rather have an average left back for 2 years with Garbutt taking over. Plus look at every other club, we're the only one who's key play is from a left back, I'm sure we could find something useful to adapt into our own play. I don't see how any fan can think that Moyes should stick with the same old tactics, it's boring now and they don't work anymore... unless your happy with best of the rest rather than wanting the club to up the ambition and challenge for Euro spots. note: I'm not bothering over the injury prone, Marcopaulo has already covered it.
